Big or Bust

Really hard to find a bad barrel these days.... I like Brux, Pac-Nor, and Lilja for their options, quality, turn around time, and custom work....

Ron, it's a Chad Dixon built Long Rifles rig. 700, Brux #3 I believe at 22" and 9", KS Edge.... H4831sc, Nosler brass, 168VLD at 2,820 or so...

Stabilization of a bullet is a barrel twist issue...

I don't own a barrel with a barrel longer than 22" and don't plan to... With today's choice of bullets and turret/scope options, handiness is much more appealing to me as well as the lack of recoil (freaking hate brakes)...

There's not... Only real thing it does is it saves you scope adjustment for longer stuff.... The only advantage really is longer MPBR, which is the opposite of running turrets...

I've never broken in a barrel in my life and never will... Just shoot it... Overrated...

Pretty much this.... Do not be afraid to punch shoulders with Berger's.... Not a Barnes fan. Too much stuff I've experienced has been bad. If going bonded I'd go Accubond or Partition, or a heavy for caliber Sierra GK or Hornady IL are also great choices. I've switch back and forth over the years and have settled on medium weight for caliber Berger's for deer stuff and medium to heavy for caliber stuff on elk.... I'll be in gunning 168 Vld's from a .280 Ackley at an elk in a few weeks with zero worries.... Hard to go wrong in today's bullet market. Your shot location is MUCH more important anyway.... We get too caught up in bullet selection when what really counts is practice from true field positions. ..

To be honest, I don't think he's that old.... Not a white enough face in the right areas, snout too long, not enough spine curvature, etc. I think he's 2-3.... But pictures are tough...

I've got one but in Tucson....no time to travel that far in next few weeks.

He's around 180". And no where near as big and bad as desert bucks come,but a solid deer nonetheless....

Vortex is junk.... Even a crown I wouldn't expect that bad of groups at 100.... Scope, mounts in that order....

6-12 inches at 100 screams scope or mounting issue...
