"Spotting an animal from a long ways off and hoping in the truck to cut the distance down = NOT LEGAL" Really?? You may be right since you are using a vehicle to aid in the take of game, but that seems to be an interpretation that would classify a lot of hunters as illegal. Love to hear a game wardens take on this.

Thanks ALOT! You JACKWAGONS!

Congratulations and thanks for posting the story and all the pics! Great bucks! -
Please take some time to remember those military who served on Dec 7 1941. We lost about 2400 American lives that day. Only a few survivors of that attack remain. Please remember that freedom isn't free....

Congratulations Tony!!! I am happy for you!

Kevin, I can see why you are upset....whenever i have seen someone pointing their gun in my direction, I don't stand up and wave, I get behind a tree or rock fast! After they put their guns down, then I might try waving or shouting...depends on if I think it's safe to do that or not. On my deer hunt this year I watched some guys using their scopes to glass for deer. They rode horses onto the ridge of the canyon I was glassing from afar. Got off their horses and rested their guns on a juniper and looked like they were getting ready to shoot. I had been glassing all over that bowl and I thought there is no way they are about to shoot a buck. Then they starting pointing the gun in many different directions (including my direction) and my buddy finally made sense of it for me...they were "glassing" with their rifle scopes. It's extremely unpleasant to have someone do that to you. Amanda -
The eclipse was cool!! The moon turned a neat shade of red for awhile before blacking out. Did you get pics Doug??
-
White ok? or would you rather try for a gold like those browning stickers? I know you mentioned black, but that won't show in the day very well....

Good luck with the surgery! Let us know how it goes!

Are You Crazy Enough To Run After A Mt. Lion ;)

I haven't run down a lion but I did walk up to one that was caught in a leghold trap....I couldn't figure out at first why it wasn't running from me... video from that encounter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZRrqpjHgzo -
I took my dogs for a walk this evening up in the public land north of Globe as we often do. My dogs run free and usually flush quail and maybe some deer and elk, but this time it was more exciting. Julie (my golden retriever) flushed some quail and they scatter and fly over my head and across the canyon. She loves to flush quail, but when I looked up she was racing around a manzanita near where the quail flushed and acting like she was on the trail of something much better than quail. I kind of just shined it off thinking she was just overly excited to chase quail in the snow and such. Anyway, Sunshine (my other dog) and I keep moving up the dirt road and lost track of Julie. After maybe 10 mins or so I hear her barking on the hill below me. She NEVER barks while we are out hiking...so I figured maybe she treed a bobcat or a coati. I get to the tree where she is and she is jumping up trying to climb the pinyon pine. I look up into the branches of the tree expecting to see something and yet I see nothing! I look and look and think I have a good view of all the branches and can't see anything. So I start thinking maybe whatever it was jumped out of the tree while Julie wasn't looking. But she is acting like she is sure something is up there. I walk downhill and around to the other side of the tree and catch a glimpse of fur and then a whole bobcat hunkered down on a branch (which was out of my view from the other side). Cool! It looks like a big male to me based on his head size, but I usually only see bobcats briefly and this was a real treat to watch it for awhile. It tried to stay stone still hoping we wouldn't see it. Poor Julie never did see it and she finally just decided that it was gone. After I took some cell phone pics and video, we continued our walk. The sun was setting so we didn't have much time. About 20 mins later we are heading back by this tree and I look and the bobcat is still in the same spot. Pretty smart to stay there because if it had come down, Julie would have chased it for sure. Anyway, it was fun to see the cat...gorgeous colors (although you can't tell from my pics). I only had the cell phone with me, so not the best pics, but enough to give you an idea. Way to go Julie!

I am pretty sure this bobcat was stalking the quail that Julie flushed and that's how she got on the bobcat's trail.
