Women's HAM hunting camp, Feb 17-19

Hey All, CouesWhitetail.com has teamed up with AGFD and Youth Outdoors Unlimited to host another javelina hunting camp for novice women hunters. The camp will be the second weekend of the HAM hunt down in the 36s. Tags are still available over the counter. If you know any adult women that would like to learn how to hunt, this is a great opportunity for them. We send each lady out in the field with an experienced hunter and help them get a javelina. We provide all the food and instruction and even hunting/camping gear if needed. This camp was a great success last year with lots of help from CouesWhitetail.com forum members! I am looking for students as well as mentors, so spread the word. For more information and the registration form, please visit this page: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/womens_javelina_hunt_2012.htm We had a really fun time last year and we expect to have even more hunters and mentors this year! If anyone is interested, please review the info on the page linked above.

A comment from one of the ladies who attended: Amanda- Thanks for a great camp and awesome hunt. We all had a blast and met some great people. Please thank Roger and Ilene again for us- it was nice to stay in the camper. We are already planning our trip down next year! Sorry that we had so many plan changes prior to the hunt but I think it all worked out well. The camp was amazing and the food was great. We had an awesome time! Sent from my iPhone Anissa Brinkman

A comment from one of the ladies who attended: Hi Amanda, I am so glad that I came to the Womens Javelina Hunt down in the wildlife reserve... I was astounded at the number and variety of deer in the area along with seeing that lion.. I also want to say that my guide Kathy Green was most gracious and taught me a lot about deer and Javelina..things I would never have known. Kathy also taught me to glass properly just by watching her. She is a very patient person as I have some physical limitations that got in my way this trip..Next year that should be much improved. I had a very serious new back injury Dec 10 2011 and did not know if I would be well enough to come to the hunt. I was well enough to come and learn but not to walk and climb much this time.. That will change as I continue to heal this year. I have been talking to some of my friends about this hunt and they want to come next year.. I have given out some of the Arizona Outdoor Women brochures to my friends and will give out the rest to my Her Hand Gun shooting group the first Sunday in March. I will talk to Kippie Letham and Debbie Keehart from Her Hand Gun about contacting you about putting some kind of womens shooting program together if you are still open to that. Their website is www.herhandgun.com you can contact them there if you wish..just let them know that I made the connection to you for them... Thank you for all of the hard work that you and all of the volunteers did to put this program together. I met some really lovely men and women some of whom have become friends and future hunting partners... I have attached two pictures of the flowers that the guys put on the table for us women...it was very sweet of them to do that....Well thats all for now... If you know of any other hunts coming up please keep me on the mailing list because I would like to know about them.. My best.. Patti

some comments about the camp that I received: Dear Amanda, My husband, Andres, and I want to thank you so much for the wonderful weekend we had. It was an amazing opportunity for us to learn about hunting and the correct way to handle firearms. We both enjoyed ourselves immensely and learned A LOT! Our mentors (Jerry, Tracy and Angie) were extrememly knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Everyone we met had such a love for hunting and the outdoors; it was so great to see and be a part of. We are grateful to have been able to share in this time with you and want to thank you and everyone from Youth Outdoors Unlimited, all the mentors and everyone else who put this camp together. It is a wonderful idea and I am letting you know right now that Andres and I will be showing up next year, as well! Thank you again! Sincerely, Alina Fuggiti Barcenas

Brady Wash Unit 37B - great time

Oh and I forgot to mention the outstanding bacon/green chile wrapped pheasant breasts that TJ grilled up Friday night for everyone! Wow, was that awesome. Thanks to Jackshoe and TJ for sharing the bounty of their pheasant hunts! TJ also cooked up breakfast burritos Sat and Sun morning and everyone loved those! Thanks again for your generosity TJ!
  14. I find the idea of selling off public lands to be very disturbing as well. I love all the public land we have here in AZ and can't imagine how selling that off is in the best interest of the public. Thanks for sharing this issue. I had no idea about the comments that had been made...wow.

  21. Hey All, Ben Brochu of AGFD has asked for support for a water catchment project to help deer in 37B. Both he and I would love to see a lot of CouesWhitetail.com'ers show up to help. You don't have to stay the whole weekend, even if you can donate one day's worth of your time, that is very helpful. Dates are March 8-12, 2012. I will be there to work on the project....who else is interested? These are really fun and useful projects and it's a great time of year to get out there camping in the desert. We usually have a good turnout of CW.com people at these projects, so let's continue the trend! here is a link to some pics and info from one we did in 2010. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17733 If you are planning to attend this project, please let me or Ben know, we need a head count because food will be provided Saturday night. map and directions attached. Collaboration on a Massive Scale

I don't know how many of you have ever heard of the site ted.com, but it's a fascinating site that has tons of videos about technology, entertainment and design ideas. My church recently was using some of these videos to create discussion about faith and so I started looking around and found this really interesting video that I thought you all might enjoy. It's about using the internet to accomplish tasks that seem like they are just too large and expensive to accomplish.
