Bucks chasing does???
CouesWhitetail replied to mattobertin's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Seemed like early rut activity going on in 27. We watched bucks following does. Other days the bucks were still in groups sparring as I would expect for this time of year, but some mornings the bucks were separating and following does. Amanda -
I don't know any details.....Clay will have to fill you in. And he might have some more pics of his buck also, I suspect. Amanda

Thanks for the report. Nice doe and fawn pic....how close were you on that one? Does your dog ride on the ATV while you are driving it? I was out the other day and not sure how to put my dog on it. I figure I would have to hold her or she would fall or jump off. Hey, if you had turned that CW hat a little more toward the camera that would have been a neat pic! Amanda

Nice pics....taken with the new cam? That's a funky antler on one of those bulls. Amanda

Daughter's first Coues
CouesWhitetail replied to Coues&Coyotes's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Awesome!! Don't forget to email me the photos with her name and hunt info so I can post them in the photogallery in addition to having them here in the forum. Amanda -
Do you have a bipod on your rifle? It's still good to do something to support the stock. Last year, I used my bipod up front and a tripod to support the back. It takes a fair amount of time to set it up to get the right angle. That is my only complaint about that way. That outdoorsmans mount looks very nice, but I would have the same problem with adjusting things quickly enough (since I don't have a pistol grip head). Amanda

You can buy one in the CouesWhitetail.com store. Look at the last item on this page, it's called Jimmy's Rifle rest. It's u-shaped rather than V-shaped, but it works very well. Just screws onto your tripod or the plate in your tripod head. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/adaptors.htm Amanda

Zeiss 15x45 Conquest... Has anyone used them?
CouesWhitetail replied to DesertDweller's topic in Optics and tripods
Well, just as you would suspect, they do not have the light gathering ability due to the smaller objective lens, but they are light and a pleasure to carry. There is always a trade-off and to some the loss of light gathering is a fine trade-off for lighter binos. The 15x56's are much better, but much heavier....so it's personal preference. Amanda -
Short trip to unit 27.....Continued.

Way to go Brent!! Glad you got to get out there and hunt and get a fine buck as well!! Amanda -
Lyme disease is spread to people by a direct bite from a deer tick, not by eating meat of a deer bitten by a tick. And I also think the ticks you saw in the ears are not the same as the deer tick that spreads lyme disease. Deer ticks that carry lyme disease are extremely small, like the head on a pin. I did recently talk to someone who said she knew someone who was were sure she contracted Lyme disease in Arizona since she hadn't been anywhere else, but if true, it's extremely rare. Lyme disease is much more common in the eastern half of the country. Amanda
