Repairing hiking boot with Mcnett seam grip
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Just an update....this repair has held up perfectly! We have done lots of hiking in steep, rocky and even very wet terrain during the last three weeks. In fact the other side of that boot blew out, but not the recently sealed side. This stuff is awesome! -
I recently noticed the seam sealant peeling off my old backpacking tent and so I purchased some Seam Grip made by McNett. I quickly realized this product is good for all kinds of repairs and I just used it to fix my husband's hiking boots that had a blow out in the front side of one of the boots. The boot had separated from the sole creating a hole that was several inches long. Sorry I didn't take any pics before I did the repair, but I added yellow arrows to the photo to show the area where the rip was. Basically the boot material was completely separated from the sole for the entire length outlined by the arrows. I cleaned the boot and then started applying the Seam Grip (which I think is every similar to Shoe Goo, which I didn't have at the time). Because it was too hard to clamp this rip together, I just kept adding Seam Grip and letting it dry for a 1/2 hour or so before applying more and letting it dry and then eventually I had built it up enough so it would seal the entire rip. If I had used some sort of patching material, then I wouldn't have had to keep applying the seam grip. But without a patch, the seam grip wouldn't form a bridge right away because before it dries it is too liquid to stay in place over a gap. After drying overnight, i am super impressed with the seal and material. It seems like a great fix that will last a long time. I might even be able to repair some of my old danners with this stuff. I will repost after my husband hikes some miles in this boot and let ya'll know how well it holds up. The nice thing about this Seam Grip is it can be used to repair almost anything! Tarps, tents, canvas, boots, rain gear, backpacks, etc. Some people tell me they use it to coat the bottom of their backpacks to make them more water resistant and protect them from rocks. Some people use the stuff to form a protective toe on boots that don't have one so that the boots last longer. The possibilities are endless.

Great price, someone should be able to enjoy camping quite a bit with this rig.

I have had every scan that my host and antivirus service can do. They always say everything is clean. I too see the URL4short redirects occasionally. It only happens with google search results and as has been mentioned if you hit the back arrow and try it again on that same link, it will go through fine. If you come here directly rather than through google, there is no issue. So my suggestion for now is to just bookmark the forum and come here directly rather than through google. I will continue to see what I can learn about this issue. It's definitely annoying.

It is definitely a horrible tragedy. Prayers for the family of the man who was killed and for that poor little girl who has to live with the aftermath.

Hey All, My husband and I spent a few days down in Southern AZ and I took some pics of things we saw. It is so unbelievably nice out this time of year after this spectacular monsoon we are having! here are some pics for you to enjoy: We found velvetpod mimosa flowering all over the place. It's super beautiful and I had never seen it flower before so I was amazed! The summer rains are doing wonders for this plant! some survey workers were helping this snake across the road when we stopped to take pics and tell them what kind it was. It's a baby kingsnake....not harmful to humans, but they will eat rattlesnakes! very cool flower with long tube, only a specialized critter can pollinate this flower some very blonde coatimundis in some rocks -

Those coatis were really blonde....seems to me I read something once about a the coatis in mexico being really pale colored, so maybe being near the border means most of the coatis are light colored down in the Atascosas/Pajaritos. Anyone else notice this? -
Oh come on! There should be a spoiler alert for those of us that haven't had a chance to watch the video yet. Edit: enjoyed the video. Looking forward to your next one. Thanks for sharing your hunt.. You are right! Sorry!

Are 15X's that much of an advantage
CouesWhitetail replied to joeinaz0's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
For those who have had trouble with swaro 15x being too wide for their eyes, the newest model of them has fixed that problem and now they close enough for everyone's eyes. I used to have that problem with my old 15s, but the new HD version is perfect! -
