    Archery Shoots

My Bad! That is the fee to enter Usery Park. They changed it from $5.00 a shooter to $6.00 a car this year so they asked us to put it on our schedules and flyers. That does not include the shoot fees I will add that to the post. Thanks

    Got a ????

Ok Help me with a discussion we had today.Lets say a creek is the boundary of a hunt unit. The creek bed is 300 yards (Just throwing out a number) from one side to the other. The animal you are hunting is in the creek bed what unit is he in??For example 22 and 23 at Tonto Creek. Is the creek bed edges the line and the creek bed it's self not in a particular unit? Or is the water it self the line? And if it's the water what if it is dry?

    24A Javelina (Collared Peccary)

Been shooting my vanes like that before Blazer even came along. If I remember correctly the guy who owns CarbonTec arrows told us about staggering our vanes on our target arrows that some of the Olympic shooters were doing it. Said you could shoot shorter lighter vanes and that they will control like longer vanes at longer distances. So Robert the owner of Broken Arrow Archery and a few other guys started playing. Not sure why or how but it seems to work for us. I stagger all of them now. Plus it makes everyone ask WHY!!!

    Dads new project

Not sure if this was a super light but it was the youth rifle. All that has ever been shot from it was my own reloads never had any groups like you are talking about. My dad is going to use it for varmint hunting. Got him some 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and some 62gr. Barnes Varmint Grenades we will have to see how they shoot. Let you know once he gets a load worked out.
  10. This is my dads new toy. Actually this was my sons rifle that my dad traded him for his Ruger M77 270. My son will be doing more hunt in the future so my dad upgraded him for an even swap. Not sure my son thinks it is so even now!!LOL!! The first is a before picture then the rest are the work in progress. I will post more pictures as he completes it.The rifle is a 243 win H&R single shot I think it will be a sweet rifle when it is complete. The wood is Fiddle Back Maple I can't wait to see it with a finish on it.

Couple new pics. These pics do not do much for the wood My dads camera is very old. I will see if I can get some from out at the range. Now the fun starts finding the best load for it! Can not wait to see how it shoots.
  12. Doug Great story sounds like it was a great hunt and a lot of fun. Some awesome pictures I love to hunt that unit but it sounds like it was a tuff one this year.

    Opening Morning Triple!!!

Great Job! We got into them yesterday got my son into about 40- 50 yards then the wind changed and it was all over. Tryed to call them back with the J13 but I think they ran faster. That was the first time we were not able to call them back since we started using them! Got it on tape that was cool.

    Better than the Penguin Game

Ya I bet you used the rangefinder to!!!! I bought this a few years ago. Once you put the same setup you shoot with into the game your pin gap is about the same and everything. It's awesome and a lot of fun! I can't remember what my high score was but I got really good at it. I actually think it can help some on the 3d range. And you need all the help you can get!

  20. Did any of you guy hear about or get in on the over the counter elk tags. Had some friends get some this week at G&F. From what I have heard that the hunts are from Jan to March. Aug.to Sep. and then Dec. of "08". They said they are for any elk in units 4a 4b 6a and some others not to sure. Just wondered if there was some kind of catch to it??Or is this just a way to make up for all the unsold Hog tags!!!LOL! Just wanted to see if anyone had some more info.

    Dads new project

I will get some websites from him they make barrels in almost any major caliber out there. Not sure on the custom scope mounts the rail is for Weaver mounts. He may need to find some custom mounts because the hammer extender he got for Christmas hits the bottom of the scope and its not to safe letting the hammer down without it with the scope on. He bought the stock off the web. As far a the triggers I know they can be work by a gunsmith and some come with adjustable triggers. Not sure if they have aftermarket triggers or not. From what he has found on the web these are very inexpensive to work on and build and they shoot very well!!!

Casey Everything looks good with a blond in tiger stripes!!!! I thinks he is going to go with the natual look but he is not sure if he wants it a semi gloss or glossy finish. I was going to tell him he need to find some peices of the same wood and try a bunch of finishes to find the best one.
  23. Look what Santa AKA Mom and Dad got me for Christmas a day early!!

    Over the counter elk tags

Man I looked all over for it must have past it up! 4A and 4B are my old stomping grounds there are some good elk hunting there come Aug and Sep. not sure what parts are open then that's kinda the info I was looking for.
  25. Well one year in 34a I had to get one more glassing session from the top of my closed tent trailer. As I was getting down i set my binos on the propane tank then drove away!! As I'm driving out I here a horn honk and my wifes uncle pointing at the trailer. I stop and get out and my binos are hanging from the tank by the Bino Buddy's!! And yes dragging on the ground for about 5 miles!!!! They were not $1000+ binos but it still sucked! I'm sure I will think of a better one but I try to forget stuff like this.
