Yes, I would love to see some pics. I actually had asked Steven Ward to take pics for me, but he said his camera fell out of his truck when he got there and it broke! And so far I haven't heard of anyone else having taken pics....if anyone has them, please post up!

Here are some pics of part of one of the gall stones that was in me....wow, I am guessing it represents 2/3 or half of the stone. I can't believe these things were in me! They tell me the stones are usually made of cholesterol (and that it does not correlate with the cholesterol level in your blood). the bottom pic shows the jagged side of where it was broken.

And let's all give John Sneed a huge thank you for running the tourament for us! He did it on very short notice and the only thing he asked for in return were a couple of CouesWhitetail.com tshirts. And thank you to those that attended the tournament! I hope we do some more in the future.

Sorry you got sick Jeremy...hope you feel better. And I am hoping you didn't end up in the ER on Sat like I did! I was so looking forward to the tournament!

Experiment on my predator rifle

I called the surgeon this morning just to fill her in on the swelling I am having and that I went to the ER last night. She wanted me to immediately come in and get an ultrasound to check for blood clots (which can be fatal). So I went back there again and had the test. They found no clots. But I still am all swollen in my abdomen and legs and even some in my feet. Weird! They gave me some stronger pain meds since the other wasn't doing much for me. So pray that I don't become some drug addicted person after taking all this medicine. One of the side effects listed is "may cause abnormal drug-seeking behavior"....yuck. The surgeon thinks I am healing well, but she was just a little concerned about the swelling. Lets see..I got to the hospital on Saturday morning, stayed overnight and had the surgery on Sunday morning, then ended up in the ER on Monday night, then again over there on Tues afternoon.....thank god we have a good hospital close to us! They really have been very nice, compassionate and professional there. Amanda

When I was coming back down from Young to go the Emergency Room, there were lots of vehicles pulled over on the road to glass. At least one had a CW.com sticker on it. If I wasn't going to the hospital I would have stopped to say hi. Near as I can remember it was on a white pickup.

I was supposed to have a relaxing weekend at Cherry Creek Lodge with my husband and some friends. But then I got sick and had to leave....bummer. But it sure is beautiful up there! Great drive to see all kinds of habitats as the elevation changes.

thanks everyone. I actually ended up going to the emergency room last night because I have a bunch of swelling in my hips, abdomen and all the way down my legs. I thought it was strange and called the ER about it and they said it could be a blood clot and to come in. Turns out it's pretty normal for post surgery because they flushed a lot of fluids in my abdominal cavity. It would be nice if they mentioned that as something to expect after surgery, but hey at least I got to find out it was "normal". I feel like I am turning into Elephant woman....apparently my body will somehow absorb those fluids back into my system for elimination. Weird!

Hey All, Many of you have eagerly been awaiting this broadhead and now it's in stock in the CW.com store. This is yet another great product made by one of our forum members! Thanks to Steven Ward for putting in the time and money to develop this head and for letting me sell it here on CouesWhitetail.com. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/in...r_broadhead.htm

Great trip...love the photos and nice sticker! -
Thanks everyone, it really helps to know you guys are praying for me and wishing me the best. It's still very painful....hard to move at all. And that is even on pain meds! Hopefully the pain won't last but a few more days.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing the pics and story. -
Thanks so much guys. I posted an update in the other threads...I am doing ok.

I am sure the Gorgonzola burgers contributed to the problem. I ate alot of cheese the week before the attack and fatty foods need the gall bladder to digest so it was working overtime. They said the gall bladder was extremely inflamed...

thanks so much for the prayers and well wishes. I am home now and doing ok. It's all very sore and hard to move around, but not too bad. Doc says no driving or lifting or jumping for at least a week. UGH... i had planned a bunch of fieldwork for this week...that would have involved some serious hiking in steep country. Guess I am just homebound for awhile. Thanks again. It sure made me feel better knowing you guys were praying for me. You should see one of the stones that was in my gall bladder! It was a lot bigger than I expected and apparently they had to break up the stones just to get the gallbladder out of the hole. I told the nurse I was doing bird research and trying to figure out why birds eat gravel...LOL!

Ok, the date has been set! John Sneed of AllStarBass.org is organizing the tournament for us, so it will be done professionally and using all the standard bass tournament rules. Date: August 7, 2010 time: 6 pm to 1 am launch location/registration: Cholla Launch Ramp, Roosevelt Lake Entry fee will be a total of $100, $80 for the tournament and $20 for Big Fish. Payback will be 80% (except for Big Fish, which will be 100% payback) and we will give prizes to one boat per every five boats entered (so if we have 20 boats we will have 4 places for prizes, 30 boats will be 6 places, etc). You can pay the entry fee at the lake when you register. Let's make this a great tournament!! If you plan to fish this, please post here so I can get an idea of how many boats we will have. Please help spread the word...the more boats...the more people can win and the more money goes to help this site!

Gorgonzola cheese and grilled onion venison burgers
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Thought I would share this meal with you all since it's a first for me. I don't usually cook with gorgonzola cheese, but picked some up the other day at trader joes, along with some creme fraiche (fancy french sour cream). Gorgonzola is a little like blue cheese but not so strong. My husband loves blue cheese on his burgers and we were out so I thought this was a good substitute. Yesterday I made a bunch of venison sausage and mixed up a batch that had worcestershire sauce, wine, oregano, roasted garlic, black pepper and some hot chili powder. I used that as burger meat for tonight and my hubby smoked the burgers on the grill and grilled a bunch of onions with it. Then I took the grilled onion and put them in a pan and mixed in some gorgonzola cheese crumbles and some creme fraiche to make a nice cheesey onion sauce. We put the onion sauce on the burgers and WOW it was TASTEY!! I should have put some mushrooms in that sauce too! here are some pics: -

Also, for safety, we will be asking for cell phone numbers when you register for the tournament. We want to make sure that everyone makes it safely off the water and if someone doesn't show up at weigh-in, then we will be calling to try and locate you. Let's make sure everyone has a safe and fun tournament! -
