My problem is I miss 8 years ago with little pressure, no AZGFD paid influencers and youtubers, no quota, and very few out of state plates....grin...

Never met or spoken to the guy. You ok? We are talking quotas, archery, and OTC this entire discussion. His rifle hunt comments was about rifle hunts in units with OTC archery but you may not have known the difference...

Unfortunately I think this is the only option....

We are talking OTC units for like 6 pages, quotas, etc. Your comments about your Kaibab bucks, draw tag, no quotas, are irrelevant. No one changed the rules lol....

What's the point you are trying to make then? Antler width or points will extend your hunting season? The long term data suggests spikes or forks won't be shot, it's just the 2 and 3 year old 3 pts and 100" 4 pts or whatever the "law" states. Lots of studies out there. Is that what people are wanting to extend their season by a week maybe to still shoot dinks? I'd rather a draw, folks can shoot what they want, less people in the field and age class will still increase with less hunting pressure and tags so I can outhunt people moreso than now with less hunters in field...

Isn't every regulation based on what about'isms? How's antler restriction gonna solve that?

It's the self regulation of any type. It's never worked for anything. A draw is the best solution IME especially seeing how many bucks were actually getting killed, which I suspect was 3 to 4x the quoto for some units annually... Gnite. Ill be up at 4 AM trying to beat the quota...grin... ..

Rut has been very bad, not shocking based on doe condition. Very predicated bad.....

Seeing how fast some of the units are closing it is amazing and alarming how many bucks are being saved and how much the AZGFD had no clue about. The result will be harder deer tags to draw but better quality.... ...

I agree brother but antler restrictions IMO would be disastrous. People will still shoot dinks, bury them after going oops and keep hunting. Very few instances of antler restrictions have solved a problem. Ever. Unfortunately....

I personally love the harvest reporting. We get actual data finally... The deer were being annihilated prior to it....

I wish they'd stagger archery going to a draw which may even start this year. Nonresidents first then residents as needed to get a few more years out of it but that may to complicated for AZGFD. Also will be curious if they turn the archery seasons into a bunch of 14 day hunts which they could make 4 to 5 of them. Will also be curious when this happens how they deal with the draw cycle and the 1 deer per calendar year. They'll likely just copy NM if they are technically able to, which is a legitimate concern...grin....

It's been hit or miss down south. Some big guys, some small bucks with does, some does and no bucks. Typical trickle rut with poor doe health and inconsistent cycling due to drought. This may be as good as it gets down south I'm afraid....

heck, I think the best coues deer rutting I always see in the 36s is between Feb 1-15. And it's getting later and later. Fawn with spots in winter, shed antlers in May. heck, elk best rut in October now it seems. It's a changing game for sure.... This year I bet the secondary cycle will be best with the drought... heck I've seen crazy rut crap in early March...

Smoker buck... That right antler is about as unique as it gets for a coues....
