Favorite Trophy Photos
CouesWhitetail replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Wow, you guys are posting some amazing animals! FYI - I posted pics of Jeremy's archery buck in the ADA banquet thread. I had a real hard time letting go of Jeremy's buck once I held it! It's amazing!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing it Jeremy! Maybe he could post a field photo of it? The photo I got of it doesn't show a side view at all. Amanda -
Arizona Deer Association Banquet

And here are a few pics from around the banquet hall..... A few big bucks in the ADA trophy display that was there: And here is the original pastel donated by Mike Fabritz (aka Rembrant). THANKS Mike! I forgot what it sold for but it was somewhere around $1800 (correct me if I am wrong Mike). It's a gorgeous pastel drawing. Just beautiful and framed in an original frame inlayed with prickly pear cactus skeleton. Great work Mike! Some other scenes around the banquet: It was a great evening and we had about 525 people there and raised a lot of money for wildlife projects. I think the special commissioner's Coues tag sold for about $24,000! (someone correct me if I am remembering wrong. I was running around all night so I didn't keep close track of a lot of things!) Arizona Deer Association Banquet

You are very welcome Christian! Thanks to everyone who came, it was a fun evening! We had two tables and one table seemed to not have any luck winning and the other table won a couple guns and maybe some more stuff I didn't see. It sure was great meeting some new people and also getting to know others of you a little better. I had a great time and loved seeing some of the bucks brought in! Desertsheep brought a 130 buck one his clients got in Mexico and it was awesome! That buck was extremely massive and the weight felt really heavy when you held it. Just a monster of a buck. here is a pic: Another buck that I absolutely loved was brought in by Jeremy Ulmer. He got this buck with his bow and it's a 125 inch monster with 5 inch bases and a 16 inch inside spread! He took the buck in Dec 2006 from a treestand after waiting for just the right shot while the buck was near him for 30 mins! Can you imagine the adrenaline??? wow.... Jeremy is holding that buck on the right in this photo. You can't imagine just how heavy this rack is. It actually weighs more than that 130 buck Jason brought in. And jeremy brought in some sheds he has found (not from the archery buck he took). Oh my!!! these things are amazing! (these were previously posted in the forum in the "Who needs Mexico" thread). Jeremy found these in 2005. These sheds would be from roughly a 128 inch buck if you gave him a 12 inch spread! and here is a droptine shed which if you doubled it would be about a 115 inch buck. Jeremy found this one in 2006. Thanks to Jeremy and Jason for bringing in those bucks! I was drooling! And thanks to Peloncillo for bringing in his awesome bucks also (but I have posted those pics previously). And also my friend Beth brought her 119 buck in from mexico. Amanda -
Way Cool Andy and Dogman! Thanks for the pics! Some amazing dogs and a pretty smart lion finding a spot you guys couldn't get him even when he was cornered! Amanda

Thanks Jim! For those that don't know Jim, he is the Regional Game Specialist for AGFD out of the Tucson office. He is a certified DEERNUT and has recently published a great book covering all kinds of topics related to both mule deer and whitetails. Check out his website and order a copy of the book! Amanda

Nice Gamehauler! I got to meet another CW.com'er (Dan Hoffman) the other day when we were helping on the three bar deer drive project. Here is his jeep. I thought it looked cool! I like how he rigged up a place to keep a shovel on his hood by the window.

Amazing! What are the measurements? Amanda

Please see attached flyer for ADBSS work project in the Grand Wash Cliffs of unit 13B during the weekend of April 27-29. This is in a remote area and they are looking for help on this project. Details are in the attached PDF file. elsinger_flyer.pdf

keep those pics coming Christian! I am enjoying them! Amanda

Actually, yes, Jim said he could modify it so it would work with those Minox 15x58s. However, it would increase the cost of the tripler. you can call him directly to ask him about it if you like. 928-635-5316 Amanda

I emailed Jim H. to let him know about the topic. Awhile back he told me AGFD was going to have someone watching the forum and get appropriate personnel to reply to topics that were relevant. Hopefully we will get some AGFD input on this one. Amanda

Well, that "favorite photo of 2006" thread got me distracted and instead of doing the work I need to do to get ready for my field season, I spent some time putting together another Coues Deer Celebration video. It's shorter than usual, and it focuses mostly on monster bucks. I am sure I missed several, and I will probably make another video later in the year, but this one is pretty cool (I think)!! Check it out and let me know what you think. Make sure you have the speakers on and volume up! It's the third video listed on the following page: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/video_clips/video_clips.htm Amanda

I was wondering who would point out that they are deer ears! hehehee, still darn funny! Amanda -
Keith, Looks like you should take a break from yardwork for awhile and go watch the Coues Celebration video I just posted. Your boy is in it! Amanda

OUCH!! That's gotta hurt! I had a big bruise on my thigh after hunting season (not quite as big as yours) that was from the handle bar of my ATV slamming back into my leg when I was enjoying the scenery and not paying attention to where I was going. I was standing up at the time too, so it just jerked back and felt like someone took a baseball bat full force to my thigh! Those bruises take forever to go away. I swear I can still see and feel it and it's been like 6 months! Kickboxing, huh? How long ago did you do that? Amanda

I thought about throwing some of the orange shirts in......but you know I could make an entire video of Josh and his orange shirts.....hehehehe Amanda -
Sorry, it looks like the formatting on that table didn't work out. I will see if I can get it to show up properly. Might take awhile..... (ok, I added in the dots to make the columns work)

Buck to doe ratios are more commonly given in terms of bucks per 100 does. So if you have 1 buck for every 2 does, that is 50 bucks per 100 does. Hunter harvest drives down buck:doe ratios. In general, the more hunters, the more mortality on the bucks increases. Most of the WT hunt units in AZ have somewhere around 20-35 bucks per 100 does. When I first started this website, I put the data for WT from the Hunt Arizona publication from AGFD. Every year AGFD publishes (I think the next one will come out in May?) the survey data they have for each unit. They also have some summaries of the last five years. Here is a link to a five year summary of data from 1997 to 2001. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/where_to_hun..._coues_data.htm That data and more are in the Where to Hunt section of the main CouesWhitetail.com website. Here is what AGFD recommended for the 2006-07 hunt guidelines for Whitetailed deer: Permits should :...............Decrease..............Stay the Same........Increase Fawns:100 Does................Below 35..............35 to 45.................Above 45 Bucks:100 Does................Below 20..............20 to 30.................Above 30 Hunt Success....................Below 15%...........15 to 20%..............Above 20% Population Trend...............Declining...............Stable...................Increasing So AGFD will change their hunt recommendations based on the data from surveys flown in the winter. The table above shows that AGFD will recommend an increase in permits (tags) if the buck to doe ratio gets above 30. Amanda

Well, I like the idea of orange CW.com tshirts, but I don't know about GRONG! And I sure as heck am not putting his ugly avatar on those shirts!! Everytime I look at that ugly picture I think you are going to start smoking a joint and singing an Elton John song (those shades have to go!) Amanda

Yes Joe, that tripler works on the zeiss classics. Fits very nicely. Thank Allen for the comparison. Amanda
