CouesWhitetail replied to bonuspointjohn's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
+1 As John said, the bill passed the Senate today, so next up is the House. If you are interested in seeing the bill pass, please contact your represenatives from the house and let them know you want them to support the bill. And if you contacted your Senators about supporting the bill, it's always a nice thing to send them a thank you for voting the way you requested. To find your representative: http://azleg.gov/alisStaticPages/HowToContactMember.asp Amanda -

Unit 37B Water Catchment Project
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Wildlife Projects
It was a fun project. I wasn't able to get there until Sat night, and most of the work was done by then. But at least I got to meet some CW.com'ers and some other folks. Thanks to Ben Brochu for his always generous feeding of the volunteers with his excellent chicken tortilla soup and wonderful breakfast burritos in the morning! This project was the 3rd of 7 planned water projects in 37B. Ben has been working hard to make sure there is a good distribution of water in some very good deer habitat. I am sure there will be opportunities in the future for those of you who want to help on other water project. It's a great way to help wildlife and get out and enjoy some time with others who share your passion. here is a fun sticker sighting at the project! That's the water buffalo that is used to haul some water. this project has some different features than the other water projects Ben did last year. This one was designed with a small dam in the drainage feeding into the area. The water is collected there and then fed into a pipe which connects to a concrete box that is used to help settle sediment out of the water before it goes into the main tanks which are underground. There is also the standard tin covering over the tanks that catches rainfall and that is fed down into the tanks. Then the entire system is setup to put water into the wildlife drinker. dam in the creek: box to catch the dirt: tin over the tanks: drinker getting filled. the water flows out of the drinker and into the underground tanks so they are getting filled also: Some of my friends came out to the project too. My friend Bonnie brought her young daughter Annie who wanted to go jackrabbit hunting. So we all went out in the desert around the project area and although we saw a couple, we didn't come home with any. Annie attended one of the AGFD jackrabbit camps and shot many jackrabbits and they enjoyed eating them, so she is on fire to get more. It was a pleasure hunting with her.
