Thanks Tony. Here is another design using Rembrant's pen and ink of Clay Goldman's buck. http://www.customink.com/cink/r.jsp?E=aman...p;cm_ite=design I am still trying to find out from the printer if they can make it look good or not. They have problem getting the subtle shading on things right. Apparently the solid shading on the deer on the front is much easier than the stippling that is in the drawing on the back. Which is why Bill Quimby's circular logo works well, but some of his other full color, more detailed ones don't. Amanda
  2. which solar panel do you use gamehauler?
  3. The moultrie's sold at Walmart and Sportsmen's are the cheapest I know of and they seem to work ok. I have had mixed luck with them. I have two and one works better than the other. The trigger speed is a bit slow I think. But for $100 it's pretty good. Amanda

Do you use the pocket? Or you just like the looks better? Amanda

Ok, here it is in black with white ink. Looks pretty cool. I also was able to use one of Bill Quimby's logos on the front. Yeah! He has made several for me (thanks Bill!) which I really like. Most are full color and complicated to convert on a simple shirt, but this one looks good as just white. Bill if you read this, just wanted to let you know I am still working on getting your other designs on a shirt. They are great designs, but when they do these shirts they modify them, so I want to make sure it will look good. http://customink.com/cink/r.jsp?E=amanda%4...amp;F=bestblack I am sure this one could be done in blue or dark green too, if you don't want a black tshirt. You got it Casey! How many of you would order XXXL if I had them? I only ordered up to XXL but they have larger. Amanda

Jamaro, that's funny! Hey, if enough people can decide on a color they like, I can probably get some made with it. What color would you like Jamaro? I tried the design on several colors and these two were the best (of course I had to go with orange in honor of GRONG and his never ending supply of orange shirts he wears while picking up sheds). I think grey looked pretty good, but the dark design on a dark shirt didn't look so hot. Sorry Casey, Josh Ebert ordered a shirt before you, so I suppose he's got number 1.....your getting slow on the trigger finger I guess.... Amanda

    New Mexico Hunting tournament

Interesting idea to have a multiplier so that you can compare WT and MD in the same ranking. Wonder how well that works? Amanda

Right now, I only have two colors. I might get some others in, but I can't really afford to carry an inventory of a bunch of colors. I imagine I will get other colors when I get some other designs. For those wondering, that cedro buck design didn't look right, so I cancelled that one (it would have been a nice grey shirt). Amanda

  16. I enjoyed reading this one this past summer. Makes me want to go live in Alaska. North to Wolf Country - My Life Among the Creatures of Alaska by James W. Brooks (From the back cover of the book) Stories of an Alaskan Conservationist. James W. Brooks packed several lifetimes of adventure into his sixty-five years in Alaska - working as a fisherman, trapper, musher, miner, wartime flyer, bush pilot, and whale biologist. In a beautifully written memoir, Brooks tells of being drawn to the North, where he lived off the land in the final years of the Territory of Alaska. Later, he served as commissioner of fish and game under two governors. Literally, Brooks lived and worked among the creatures of Alaska, from the walrus and seal habitats of the Bering Sea to the commercial fisheries in the Panhandle, and from the vast waterfowl nesting grounds of the Southwest river deltas to the harsh Arctic home of the polar bear. Brooks balanced politics and science in dealing with battles over wildlife management including controversial aerial wolf hunting intended to conserve moose populations that feed may two-legged creatures of Alaska. "This is what dreams are made of - a teenager runs away to Alaska becoming a salmon fisherman, trapper, bush pilot, and internationally respected wildlife biologist. A super read!" Jim Rearden, best selling author of Arctic Bush Pilot.

anyone got their money back yet?

Lark, you are too funny Bill, wow, talk about tough times on your hunt. Glad you persevered though! Amanda

    Does????

Research by AGFD showed peak fawning to be in August. So the fawns could be hiding somewhere. here is more info on the life stages of Coues http://www.coueswhitetail.com/coues_biology/life_stages.htm When a deer stomps it's foot it generally means it is alerted to some kind of danger. Stomping it's foot can be a way to alert other deer of possible danger and also to startle the object (say a lion or coyote) into moving so the deer can confirm it's really there. It may also be a way of the deer sort of signaling to a predator something like "hey, I see you already, don't bother to attack me". Amanda

    Found arrowed deer

Marty Henrikson found this buck along with a pile of bones and an arrow in it. He would like it to go to the person who hunting this buck. He was in Unit 33. If you believe this was a deer you shot and lost, you can email me with information on the location as well as information on the arrow (size, vane length, color of vanes, type of arrow and broadhead, etc). 20. This time of year my husband and I harvest prickly pear fruits and juice them. Ppear juice is a gorgeous magenta color and super healthy with lots of vitamins, especially vitamin C. The juice is great for just a nice cool drink or to mix with margaritas or other drinks. I will be making ppear margaritas for about 100 women this weekend in Prescott at the Becoming an Outdoors woman workshop. They love 'em. We juice lots and put the juice in empty gatorade bottles and freeze them so we can have juice throughout the year. You can also boil it down to make a syrup that you can use for lots of things, lately we use it as a glaze to add to grilled meat or bbq sauces. It doesn't have a real strong flavor, but it adds great color and is good for you. here is a document with "how to" directions and nutritional info that we made up since people always ask us about it. Prickly_Pear_Juice.doc Those of you who might be interested in hearing more about it, or are looking for an event to do with your kids, there is a good class at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior (my hubby works there) coming up soon. here is the press release about it in case anyone wants to go: "Opuntia Punch" Class… or How-to-Juice-Prickly-Pear-Cactus-Fruit Aug. 26 and again Sept. 1 at 10:30 a.m. Have you ever sipped a prickly pear fruit margarita or nibbled candy made from cactus fruit? If so, you're already aware that nothing compares to the subtle flavor and outrageous magenta color of juice from the prickly pear cacti that can be harvested throughout Arizona. Our popular one-hour class is offered to visitors towards the end of each summer when prickly pear fruit ripen. Come learn how to harvest opuntia cactus fruits and extract their juice without turning your hands into a "porcupine" of painful glochids and cactus spines. Apache Junction author Jean Groen ("Foods of the Superstitions") is our harvest season guest on Sunday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. This same class repeats on Saturday, Sept. 1. Prickly Pear season

Interesting news from the state agriculture guy. Why would state ag have jurisdication over cactus though? Could the Dept of Ag guy just been saying that there are no dept of ag restrictions on moving prickly pear fruit within the state? Dept of Ag may just be worried about disease transmission with regard to moving fruit. But their probably still are restrictions on taking plant parts from state lands and federal lands. It reminds me of going through the border in nogales with deer and the USFWS says they don't have restrictions on some parts of the deer, but dept of agriculture does. So one agency will tell you there are no restrictions, but what they really mean is that there are no restrictions on that product within their own dept. Anyway, Marshall, my husband says email him and he can hook you up with some private land that you can pick on. Email him with your current address so he can recommend the people closest to you. He says you have his email address already. Amanda

    Lion?

Canine. I think it looks rounder than it should because of the mud (the right front toepad pushed outward and back a little) and there is another track inside the bottom of the first track. So it rounded out that back and gives that track a little bit of an oval appearance.

    Lunar Eclipse tonight

Nice! Sounds like a great way to watch it. Amanda
  25. There will be a total lunar eclipse from about 3 am to 4 am (Aug 28), but if you want to see it progressing toward total, then get up earlier. Or you can watch it retreat I think after 4 am. I think it ends by about 5:30 am, so you might be able to watch from 4:30 to 5:30 and see it retreating. Amanda http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmo...E2007Aug28.html
