Who's getting ready for otc archery!!
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to goinhuntn's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
OK roll call time, I'm headed up the hill Sunday with 5 days to kill. Going to chase some muley and bear hopefully. Good luck to all. I'm going in on foot this trip 4 miles or so. New country so that's always exciting. Peace and be safe -
Ya look up the build and truss size and see what the spread is and you can calc pounds per square inch. Placing it on a sheet of 3/4 ply will spread the weight a lot and you should be fine. My ex slept upstairs and she never fell through. The hard part is getting it up there

She was big before, its jilean Michaels. She lost some weight.

Just have my ex girlfriend over and test the floor. I can give you her number

I was listening to a podcast about a bull hunt and the guide spent like 8 days looking for this bull they knew of before the season and then when he was located he camped on the bull for 2 more days until the customer showed up to take a shot. I was glued to my seat until the story of this bull hit that point then I was turned off. Like I said I would love to help on a hunt like that and even haul a guy up a hill to get a shot but I just don't see me on the other side of it. I am new to this so maybe things will change later down the road.

Just getting into muzzleloader any suggestions
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I made it out this morning for my first ever muzzy shots. I can say that loading was a pain, I'm going to have to look into different ways guys do this. It was awkward and the 20 mile wind wasn't helping any. So I loaded 100 grn bh209 on 200 grn bullet with sabot and let her rip. Had 2 holes touching at 80 yards in bad wind. That's it for now. I used magnum 209 primers and I did some mods on my breach plug. It was really cool to shoot no doubt. -
Hunt sabbatical, haha sounds great. I would love to be a guide on a hunt like that auction tag for sure i would hunt it dufferent but guiding is different in a hunt like some are where the guid is more the hunter than the tag holder. and the funds generated are much needed and appreciated I would just like to see the storyline of the hunter working hard all year and maybe not even tagging out and then saying he would buy that tag again next year. Lol guess I just love a good story

I can say the opposite no doubt about it. I would hire some freinds to help me out in my spot of choice and have good food, good talk, good hunting, good drink, and good memories for as many days as I could. Animal down or not if I would not measure success in the animal taken but everything else. That's just me.

OK I picked up 50 cal tools and they are different thread size from any cleaning rods I have? What gives? I didn't see special rods with the brushes and jags?

muzzy brush threads
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Of course no one carries an adapter so they can sell you a new cleaning rod. I made my own and also an extended one so I could clean in the field with the ramrod and make it through the barrel. -
muzzy brush threads
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thought I was going crazy, 6 ramrods from gunslick, 3 wally specials with adapters, 2 shotgun kits, a machinist toolbox full of crap, and I couldn't get the brush, jag, or mop connected. Lol got it to work at the shop today so now just need to get the sabot cleaning stuff. All that's left is blue sabot hairs in the barrel. -
Curious what was the issue? I just got into vortex.

Yeti, Grizzly, and Canyon Coolers What is the Difference???
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Cabelas is in the game now and bringing the price point down. Hunting gear is like wine in a restaurant 300% mark up. Its only worth what your willing to pay. -
Still trying to locate Bulls for my first Elk Hunt in 6A:(
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to TwoOneEight Photography's topic in Elk Hunting
More elk in 6a than any other unit. Keep looking -
Hey will I have a question, were you sure it was a boar ? And talk about deciding yes or no on the shoot if you were. Or was it just a good lone bear without thought of boar or sow? I've studied this and hope I can distinguish in the field but I know with these black bears it's tuff.

question about auto repairs versus buying a new car
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
Work is never cheap I agree but why are greese monkeys getting 140 hr. My mechanic is at 65. An hour and gives option a b c with his quote. -
That's a good price
