More pics of Nice san Carlos coues deer, plus monster sheds
CouesWhitetail replied to nboni.2007's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Very cool!! These pics show that buck alot better than the first few you posted in another thread. Great looking buck and cool sheds. did you guys score either the buck or the sheds? -
thx for all the info! my question wasn't really about how stuff gets on the ballot, just if it required a simple majority or 2/3 of the voters to pass it once it was on there. But the other stuff you posted is interesting stuff as well! thank you.

Great article! Thanks for sharing that CayoSonora. -
Lol! Yeah Jake, spend some more time in the woods! As it is now you probably get at least 10 days a year at home and really doesn't your wife get tired of seeing you that much?? All kidding aside, I think your observations are really interesting and thanks for sharing them!

Tony or Bill, What is required currently for a citizens initiative to pass, is it 2/3 majority or is it just a simple majority? Someone recently told me they voted no on prop 109 because they thought any wildlife related initiative would require a 2/3 majority to pass and they felt that was security enough to defeat an anti-hunting initiative. I thought it only took a simple majority vote to pass. Amanda

southern Az units safety questions?
CouesWhitetail replied to 300 ultra mag's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Amanda, My bad. I was thinking it was 36C but as someone else mentioned it's mostly 36B right along the border. It's been covered here several times, but there's nothing new about it. It was closed in 2006! http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...hl=buenos+aires thx....I hunted javelina in the southern part of Buenos Aires in Jan and didn't remember any type of closure, but I see from the map in the other thread it's a very small portion of the refuge that is closed. I wanted to make sure there wasn't any new type of closure there since I am hosting a women's javelina hunting camp there in feb... -
Lark wanted me to post this for him: Got back from Colorado yesterday. Sort of a whirlwind trip. Luckily the goats co-operated. Got 3 the first day and one the third morning. Kind of a hard hunt. Had to do a lot of walking. But goats were available for the unlazy. Got home about noon and have been at the hospital pretty much since. Granddaughter is doing better. Started her off the paralyzing part of the sedati0on today and hope to take out the breathing tube in the morning. Poor little baby doesn’t have room for anymore tubes or hoses or wires. Really been a scary deal. felt like a jackass the whole time I was in Colorado, for leaving. But my daughter raised heck when we said we weren’t going, because she wanted an antelope in the freezer. Her father in law went with us and used her husband’s voucher. (totally legal) anyway, here is a photo. I made another of my patented shots with my .270. goat was running at me at 265 yards. Drilled him in the soft spot where the windpipe goes into the chest. I am such a good shot it is scary. Just can’t miss. We got 2 a little over 15 inches, mid to high 70’s. one 14 ½ incher, scores about 72 and one pretty small. Had a blast. Lark. They have dry land turtles in Colorado. This one was eating the gut pile from the goat my son, Gunner, shot the day before.

southern Az units safety questions?
CouesWhitetail replied to 300 ultra mag's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The closed area is in 36C, not 36B. It's the southern part of the Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge. Tony, Where can I get more info on the closure you are referring to? I must have missed it in the regulations? Maybe you can give me a page number or something like that. thx. -
Mason Davis sent these pics in and asked me to share them with you all. They look great to me! thanks for the support Mason. Maybe some CW.com members need your window washing service??

Local Lady Coues Hunter Needs Your Help!
CouesWhitetail replied to gilaarcher's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I will add it to my facebook page... -
I haven't ever done a 3d shoot, but it sounds like a great idea to me. I have had booths at some of the shoots and archers seem to love them and I would think there are a bunch of people who would love to do this.

In addition to all the layering advice offered, here is another item that really helps keep me warm. I have the wind-proof version and a camo version that isn't wind proof. For purely keeping warm, the wind-proof one is best. I use it if I am sitting glassing somewhere in the wind. It covers your head, neck and face. VERY WARM! I use a smaller different kind of beanie if it's not harshly cold, but when it's really cold and/or windy, the headsokz is perfect!!! http://www.buyhappyfeet.com/Headsokz

+1 It could be the same buck. As for measuring that antler, I would call the part of the antler that comes forward and curves to be the main beam. And it looks like most all the other tines would be non-typical points. Its a little hard to tell if perhaps that first point could be called a g-1, but probably not. If not, then there are no typical points on the main beam and all your 4 mass measurements would come at the same point 1/2 way between the base the tip of the main beam. Amanda
