Dickmans is not doing wild game anymore per John. John said he turned away 30 elk in the last week. He's the best I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them. I did my meat on my own for 15 years. John is worth it and then some re: time, quality, packaging, etc....

There are just better killing options without much of a recoil penalty in 6 or 6.5 that also give you more leeway in suboptimal hits due to wind, etc. along with increased wound channels, less wind drift, etc. I'm a huge fast .224" fan and I've shot a bunch of stuff with them but if we are maximizing our tools to optimize killing, there are just some better options IMO...

My first coues was with an 8" .22-250 Ackley and an 80 Berger at 3300. Bang flop at 500 yards or so.... Love the big 22's but that ship has sailed for me for a serious deer hunting rifle.

# fixed. Fat fingers...

He does but those have already happened or booked up....I think. Give him a ring..

From Tucson it's about 11-12 hours driving right down IH 10 in Mason, Texas.... These hunts are usually in December.... Generally 2-3 days, lodging provided onsite. Not sure on much else. Call him up fellas. He's a good guy...

Yeah..... I love chasing coues but it's really fun to sit and watch so much game so close.... Stress free hunting which is a nice at times...

If you're seriously glassing with a spotter, you're already behind the curve.... Only on rare occasions, 3+ miles away, should you spend any time on a spotter. If you are, change your glassing points or hunting tactics...

Being stupid should hurt or cost money, big time.... Looking at the video and where the explosion was with dry, wind, heat, etc. he deserved all he got and then some..... Idiot....

Barrett Fieldcraft no doubt for me.... Better throated and much better chance of an accurate rifle, bit no .280 Ackley.... -

2018 AZ Coues Deer rifle hunt - Teaser alert

I'm trying to enjoy it brother but reading a 10k novel about a few does and a spike is hard to get through. I appreciate the post but holy moly, it's like watching CNN covering Trump. Congrats on the OP's first coues... -
2018 AZ Coues Deer rifle hunt - Teaser alert

No. It might be your misstatement on your suppressor but also I'm just guessing he's just wondering, as am I, why you are being overly dramatic with your hunt story. We all love seeing hunt successes but the look at me drama is a bit over the top. I know you are trying to be creative and whatever, but some of us get around a bit. Not trying to be negative, just saying. I could fill up an entire forum on this deal with stories like yours.... -
During the rut, big bucks will be where the does live, obviously. Prerut, most of the big bucks (i.e. the old bucks 6+ years of age), will be in the flats in the desert. This time of the year, their favorite food is barrel cactus fruits, followed by chain fruit Cholla...

It varies buck to buck and obviously with resources but I've seen mature bucks have a home range of less than a square mile and some I'd say were over 5...

FFP VS 2ND FP, POI change
Big or Bust replied to CatfishKev's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Brother, I'm not triggered. Trust me....grin.... If his post was facetious, it's got to be more obvious. There are tons of people who are a little slow all over the internet and who are more unfortunately allowed to vote. Hopefully his post was a big fat joke. -

Do you think FFP is an acronym for Favorite First Projectile? -
FFP VS 2ND FP, POI change

Too much too type - Kev- do some reading on FFP vs. SFP then your question can be clarified. It doesn't make sense. The only POI you may be referencing is the reticle on a FFP scope gets a bit thicker on higher power relative to SFP, and you are asking if this shifts POA? The answer is no.... I prefer FFP for it all so I can use my reticle for ranging, plus I never dial for windage, I hold for it which is something that cannot be done accurately with a SFP.... -
What twist is the barrel? I assume the bolt stop and magazine is factory allowing about a 2.81" max OAL? Is that a threaded barrel or a brake?

Hang in there pard..... Best wishes...

I can get 2k as well with my Sig 2k on nice reflective objects. With mist, clouds, shiny grass, windy trees etc. at times getting half that is a chore in field conditions...

Divide the yardage in half of what the model is for an estimate on ranging capabilities, IME, for any rangefinder..

I have a year and a half old set of Swarovski HD bins, 15x56. I just received them back from Swaro for a cleaning and going through. They are literally pristine at this time. Includes all items in picture that came with them. $1,950. Prefer face to face. I am in the Tucson area but can ship after receipt of funds. First firm I'll take them gets them. Thanks - Greg
