Time to bust out the Insanity DVD That's what I am thinking!!
-
Great advice everyone! I have been slowly removing the carbs from our dinners. It's tough because pasta is one of my husband's favorite foods. But he loves veggies too, so it's an easy switch most days. Hard boiled eggs are a staple for us, especially when camping. But even this morning I enjoyed a hardboiled egg and a fresh peach from a friend's tree. That made a surprisingly satisfying bfast. The other hardship for us is that my husband is now into making beer and wine! I used to drink almost no beer and have some wine occassionally, but now the stuff he makes is so good that I have at least some beer or wine most days now. So cutting out alcohol will be pretty impossible for us. I will have to make up for those empty calories by more exercise or cutting out other food.

Thanks for the info!

I used to see these a lot more on deer out east....they are generally not dangerous for the deer, but unsightly and can sometimes cause problems with the deer being able to see and eat normally. They are mostly just a cosmetic problem. It's essentially a huge wart. for more info: http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10370_12150_12220-26637--,00.html

Winners Chosen for Wildlife Conservation Contest
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Hey Everyone, If you remember last year we started our first ever CouesWhitetail.com Wildlife Conservation Challenge as a way to encourage people to do more for wildlife. To enter the contest all you had to do was attend something like a wildlife habitat improvement project, a wildlife conservation group banquet, or join a wildlife conservation group. The more things you did, the more entries you got. And if you wore some CW.com gear while doing it, you got even more entries! We had lots and lots of entries and from those entries I randomly selected 10 winners. Then I sorted those 10 randomlly selected winners based on number of entries they had to determine what place they were and what prize they received. I posted the list of winners on the home page: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/2014/08/winners-from-our-2013-wildlife-conservation-challenge-announced/ This turned out to be a great contest and I want thank all the sponsors that donated great prizes for this contest. A list of prizes and who donated them can be found on the link shown above. (the forum is messing up the table formatting so can't post the table here) Top prize was a scoped Ruger American .270 donated by Healy Arms and CW.com. Thank you Healy Arms. Mark Healy sent me the photo below of Kathi Nixon picking up the gun that her husband won. Who thinks her husband will even get to hold the gun? LOL!! -

Hey All, I know many of you are on Facebook and despite the many things I don't like about FB, we do have a CW.com facebook page. So if you are on FB, please "like" the CouesWhitetail.com facebook page. Thanks to Bonecollector and Bass for helping with this page! Right now we have a CW tshirt giveaway going on FB. To enter the giveaway, you just have to post where your next hunt will be. Here is a link to the post. We already have over 200 people entered in the contest! I am doing the drawing on Aug 17 when I get back from some fieldwork. The tshirt giveway post is down a few posts on the page...look for the photo of the four guys wearing CW tshirts......I can't seem to get the direct link for the post, so here is the CW facebook page link https://www.facebook.com/pages/CouesWhitetailcom/290636191631?ref=hl I am sure we will be doing more tshirt giveaways here in the forum, but if you want to participate on the CW FB page, here is a fun opportunity.

2013-2014 Coues Buck Contest
CouesWhitetail replied to Couestracker's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Is it to late to submit entires for last year? Yes, sort of.....You had to have made a post about your hunt before Feb 2014, but if you had posted your hunt story before the deadline, then you can still get entered. Just PM CouesTracker with the link to your story. -
Congratulations! And nice sticker pic!!

How Fat is Fat? The All American State of Denial and BMI
CouesWhitetail replied to Healy Arms's topic in Hunting Fitness
Thanks for the post Mark and sharing about your experience with coming to the realization that you needed to lose weight and actually making that happen! So many of us come to that same conclusion but then fail to do anything about it. Hopefully our Monday check-in or other events will help motivate some people to reach their goals for being leaner. I don't think the main point of Mark's post is to defend the BMI, but instead to point out that as a nation we seem to have changed what we think is overweight or fat. If you go back and look at photos of people from the 1950s you can see that as a whole they are much skinnier than we are as a nation now. I have even noticed that when I look at old wildlife technical reports where they show photos of biologists collecting data or releasing game. They are almost always thin. Anyway, I think Mark makes a good point that as a nation we have gotten fatter and that there is some level of denial about it. -
I doubt it's an AGFD camera since they mostly buy Covert trail cameras from me. But does it really make any difference who it is? It's not like they are asking people to stay out of the area, but just a request not to vandalize the camera. It's just sad that we have to even think about making such a request.

My Oct whitetail tag came in the mail the other day and I immediately put it in my safe. It used to be that for years I would just toss it on the counter somewhere and the day before the hunt I would frantically search the house for the tag! I got tired of doing that, so then I had a special file holder for it on the counter, and that worked out fine because I always knew where it was. But then my dad gave me a neat old safe that used to be in a general store that some distant relatives owned long ago. Anyway, it's a neat safe that stands a few feet tall and now that is where I store my tags when they come in the mail. I would keep them in my hunting pack, but I use that pack year round for my owl surveys and I am afraid it would fall out somewhere! Where do you keep your tags?
