Sportsmanswarehouse going out of business?
CouesWhitetail replied to hawkeye's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I sure hope Sportsman's Warehouse doesn't go out of business!! I love those stores! And by the way, Sportsman's Warehouse, specifically the store in Mesa has been supporting this website for years with donations to the Coues Buck Contest and other contests. This year they stepped up and donated a great GPS unit, the Garmin 60csx GPS unit! Thanks so much to Sportsman's for supporting CouesWhitetail.com! Amanda -
Very nice! Does you cam have a video feature? it would be cool to watch some video of the bucks doing their thing at the scrape. Amanda

Stories of Your First Coues Hunts
CouesWhitetail replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Tyson, I missed your story too, until now. Wow, great write up!! I too enjoyed all the details and emotions. Congratulations on that fine hunt. Amanda -
Yes, I know it's not a great photo, but still I was happy when I realized what was there. It was a first for me on a trail cam.

Sunset during archery deer hunt last week. I thought it was amazing! Had to stop and take some pics on the way back to the truck. -
Very nice!! Congrats on a great trophy! Amanda

It was in a saddle. The pictures span a period of 3 weeks. I had a total of 24 pics. Still using 35mm roll film. The camera was so far back in that it took me a while to get back to it. Very cool! Hope you left it out there or got it set up in a new spot. Bet you would enjoy going digital on your trail cams! Amanda

I received this email and figured someone here might need a couple labradors. Bet they would love to get out and fetch ducks and quail!!! Or just roam the hills with you. Amanda COCO and COOKIE need a home. Please cross post ,,,,Focus on the dogs, not the owner. As many of you know, we are moving in just 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I have still not been able to find a good home for Cookie and Coco. We're not able to take our beloved doggies with us and I've been desperately trying to find a home for both of them "together" They were raised together and pine without each other. The Lab rescue have already said that they would probably separate them, so this is my last resort. Recently I tried to take Coco out in my car alone and she TOTALLY refused to even get into the car without Cookie. She absolutely pulled back on her haunches until Cookie was by her side. Both doggies are 3 years old, in great health, have been spayed and chipped. Cookie is my mellow-yellow, and just loves her tummy rubbed. Coco is adorably funny and lives for her "ball". She also loves the water..... Cookie loves lots of attention. Both doggies are loyal and love to walk. They have been raised with my 3 kids running around all over the place, and have survived Sammy's constant hugging and love of 'dress-up', so they are fantastic family dogs. This is by far one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, but under the circumstances I have no choice. Please, forward these pics to all you know and help me find a great home for these fabulous doggies. They are just adorable and it's heartbreaking to let them go. In a perfect world, I hope that we could find someone local so that we can still keep in touch and visit them. I pray that someone, somewhere can help us keep Cookie and Coco together, and love them just as much as we do. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Best Regards, Sarah. Please contact Trish Penick if you would like to help these 2 beautiful labs Sarah is giving up trishpenick@cox.net

What to look for terrain wise...
CouesWhitetail replied to TEmbry's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Perhaps you already read the Coues deer habitat section on the main site, but if you haven't there is some good info there: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biolog...eer_habitat.htm I am like AZAntlerhead and kind of obsessed with studying topos and feel naked in the woods without a topo! It can be pretty easy to pick out what is the best deer habitat by looking at a topo. And I will reiterate what Steven said about water being the key. I look for a place away from roads and with a couple reliable water sources. I love places that have a several springs scattered in a couple square miles. You just know deer will be there. And of course it all depends on what you like for terrain to hunt in. Some like it rough, some like it flat. Coues deer are in both and everything in between. As far as elevation, a general rule of thumb is between 4-6,000 ft. Amanda -

The second toe never got down.

A Steelers site shows the two feet down. What a heartbreaking game!! -
Hey, just saw your pics....nice! Did you just set the cam up in a saddle or was there some kind of water attracting the game there? Amanda
-
I would imagine they already thought of the idea of a live feed on the website and rejected the idea for some reason. It's a rather obvious idea, but I might contact whoever is in charge of the way they are doing it now and see if they can just make it a live feed on their site. That sure would be nice. Amanda
-
As I read it, it's not just broadcast online or somewhere for everyone, but apparently you have to be at a AGFD office to view this? I wonder why they limited it that way. A live stream on their website would allow more people to access it. People could listen to the meeting at their office while working on something else. Amanda

I agree.....this is a problem. Can't afford as many cams as I would like to set out....but WillHunt4Coues says he will loan me some cams if I want! Thanks Clay! Hate to be responsible for getting someone elses cam stolen though! The good thing is that it's fun to try and think up places that most people won't go and that have water so you can set out the cams and not worry about it. And again, I have to thank Clay for sharing a great spot with me. At least it makes for more interesting dog walks when there is a trail camera to go check! Amanda
-
Excellent!! That seems like a very good idea. It means I won't have to video tape and post meetings anymore! Interesting that you can submit blue slips as if you were attending the meeting. That's cool. I hope the program works and we see more hunters participating in the meetings! Amanda

I think the cat must have been moving quickly also, or I would have caught it more in the middle of the pic. I was really wishing I had my Covert II out at that spot at that moment since it has a little more light and I might have gotten a better pic. But who knows. I was still happy to get it. At first I just thought nothing was there. I repositioned the cam the other day and set it to video, so maybe I will have some better stuff next time. Amanda

Good idea Clay. Several of us have already done that and hopefully more will. Amanda

Awesome Gino and crew!! Those are some great bucks all around! Thanks for taking the time to write it up and post! Amanda -
Tell him we miss him!! Seems to me he stopped posting around here right after some people made some negative comments about him in a thread here. So this is just a reminder to everyone that your comments in the forum can have unintended consequences. Amanda
