This is not happening for me. All long posts appear normal to me. You might try the other theme and see if it still happens there. Look at bottom middle of forum for theme dropdown menu and select a different theme. If the same problem happens in the other theme, then it's something with your monitor. If not, then it's something about the theme that doesn't work with your system.

Interesting....for me, the black on brown is way better to read than the light colored text. I guess it depends on your monitor. That's why I provide options....everything looks different depending on your monitor, so choose a theme that looks best for you. I will be adding more theme options, so check the dropdown theme list at bottom middle of forum to find available themes.

Yes, the contrast wasn't very good on the camo one, but the contract is good on the more plain theme labelled "default". Select whichever appeals to you for now. I will be working on getting a better theme. and yes, specific feedback is much more useful than just general complaint about change. but before you all start with complaints, just give things a few days to settle down and give yourself time to explore the new software. Everything is almost exactly in the same places as it was, but the old software version wasn't supported anymore and it wasn't allowing people to register for the forum unless I manually created their accounts, which I have been doing for many months now! It also wasn't getting security upgrades, so we had to upgrade to this new version. I am still learning all the new features.

Give me some time to work things out. It's always a process to get everything the way I want it. I will be adding themes that have different color schemes so you can choose what looks best to you. Right now I have the camo based theme and the bluish theme. If you look at the bottom middle of the forum, you will see the word Theme and if you click on it, it will show you what themes are available. As I had with the old forum, you can select whatever theme you like best. During the course of the next few days, I will be purchasing more themes and adding them. You can then try them out and see which appeals to you. I will also likely make some editing changes to the colors of the text for some of the themes to make them easier, but this all takes time, so just bear with me for awhile.

There is a little mail envelope icon in same area as before. In upper right corner of forum, look just left of your login name for the mail envelope button. Click on it to see list of your messages.

There is a text link in the same area as where the new content button was. Now it's called unread content. So same place it was, just a different name. look in upper right corner of the forum, under search bar.

battery life on these is outstanding. You can leave it on for many days and have it track your location every 10 mins and it will still have lots of battery power. If you leave it on full time even while sleeping at camp, the unit goes into a power saving mode when you are not moving. Great product. have been using it for work for years.

Garmin Inreach is what I use. Great product and the inreach allowed two communication years before SPOT. I started with SPOT but it was unreliable and the InReach has been so much better.

From 1983 to 1999, Quimby was editor and publisher of Safari Club International’s Safari magazine, the annual SCI Record Books of Trophy Animals, and the monthly Safari Times and Safari Times Africa newspapers. From 1967 to 1994, he was the outdoor editor of the Tucson Citizen and a member of its editorial board from 1987 to 1994. He was born in Tucson on September 30, 1936, and attended schools in Yuma before returning to Tucson in 1954 to enroll in the University of Arizona’s College of Business and Public Administration. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, he was employed in the advertising divisions of Levy’s and Jacome’s department stores, and at local advertising and public relations agencies. He founded and published Arizona Outdoor News, a regional newspaper covering Arizona’s hunting and fishing opportunities, for three years in the 1960s. Bill Mattausch, Jr. asked me to post this for him: Tucson, In the 70's and 80's was the pinnacle of what an outdoor section, in a newsprinted paper could achieve... Accomplished Outdoorsmen, and Authors like, Bill Quimby, Tom Foust, and Pete Cowgill, every week on Thursdays and Sundays, all had great stories of hunts, Trail hikes, and game department news, and fishing reports. It was so good you could not wait to buy the paper on those days, and Circkle K's would be sold out, and you needed to check a few stores to get a paper. One of the biggest achievements, I remember (other than the 1969 moon shot,) as a kid at wetmore elementary school was when our Cousin Jim Stough, got back from veit nam in 1972 and shot a 116" typical Couse buck on the backside of the catalinas ...Bill Quimby and Tom Foust, had storys and a picture of the monster buck. they used too do that in newspapers, kids, really. Jimmy Englemans taxidermy shop would be used a few more times for our familys pictures, and storys of hunts , to be shared for articles by Bill Quimby that respected and honored the tradition. He Safari hunted Africa several times , and was a leading authority on the Continent, and was a world famous writer for the Safari Club Internaional...and a very good and loyal friend, to my father, Bill Mattausch Sr. and Az hunt Hall of Famers , Jimmy Engleman , John Doyle , and the Levy Brothers, Jim and Seymore... Truly, Greer, and Tucson, has lost another Star Treasure...May strength be to his wife, of Care and Grace, "Jean" ... " And Tom Mix wept"...

Another option one of my field techs had on a backpack trip with us was a Steripen and it was pretty darn cool! You have to have some fairly dirt free water though since it's not really a filter but a blast of UV light that kills any microrganisms in it. https://www.steripen.com/ultra/

PUR hiker (with Katadyn filter for replacements) is what I use. Works great! Had it for maybe 20 years. However, we did have one backpack trip a couple years ago where my filter and the other guys filters all clogged up and we couldn't pump water and had to leave earlier than planned. That could have been avoided had a I replaced the filter prior to that trip. I think it was near full of crap from past trips and the thick water source we had put it over the edge. I recently did another backpack trip and it worked flawlessly with the new filter.

Thank you Desert Muley for passing along our thoughts and prayers to the family and letting us know that he passed peacefully this morning. Godspeed Bill. You will be missed. Such a loss to our hunting community. Thank you, sir, for all your many contributions over so many decades. He was a true sportsman and such a great advocate for hunting.
