AJI in mesa has done it for me before. They are on Apache Trail and Meridian

I use a ripcord, and like it. I know quite a few people who use this also and they all like it. It has a bar ontop of the rest that keeps your arrow from falling off; one of the reasons I use it.

I saw your post on longrangehunting.com. There is an article about optics on there somewhere about that specific scope. It said the that scope was very good for the money. I don't know if you saw it, but it was a pretty good write up.

Whats the dumbest thing you've done?
youngbuck replied to TATAat27's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I was mule deer hunting with my dad, uncle, and family friend when I was about 15. I was using a 25-06 and my dad was using a .243. We jumped a really nice 4 point on our way to glassing spot. He was probably 160". I jacked a shell in. It was really hard to cycle the action though. I thought I was just panicing and fevering really bad. He stopped at 150 yards or so and I shot. It hit probablt 15 ft low and behind him. I jacked another one in and it hit about 10 feet infront of him. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I was pretty dissapointed in myself untill, i picked the brass. To my disbelief, both said 243 on the casings. I shot 243 shells out of a 25-06, not once, but twice. My dissapoitment quickly faded. I was just glad that I didn't hurt myself or any of the people I was hunting with. I must have gotten the shells mixed up that morning when we left camp. I have never gotten ammo mixed up since then. I learned my lesson. -

Got the new bow! Now for sights and rest!
youngbuck replied to ajohunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
i shoot a 7 deadly pins with a ripcord rest. I think a few companies make rests like that now, just another one to look at -
I found these 2 last weekend about 200 yards apart. They might be a set but i doubt it. The left side is pretty chewed and has alot shorter main. It may have been longer, it was too chewed up to tell. I like the blade on it though this is the right side. It was hardly chewed on at all, a little sunbleached, but my biggest find so far.

I have the cabelas rain suede, and i really like it. It packs really small so it fits in the pack easy, its also super quiet. I wanted something lightweight and not too hot so i could use it as a outer layer when its cold or over a t-shirt when its a little warmer. I couldn't be happer with it. I think the jacket was around 100 bucks and the pants we around 80. My sister used it on a 2 week mountianeering (sp) course with outward bound at 14,000+ ft in Colorado in rain and snow. She loved it. It kept her dry and warm. She also said it rained every day but one so it saw alot of good use.

12v trail cam betteries
youngbuck replied to youngbuck's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Thanks for all the info guys. I thought about a solar setup, but didnt know thew were that inexpensive -
I was wondering if anybody has had any luck with 12v batteries for tail cams. I was thinking about using a 12v atv bettery and the cord for a trail cam. I havent ever seen a 12v kit in person, and i thought it would be lighter than the kits they sell specifically for trail cams. I want a 12v setup for cameras that are a ways back in, to last a while. I dont think the cameras matter, but i am using wildviews. Does anybody know how many pics i can expect to get out of a 12v rig. I know the flash burns up alot. I had a few spikes wallowing around in my salt all night and the camera took about 100 flash pics. I just had 4 C's in it, it didnt kill the batteries, but the low battery light was on. I was looking for something that could last through a few nights like this in about a 2 month period.

Looking at getting a hand gun
youngbuck replied to IHunt2live's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
Another vote for the XD's. I bought a 45 compact back in march and i couldn't be happier. As far as revolvers go, id also say a 357 is you best bet if you want a larger caliber. 38's are cheap enough to shoot (not near as inexpensive as a 22lr) and a 357 mag packs a heck of a punch. My dad is a pretty bug 357 fan, he has a few. As far as used revolvers to look for besides the above mentioned; ruger security six, ruger gp100. Either of those you should be able to pick up at a reasonable price. -

How do I do a European mount
youngbuck replied to mulie hunter's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
is gonna take along time no matter how you do it. The best luck ive had is with a power washer though. Make sure you dont spray the antlers, it seems to work alot better than boiling. If you do boil it helps if you use sodium caronate (soda ash) to get the grease out. sold as laundry booster or ph+ for pools. THen it takes alot of work with a dental pick and other tools to clean it up. To get it white i use hydrogen peroxide. Not the grocery store stuff, the stuff from hair shops sold as devoleper, 40 volume. i usually brush multiple coats on untill i get it how i like it. Done get impatient do as much as you can with out boiling, that kinda of turns the stuff you dont get into real tough jerky, and it can be a pain to clean up. Dont let the soda ash in the water touch the antlers either, it will bleach them. good luck and let us know how it turns out. if you have any questions about it pm me. im actually workin on two right now, it took me a while to find a way i liked -
I'm sure you guys have already about this, but i found it pretty interesting http://outdoorlife.blogs.com/newshound/200...ts-dollars.html

Well I was lucky enough to fill my tag again this year with a buck I'm proud of . I was hunting with my dad, uncle, aunt and grandpa. We all had a blast. On Friday My uncle glassed a deer about 1000 yards away laying in the shade. We got the spotting scope on him and could tell he was big enough for a closer look. We were looking right into the setting sun. I closed the gap to 400 yards and started building my rest. I got nestled in a pile of rocks and pack, and set up the rifle. About that time a second deer stood up and gave me a good look. I could tell he was too big for me to pass up. I was looking straight into the sun, enough so that my 4 inch sunshade didn't help a bit. I held my flip up scope cover down, parallel with the barrel to get a good sight picture. I squeezed the trigger. The deer dropped in its tracks. This is the third deer shot with accubonds and i am throughly impressed. It hit just behind the shoulder. The exit was about 3/4 inch. It didn't ruin any more meat than deer I've shot with a .243. I only snapped a few pics. I was by myself, and it was getting dark. The next morning my cousin spotted the two deer that were with mine a few hundred yards from where they were when i shot. My dad and I took off to get closer. We lost the deer in a brushy cut. We moved to a better location to glass from to find them. We glassed from when we lost them at 9 until 430 in the afternoon. The whities won that day. They gave us the slip, we never saw them again . Here are the few pics i took before packing him out. He was a very big bodied coues, with a great looking cape. I couldn't be happier

No it was a different unit. I wanted something a little closer to home. I also wanted a break from hunting way down south. Thanks for the kind words guys.

I saw the video on the net of babalu and heath's fight. I wanna know from some one that saw it first hand, how bad the choke was after the tap. I read that they released babalu from the ufc for it.
