If not concerned with BC since most bullets mentioned are vld type bullets, I'd run a hunting bullet then for 2 holes. I want exits these days. Accubond, ttsx, etc.

Killing yourself with .257" bullets and bcs. Step up to 6.5 or 7 or drop down to 6 and gain some impact velocity.

Switch to a 50 or 55 vmax in your .223 or go to 40 btips. Btip performance will likely give you more runners unless you srsy with 40's. They work fantastic fast but in a .223, I want vmaxs.

You can easily get 2950 with 140's in a 26" tube - Lots of powders will get you there -

One of my favorites - Shooting 75's at 2,900+ burning 26 grains of powder is awesome..grin.... Or, shooting 105 VLD's at 2,500+ with 24 grains of powder is fun too -

I'd do a 7-08 Ackley Improved, 1-8" twist, #3 Rock tube, finished at 23" throated for 162 Amax. Stick it in a McMillan Edge Classic, top it with a VX3 4.5-14 with some M1's and start slaying - This rig will be about 8 pounds all up -

Is this a hunting rifle for deer hunts? Have you anticipated the all up weight of this rig?

Chris made an excellent shot on this deer - It was a bit nerve racking waiting for the "thaaawaaappp" of impact to make its way back to us on the hill with the humidity. We actually had time to process that we didn't hear it and there it was. It was pretty cool.
