Guess a Double! - WINNERS POSTED
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
here are the results from the guess the score contest. Larry's buck grossed 94 7/8 and Chris's buck grosses 106 3/8 so the total gross score of the two bucks was 201 2/8. The top 6 guesses were all within 2/8 of an inch! And then there were many that were an inch or less off. here are the top 6 who win a CouesWhitetail.com tshirt, hat or a havalon knife....you choose. email me at amanda@coueswhitetail.com with your name and mailing address and prize selection, so I can get you a prize. Thanks to all who played and to Chris and Larry for sharing their success with us! firstcoueswas80 anthonyrmatthews youngbuck willhunt4coues Will K dzell -

So I was talking to my neighbor, who I love because he is an avid hunter, reloader and gun nut. He has taught me tons about reloading and guns over the years. Anyway, I mentioned the women's javelina hunt coming up and started talking about handguns with him. he started showing me his collection and one of the guns was a black powder revolver. I had never thought about black powder in terms of anything other than a muzzleloader so I got all interested and now I want to use that pistol to kill a javelina next month. Has anyone ever used one? This is a 6-shot revolver.....44 caliber if I remember right...I think it's cool! Who here owns one? what have you shot with it?

Cool clay! I will give him a call.

Here is a pic of my current two dogs, Julie and Sunshine. They have a ball whenever we get around snow! This photo is just a cell pic and it was taken a couple days ago on a walk not far from my house. Happy Dogs!! and here are some pics of my old dogs that we had to put down in the last few years. They were great dog friends! the shepard was a sweet old dog, so this photo always cracks me up with all her teeth snarling while playing...she looks possessed!!

Sorry, I didn't see your post until today. But the answer is no...as long as you use quotes. Try something like "24a javelina" and you will be able to search for posts with that phrase in it. apple banana Find posts that contain at least one of these words +apple +juice Find posts with both words +apple -juice Find posts with 'apple' but not 'juice' apple* Find posts with 'apple' and/or 'applesauce' "Some Words" Find posts with the phrase 'some words of wisdom', 'some words' but not 'some noise words'

here are some pics of the one I am going to use. We went out the other day practicing with it. I was pretty accurate with it out to 40 yards after we moved the sights a little. I will use shooting sticks to increase accuracy if I can. I was joking with my neighbor (Pat Termain) that we were baking cookies because we used crisco to seal each chamber to keep each shot from igniting the other chambers. And we used corn meal to take up the extra space in the chamber after we put powder in. here are some pics of the process. I loved it! Used round lead balls, even though my neighbor has made his own conical ones for hunting. chambers filled with powder and cornmeal before adding lead ball and tamping down. photo showing one chamber with lead ball before ceiling it, and one with cornmeal before adding lead ball and tamping it down to depth of the one where you can see lead ball. here is the final crisco sealing on the chambers:

Holy smokes! Can you imagine losing your hunting priviledges for 20 years in 32 states and Canada! Wow! I wonder if it means anything to them though since they don't follow the regulations anyway....I am sure the fine means something to them though! -
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing the pics of those awesome elk!

Taser vs. Stun Gun?
CouesWhitetail replied to 2 Full Curls's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
+1 on the self defense training and bear spray....easy to use and highly effective...just have them get a new can every three years or so as the company says the propellant can leak out over time -
Well, good thing you learned about trail cams on this site! Thanks again....I really do appreciate it. Stop by and say hi next time you see me. Nope the cage traps aren't mine. I haven't seen those and don't know who might own them. The truck I saw had unloaded a quad, so perhaps it was the quad hunter you saw. We were going to park there and check the cams that day, but decided to go to another area so as not to interfere with their hunt.
