I'm not gonna get into the "hater mode" like some have done lately, besides that i dont really have a problem with feeders for pics. If you want a different answer call again and talk to some one else, if you want another answer try a third time.

I grew up with 22's bb guns pellet rifles and some 22 pistols. Just before I turned 10, I got a taste of 20ga's and 243s. I never had a 22 centerfire growin up. Any ways I liked the 243 better than the win 94 30-30 we had. Mostly becouse of the lever safety on the 94. (you have to squeeze it to be a ble to fire and my hands werent that big). 100gr core lokts is what i was shootin I believe. I shot a 25-06 w/ a recoil pad once and the recoil was worse for me then with that than the plastic butt of the 243. Long story short, 243s work and they didnt hurt me too bad even though I was small.

Get out and practice. My buddy had one and thats what he had to do. I made him a drop chart that was never used. It was a target that looked like a tds Reticle. this was to show him through the scope where the bullet should hit. I got the balistic info off the ned for the bullet drop. The target was designed to see how close the 300, 400 & 500 yard drops were. I havent thought about again it till today, i still wanna see how it worked. The idea was to set the target up @ say 400 yards and put the main crosshair on the top of the target (zero hold over). In theory if my balistics and the scope were right the 400 yard line i put on the target should match up with the 400 yd dot in the scope. Ill have to see if he still has the target and put it to the test.

+1, Bill had some insight on this subject. I believe he said this was more common over seas. I would love to see some displacement measurements on current records just to see how they would stack up against eachother.

pretty cool. that bull with the 5ths that are longer than the 4ths shows up alot. :47 2:03 and 2:10 so far and alot of fight scenes. there are some nice bulls

Looks like a Great bull in this Pic!! Now the bad news Its a shame his 4th and 5th turned out like this woulda been one heck of a bull. Any idea what would have caused this? This is the first pics I have of this buck, he showed up noon opening day of archery season while I was in another stand.

I just thought it was a bit strange that the mains turned out fine. I figured if it happened while he was growing the main would be funky too.

700RC2s are great inexpensive heads. I own two of them. There are lighter ones but youll pay for em. If you wanna lighten it up a few oz's you can cut the handles down. I would really like to have the oputdoorsmans pan head, but its not quite in the cards right now (or wallet either). I dont know any suggestions for legs in your price range. Im guessing if your looking for light weight your not looking for something tall enough to stand up and use. Might get a deal here in the classifieds. One guy was selling a set of 301bn i believe. Great legs, Ive had a pair for probably 5+ years. They are heavy but sturdy and tough. Tall enough to stand if you move the legs in a bit for me at 5'10"

HOW TO PRESERVE VELVET?
youngbuck replied to mattobertin's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
There was some talk recently about it. You can inject formaldahyde (sp) I believe. You can also freeze dry it, not sure how long that takes. You can also strip it and have artificial velvet applied. I wanted a velvet Euro. I decided to try and freeze dry it, then do the euro job my self and see if it held up. If it didnt, I would do the artificial stuff. Unfortunately none of my shooters have shown up so I dont have the mounting problem yo deal with yet -
definately! If you can afford them that would be great, I only have one nice camera and abunch of 50-100$ ones Depends on what is there. one of my spots has cattle in it and I got 1731 pictures in 10 days. Most of the time I try and go every 2 weeks to once a month if I want to see the pictures. I have left some w/ out solar rigs for a few months that I coulnd't get to.

Ive use a montec by g5. They shoot fine for me. They dont have any moving parts, infact no parts at all, just one piece, so that means nothing to go wrong. The bull I shot last year (my person photo on my member info page) was quartering away hard when I shot. The arrow entered behind the last rib on his right side and barely broke the skin infront of his left shoulder. Thats alot of penetration for 63 yards.

How do you pass the time in the blind?
youngbuck replied to capt88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The only time I have ever read a book since Hatchet in the 6th grade and enjoyed it is while I am hunting in a blind. My sister and parents are all bork worms. They usually read at least 1 novel a week and it is not out of the ordinary for one of them to read two or three. The last book I read was Time to Hunt by Stephen Hunter. These Bob Lee Swagger stories is what the movie Shooter was based on. I really enjoyed it -
I have the 714cf and have used the 614cf. The 7 is definately sturdier under 15's but the 6 work it is alot smaller folded up. I'm about 5' 10" and if I was a few inches taller id have to get a set of legs taller than this to use while standing up

Anyone use a barrel donut/deresonator?
youngbuck replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thats the best explination Ive heard yet but I still wanna know why. Anyone see the pic of the guy on the sims sight shooting the 1000yd unlimited with a whole barrel full of em? Any ways after all the early elk hunt this year, Im gonna put some Retumbo to use and slap on a deresonator. -
Anyone use a barrel donut/deresonator?
youngbuck replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I always kinda thought these were a gimick. How much "deresonating" can a hunk of rubber or navcon do from the time of primer strike untill the bullet leaves the barrel. And how much is that barrel gonna actually move or wiggle. From what I understand this is supposed to take vibration out of the barrel as the bullet is traveling out of it. The transfer of energy to from the barrel to the rubber would need to be EXTREMELY fast. In fact faster than my 3300 fps muzzle velocity. I'm not trying to tell you guys they dont work because they seem to. I would love some one to explain barrel harmonics to me in a nutshell. Maybe I should buy a book and read up on it. For how much they cost you cant really lose. Ill have to get one to play with when i work up a new load and see if it helps. -
