I hope we didn't spoil him
CouesWhitetail replied to lionhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congratulations!! You didn't ruin him... Better to make this first hunt experience so easy and memorable so it will fire him up to keep hunting! And i hope you had him entered in the Coues Buck Contest! Amanda -
+1 I always try and challenge myself to get a big deer and sometimes I go home empty handed, but sometimes I shoot small buck just because it feels like the right thing at the moment. Mostly I would say it just depends on if the buck moves me in such a way that I want it. Most of the time, if they are little, I am just not interested and would rather keep hunting. I really love unique bucks, like when they have something unusual, super long beams that almost touch, nontypical points, extra main beams, extra large mass, etc. Love the diversity in antlers, so in general I try and get something that I haven't already shot. And despite what Bill Q seems to imply with his posts (in the other thread) that if you are trophy hunting you are not enjoying your hunt experience, I find exactly the opposite. The harder I hunt and the more bucks I pass on, the more I enjoy it. I hate to have a hunt end the first day and I can't think of any Coues hunt I have been on where I couldn't have shot a buck the first day. Amanda

Gorgeous critters, aren't they? Amanda

You will have to come by some time and share a bottle. It is very inviting. I love that fireplace and now it's even better! The brass covering we bought from a neighbor years ago, I think it really added to the fireplace. Amanda

I haven't had my cams out in a long time, but finally put one out about a week ago. Got some fun pics. This bull elk really fought some battles, don't you think? I am wondering if those white spots on his head aren't scars. What do you guys think? and I got some nice deer pics, no big bucks. and here is an interesting one with a fox and a mouse. 4 seconds later the mouse is gone and the fox has darted over there. I don't think he got the mouse, but he sure saw it and went after it! and here is the fox in the same pic with a spotted skunk. The fox didn't show any interest in the skunk. and here is the little cub that I have posted pics of before (at least I think it's the same one). This is the one whose mother looked like she had been freshly shot during archery season. I thought she would survive, but she didn't show up in the photos with the cub this time. He sure has grown and has a thicker coat!

That's about what I was thinking. I will go ahead and move it and expand the topic description of Other Hunting Gear to include discussion of RVs. Amanda

Hey Mike, Hope you have a spectacular day today! Thanks for all your contributions to this website Amanda

Josh, You may have to hold your own Bobcat hunting seminar. You certainly seem to be good at it! Perhaps CouesWhitetail.com can sponsor and organize you to give a seminar. Anyone interested in attending that if he is willing to do it? Amanda

They look Awesome!! Thanks for posting pics. I will add your pics to the sticker photogallery. Amanda

I really hope so too. Actually I am still hoping his mom is alive and just didn't show up in the pics. The cam is still up, so maybe I will catch her. Amanda

+1 I am guessing you could get a big bidding war going for that hide!! Amanda
-
Surely you won't sell that hide!! That's the most beautiful and unusual cat hide I have seen. Wow, it's truly awesome. Amanda

I will keep him in my prayers. It's always sad when a family has to go through this. Amanda
-
Yea, it almost just looks like a large bird pooped on his head! Amanda

PM me your address and phone number. My husband has to go to the Valley tomorrow and we would love to grab it. Amanda

Blood Drive at Bass Pro Shops Dec 19 and 20th
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Conservation Group Events
Give blood and help someone in need. Those of you familiar with the Outdoor Experience 4 All organization know they take kids with serious illnesses hunting and other outdoor adventures. One of those children, Kellie, has had to have 131 blood transfusions just to stay alive. And sometimes they have to fly blood in from out of state and she has barely received it in time. So please, this is so simple and REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE in someone's life. Besides it's a great excuse to go to Bass Pro and shop!! Bass Pro Shops HOLIDAY BLOOD DRIVE 1133 N. Dobson Rd, Mesa 85201 American Red Cross Blood Mobile Saturday, December 19 10AM – 3PM Sunday, December 20 11AM – 4PM Red_Cross_8_x_11_BassPro_Holiday_larry_.pdf -
Is this a wolf or hybrid?
CouesWhitetail replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
email AGFD and see what they think. It doesn't look near as shaggy as the wolf pics I have seen. Amanda -
Of course I am partial to the Covert Cameras that I sell here on the site. They are the smallest cams out there and have outstanding battery life and video and photo quality. Personally, I enjoy hiking out to my trail cams. But I suppose if you don't live near where you have your cams, then getting your images sent to your computer would be handy. But of course that all comes at an extra price. read more about Covert Trail Cameras and see sample photo and video here: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm One of our forum members wrote up a review of the Covert 2 here: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...showtopic=13780

Great trip report Chris. Thanks for the post. After using Scott's 30's a bunch, I sure can appreciate how much you are enjoying your new binos. Amanda
