hahaha, I had a similar experience during elk season. I parked the vehicle in the predawn darkness at a spot I had never been to, but wanted to hunt that day. I got out of the vehicle and there were elk screaming and fighting right near me! I turned my GPS on and set it on the ground next to my vehicle so it could be searching for satellites while I was very quietly gathering my gear. I took off in the dark to follow the bugles and it wasn't until later in the morning when I took a break that I stopped to check where I was on the GPS....but I couldn't find my GPS...I had left it at the vehicle. A bit of panic flowed over me when I realized I didn't have my GPS. This was a place I had NEVER hiked in or even driven around! So I was completely unfamiliar with the area. Luckily I always carry a map and compass with me, so I took a couple bearings to some hilltops I could see and figured out where I should be on the map and roughly how I should get back. The difficult part was that my map didn't show all the dirt roads and I crossed a couple on the way back to my vehicle. It was hard just putting all my faith in the compass and not just getting on one of those roads and walking them. I didn't cross any roads in the dark on the way in, but somehow the route I took back took me over some that weren't on my map. Anyway, I have used the compass enough to trust it, so I just kept going and found the vehicle .

I love my Instant Pot! I haven't used it much for game yet though. I made some amazing ribs in it last night (but they were pork). I would think it would be great for any roast or stew or for things like rabbit or squirrel or even quail.

You basically upload the video to a video site, such as Youtube, Vimeo or perhaps photobucket. Then copy and paste the link to that video into your post here. Vimero seems to be working the best with the current version of forum software. Sometimes Youtube links post as just a link rather than a video player showing the video in your post. I haven't used photobucket, but sounds like IA born can help with that.

I have a couple contracts for owl surveys this summer, one is in the Catalinas and one for the Santa Rita Mountains. I am wondering if anyone has a cabin in either area that we could rent for a couple days at a time. We usually have our dogs with us, so hopefully you would be OK with that. thanks!

Yes, I do know about those USFS cabins, but thank you. I use the one on mt Lemmon fairly often. But those cabins are frequently booked up, so looking for more options. Our work schedule depends heavily on weather and so we tend to change our schedule often depending on where the wind is blowing.

Maybe part of a geocache....check geocaching.com to see if there is a cache there. It might be a "multi" cache that has different stages to finding it.

Awhile back Shelvin gave me the meat from his javelina. I made a bunch of chorizo from it and then wanted to cook up the backstrap. I wasn't sure how I wanted to do it this time, so I used google to search for recipes and found one from the CWT forum that Coach posted about six years ago. That was the ticket! Thanks Coach.... This was awesome! I used chickpea flour and some cajun seasoning and it turned out so good that it barely made it onto plates before we ate it!
