Looking for a good taxidermist
CouesWhitetail replied to The Chase's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Weller's Wildlife Studio in Tucson is also excellent. And they just signed on to be a sponsor on this website. So please, give that some consideration when looking for a taxidermist. I have known the owners of Weller's for many years and they really do some nice work. And they have excellent turnaround time, avg is 6 months. Check out their website: Weller's Wildlife Studio Amanda Here are some photos of Coues deer they have mounted: -

CouesWhitetail replied to matthewp45's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Ok, here are his pics, they are posted in the San Carlos Photogallery but I have them linked to here too: Great buck!! and what a treat to have been able to hunt R100. I am jealous!! Amanda -
I think the hunt story page didn't post quite right yesterday. So I reloaded it and the Jack Luffy story is one of the last one's listed on the hunt story page. You should be able to see it now. If not, here is a direct link to the story: Jack Luffy hunt story And thanks for the Bday wishes!!! Amanda

Happy belated birthday C.W..com
CouesWhitetail replied to Rembrant's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Thanks everyone. And thanks for letting me know how much you like the site. I am really glad the site has grown so much and that it is useful to people. For those of you that are new to the site, don't forget that this forum is just part of a larger site. The main CW.com webpage has links to the main photogalleries and lots of info on biology and hunting tactics and much more. CouesWhitetail.com main page This site has definitely helped me meet some great people! I have been able to stay over at Ernesto's house when I happened to be passing through Yuma, been in the field with RedRabbit huntin elk, and I have met several of you all at various places all over the state just because you saw the sticker on the back of my Jeep. Heck I even bumped into some CW.com regulars at a New Year's eve party the other night!! And I have gotten to meet lots of you guys by scoring your deer and other trophies - way too many to list here. In fact, tomorrow I head to Douglas to score some deer for a hunt club down there because one of it's members knew me through this site and I had scored some of his other deer. So if anyone is down in Douglas Tues or Wed this week, send me an email and maybe we can meet up. Thanks to all you guys who share your pictures, hunt stories and tactics. Without the new content you guys send me, this site wouldn't have grown as much or be nearly as useful or interesting! And many thanks to those who have sent in donations, paid for advertising, or bought things through this site. That money helps maintain and improve this site. Amanda -
email me the photos along with your name and mention this posting so I can get it in the right place. Thanks. Amanda

Jeff, I think you should see it in the sent folder. Why don't you send me a test PM and I will let you know if I receive it. Amanda

San Carlos tag fees way up
CouesWhitetail replied to Grayghos's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Jamaro and Treestandman.... if you can't be civil, don't post on this forum. I have deleted the posts that were personal attacks on each other. Please don't resort to name calling. And thank you Chef for stepping in. I very much appreciate it. Amanda -
Are you Scott Weiss? If so, then I never received any email from you other than your order. And I emailed you on the 28th to let you know that your order would go out that day or the 29th. Did you not recieve that email? Your order should be there by the end of the week. You don't see the Vic 550 on the site anymore because that tripod has been discontinued. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can email me directly or post here if you want. Amanda

Scoring coues racks
CouesWhitetail replied to TREESTANDMAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Josh, I assume you are joking with that question....but for those who might not know, the Pope and Young recordbook only recognizes animals harvested with a bow. Boone and Crockett accepts trophies taken with pretty much any legal hunting method. However, B&C doesn't allow for antlers with velvet on them. the velvet has to be removed at least enough so that it doesn't interfere with the measurements. The entry requirements are generally lower for P&Y than for B&C due to the difficulty of getting a trophy with archery equipment. If you take your trophy with a muzzleloader you can enter it in B&C if it meets the minimums or you can put it in the muzzleloader recordbook maintained by the Longhunter Society (National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association). All this info is on that how to score page and recordbook page of my website. Along with links to some of the different organizations. Amanda -
Coues in Rut in the Rain?
CouesWhitetail replied to matthewp45's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
R-100 is a choice unit! You should have a great hunt. I love that area. And I agree with what Treestandman said...it depends on how hard it's raining. Let us know how you do! Amanda -

Scoring coues racks
CouesWhitetail replied to TREESTANDMAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
You can also view the scoring info page I have on this website by going to the How To Score Coues deer page If the deer actually has seperate main beams (meaning they actually come out of the head seperately) it is considered a freak and not scoreable under Boone and Crockett. (Pope and Young will accept them if taken by a bow) However, most deer, just have branches that come off the main beam, not truly seperate main beams. (like the one in the recent guess the score contest) To measure a buck like that you just have to decide which is the actual main beam and then the rest are just non-typical points. Then the four circumferences are taken on what is decided to be the main beam. Amanda -

If I thought a buck I hit had died and I just couldn't find it, I wouldn't hunt anymore. I did that on a javelina hunt I had once. I arrowed the javelina with what seemed to be a fatal shot, but we never found him after a few days of searching. But I was pretty sure it was fatal, so I just considered my tag filled and stopped hunting. I hope other hunters would do the same. I suppose there are times when someone hits an animal but they think it's not a fatal shot. That's a different scenario than the one you described. Amanda

Great photos Scott, what an awesome buck! Am I going to get to post pics of the happy hunter???? Amanda

My first Coues, 112 inch
CouesWhitetail replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Wow Mark, awesome! It's a shame you lost that spike though. Hopefully he will recover. Can't believe you got several chances at that buck! You must have had that stand in a great spot. Amanda -
Congrats to your uncle! Hey, standman, if you want to show a photo that is posted somewhere on the internet, use the IMG button (stands for image). Click on the button when you get to the area where you want the photo to appear, then paste in the link. If you do that the photo should show up without people having to click on the link. Amanda
-
RabidApache, Welcome and Congratulations on your Coues deer. You can email the pics if you have any and I will post them for you. Please include any info about the hunt with the photo too. Amanda
-
Josh, use the IMG button and cut and paste the link into there. Then the image will show without them having to click on a link. And one of those links had too many http's in it, which is why it didn't work when you click on it. Anyway, here are the photos. They are beautiful, nice composition Josh! And great buck! Amanda
