    Latest Covert II pics.

Gino, the batteries are AA, and each cam using 8 of them. They can last like 4,000 or more photos. I did have one of my cams recently not last that long, but I don't know what was up with that. I think it was set to video and video seems to use up the batteries faster, especially if you got more night video. You can buy a solar panel for these little cams. I think Moultrie makes them, I don't sell them. It has to be a 6 volt unit. I haven't yet done this with these cams. for more info on the cams: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/trail_cameras.htm Amanda

    Giant Coues Set

Let's hope your buddy decides to bring them to one of the CouesWhitetail.com gatherings this summer! There is one coming up June 19-21 near Flagstaff. Or have him buy an AZ Deer Association banquet ticket and bring them to the banquet for everyone to see!! What a monster! Amazing find! Amanda

  4. Ok, so we have one table of 10 filled already for CW.com'ers but I know there are a few more of you that would like to go. I am wondering if we can get 10 more and fill a 2nd table. So far, we have: Hector (Chef) with 4 tickets Phil (Cramerhunts) with 5 tickets Nathan LaCost - 1 ticket (check sent??) and Nathan I checked and we can hang your giant buck with the ADA collection if you will bring it. Can't wait to see it. I know Ajohunter wants to go, but I told him I wasn't sure about getting another table of 10. This is a fun event and it's even more fun to go with your friends and to meet new friends that are Coues fanatics. Date is June 27 in Scottsdale and cost is $65. If you want to see some of the hunts donated so far for the live auction, visit http://www.azdeer.org we will be having a raffle with 40 guns. And of course we will have some great items in the silent auction. Amanda

    AZ Deer Association Banquet

It'd be awesome if Grong comes and brings some nice WT sheds! Speaking of which, if anyone has any sheds or mounts they want to share with the group at the fundraiser, feel free to bring them. It's always great to see what people have! Amanda

I wipe mine down with scent-free stuff just to help keep the bears away. Seems to help, but still they sometimes just see something different and have to take a look. Bears are always curious about stuff. Amanda

Great pics Scott!! Glad you are enjoying those cams!! It's always nice to hear they are working well for customers. Not often you get a mearns to stand still for a photo! I recently had both of my cams messed with by bears, but they didn't hurt the cams. Even though the bears moved the cams by 10 feet or more and one came off the tripod it was on. Amanda

    Owls vs. Mice video

Glad you guys enjoyed it. It's fun to make. It all happens so fast in the field that it's neat to be able to see it slowed down so you can see more of what's happening. Amanda

    Owls vs. Mice video

They are great predators! It's truly amazing to see them turn from a sleepy owl into a absolutely focused predator when I put a mouse out. Mice are provided by me. It's part of a formal survey protocol (for which federal and state permits are required) that makes it far more efficient to locate the nest and young. Amanda

Need Help for ADA Silent Auction

    Thanks Matthew!! Amanda
  14. hey Guys, I am in charge of the AZ Deer Association's silent auction this year and am in need of donations! If you think you might be able to donate something let me know. It can be used, but only if it's in great condition. Things that tend to do well include hunting or camping equipment (guns, binos, tripods, tents, backpacks, GPS, radios, etc), wildlife art (paintings, prints, bronze, etc), and hunting and fishing trips (local or international). Or maybe you have some mounts or sheds you don't want anymore. Those can do well. But you can also do stuff that isn't related to hunting, like donating a service of some kind (auto repair, bug extermination package, etc). Or if you have a way to get some vacation type trips donated, those are good too, like golf packages, or spa packages, or whatever. I could also use help on the evening on the banquet. I know Christian said he would help, but I could use about 4 reliable people to help set up and closeout the auctions at the end of the evening. So if you are interested, let me know. If you don't have a service or item to donate, but would still like to help you can always make a cash donation and we can use it to get stuff to auction off. Amanda

    Arizona Deer Assoc. HELP

Actually, there is an all-ecompassing group that is more of a political voice for hunters. It's not species specific, it's hunting and fishing specific. It's called Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife. http://www.arizonasportsmenforwildlife.org/index.asp Prior to AZSFW, there was the Wildlife Conservation Council which worked to get all groups together for one voice. Each group sent a rep to those meetings. But it is now looking like the WCC will merge with the non-profit arm of the AZSFW, which is called AZ sportsmen for wildlife conservation (AZSFWC). Amanda

    Arizona Deer Assoc. HELP

I hate going to PHX as well and try to avoid it whenever I can. In the past we have had board members from far away places (like Springerville) and they participated by conference call during the meetings. As Keith mentioned there are lots of ways to get involved with that do not require going to meetings or fundraisers in PHX. The ADA is always looking for volunteers to help with habitat improvement projects throughout the state. Go spend a weekend building a wildlife water. You could even sit on the committee that reviews the habitat projects that get funded by the tag fund sales. We always need help there. Being on the habitat committee does not require you to live in a big city or attend lots of meetings. Youth camps are another area where you can help but don't have to go anywhere near phx. There are generally camps in unit 36a, 23, and 20C. Or if you want to help with the fundraiser, but don't want to go to it, you can make phone calls to businesses asking for donations. Or if you don't have the time or desire to do that, you can just make your own monetary donation. Just signing up as a member is a useful way to support the organization. That may be the simplest way anyone can help. If you are motivated, you could even form a chapter in your area. Want more representation in Tucson? Get a chapter formed with a board to make decisions on how you can help deer in the surrounding area. We have one very active chapter that is way up by the Kaibab. They have their own fundraiser and focus on their own projects up there. to learn more about the organization, visit http://www.azdeer.org Amanda

    Bowhunting for Women

You might want to call my friend Kathy Greene. She is an archery champion and works for PSE in Tucson. She helped me get my bow ready for my elk hunt. I will PM you her phone/email. You might also check a site called WomenHunters.org, lots of women archers over there. I shoot an older PSE bow (the stingray I believe). It's a fine bow, but there are so many great newer models out there to choose from. Amanda

Taking Hunter Ed one step further

If anyone is looking to volunteer to help kids, Outdoor Experience 4 All might be a good organization for you to help with. There is a volunteer form on the site that you can download and fill out if you are interested. Or meet up with Eddy at the Mesa AGFD office on June 9 to talk about possibilities. Amanda

Taking Hunter Ed one step further

Hi All, I have been working with a new organization called Outdoor Experience 4 All. This group is dedicated to helping kids experience the outdoors. On June 6-7 they are working with another group to put on a more intensive Hunter Ed class for kids who have already taken the regular hunter ed. This will be done up at Heber and the kids will get some excellent hands-on instruction. I will be going up to help out. If anyone has some kids they want to get signed up, here is the link to the announcement. Space is limited, so call to make sure they can get in. http://www.outdoorexperienceforall.org/calendar.html
