Yes indeed we are having a Coues contest. And that is in addition to the Elk contest we are having this year. Doug will post guidelines soon.

What tricks have you learned from other in camp?
CouesWhitetail replied to scoutm's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I do that! Or at least I put them in an hour or so before I get out of the sleeping bag. I usually enjoy some coffee while still in my sleeping bag and let the clothes warm up then...much, much nicer! -
Thanks Tony!! Nice article.

1st ever CouesWhitetail.com Bass Tournament!
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Fishing
Sweet! Thanks to all who are planning to attend! I am looking forward to this. Likely I will only be there for registration and not weigh-in, so please take photos of everyones catch so you can post pics when you get back! Please remember that John Sneed is the tourney director and his rules are the rules for the tourney, so please respect and support his decisions out there. He is volunteering his time to run this tournament for us, so please give him a big thank you when you see him! Weather might be rainy and windy according to the forecast for the Roosevelt Lake area tomorrow afternoon....I hope it's not too bad.... See you all tomorrow afternoon. -
hehehe, now Ernesto is getting dragged into the plot....

That lion thread did seem to prompt alot of people to post photos of their mounts and several of you requested that I add a taxidermy subforum. So I have done so. I hope it is useful and fun for you all.

I enjoyed the thread while it lasted. That was the most civil discussion of it's type in the history of CouesWhitetail.com and I think that is primarily because of TAM and the way he led the discussion. Thanks to all who added thoughtful, productive comments in the thread. TAM told me he had more than enough of what he needed from the thread and he wasn't interested in seeing it go so far downhill, so thanks to everyone for helping him out.

coues deer foundationknow they
CouesWhitetail replied to azcoues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I think it's better to have the two deer together in the AZ Deer Association. It takes a lot to run an organization like that and there are some economies of scale that make it better for both species if they are together. So I think the AZ Deer Association raises more money for Coues deer as a joint mule deer/coues deer group than it would if it only served one species. But that's just my take on it.... -
Welcome back!! Coosefan is an easy target right now because his computer isn't working and he is out in the woods alot lately anyway!

but because we like the excitement of nonspecific intermittent explosions with a big ol' ball o' fire. I can just picture it!

Wow, very cool!! And I would guess the shed fell that way. That's a great find! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. And very cool snake/horned lizard pic. Just saw a horned lizard like that yesterday...only it was my dog trying to eat it not a snake

Great looking buck!! Guess you have to wait until Jan!

CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Fishing
Don't really need help with the tourney since John is providing the volunteers for that, but if you want to fish it, come on down! -
I am very excited to try this one out! No more remote for programming the cam. And it has a color viewer and has more LEDs for brighter night shots. Takes up to an 8GB SD card (the older version took 2GB) and can take up to 8 Megapixel photos. With all the extra features it will cost more than the older version, but it's worth it! NICE!! Here are the specs for the HR8.0: - Extra small size 5 1/2 H x 3 1/2 W x 2 1/4 D - 28 High intensity IR LED's with a 40' range -2.1" Color LCD for viewing pictures/video - PIR Motion Sensor with adjustable sensitivity - Extra long battery Averaging 4000+ images - Operates on 8 AA batteries (not included) - Easy programming menu - Accepts SD memory cards up to 8gb - Records still pictures or video - 1 sec to 60 min programmable delay - 1 sec to 60 sec programmable video length - Fast 1.3 second trigger speed - 3MP, 5MP or 8mp picture size (adjustable) - Operates from -4F to 140F - Threaded insert for tripod mounting - 1 year limited warranty - Mossy Oak Infinity Camo

I have read that it's up to a 1/2 inch per day in deer.

NEW DLC Covert Camera! HR8.0
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
The owner of the company said to try the card and find out. He hasn't tried one of those yet, but said he knows the fast write speed cards do make for better photos and write times to the card. Let me know what you find out.... -

Did we have a CW.com team shoot in this last year? -
We actually already do have predator callers come up and give presentations and teach predator hunting classes at BOW. But I will pass your contact info on to the director of BOW in case she needs more instructors.
