Augest archery\building your own tanks.
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to muledeerhntr's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I disagree, in my heart, mind, and spirit I am a hunter gatherer. The kill is the smallest quickest part. The plan, the work, the hard times, the respect of the land and the animals, the passion, the care of the kill, the primal state of mind that comes after time in the woods, the dinners with family and friends eating the animal, sorry I irritated with my vision of the world. Just my 2 cents on a subject. -
It took me 3 days to build the nerve to click on this thread, actually I was disappointed. Lol

Let's see yes I have used dirt tanks, hard to argue other than if every Joe blow with a 55 gallon drum went out and set up a tank that would be awesome. There happens to be a nice national trail for hiking, biking, horses, that runs down i17 from Prescott to about 74 by lake pleasant (black canyon trail) and it runs through table mesa road area, I made the mistake in 2014 of riding this trail and crossing table mesa for the first time and wow, anyone who has been in on the west side knows its bad. As far as g and f tanks there are very few of these inside designated wilderness in az and the ones that Are there I have seen zero people sitting on them. I'll say I would actually like to see more of these or dirt tanks in wilderness areas like mazatzal. Water sucks in there and hunting does too. It could be a mecca like Bob marshal in Montana where its managed very well for animals and humans. The point is the more people do leave stuff in the woods or wilderness and the more people argue they are right to do it the faster everything looks like table mesa. Just my opinions, and my mules opinions as well. -

They always turn out this way because no one should be putting crap like man made plastic tanks anywhere on public land. Put it in your back yard or buy some land and do it. Better yet if guys want to hunt like that move back east and sit in a tree all day. I guess we should just put more roads in everywhere so the whole state can look like table mesa!!! -

Take a look at leave no trace! This is all you need to know. Pack it in and pack it out, if there is something that shows signs you were there then no dont do it. If something is existing already like a fire pit then yes use it but dont build a new one in some spot you like better. Leave no trace Leave no trace -
I see everett bowmen arena in there. I know that place anywhere. I love it when those broncs get all four off the ground like a bull. I was just at the gold rush days with the family yesterday. All the bull riders bucked off, maybe its time to get the ole rope and vest back out! Lol

The last time I saw one of these was jet ski rental guy backed into lake and skis floated off the trailer but the truck kept going without him, when the divers went out to hook up the strap they popped up above the truck like 100 yards off shore and had running out of strap. Lol I couldn't believe how far the truck went from shore. Lol

Please don't wreck wilderness areas for the rest of us. Leave your crap at home not on our puplic land! -
When I used to fish a lot I saw this 4 times, 1 time was great the dam boat was still on the trailer lol. One really crazy one was on the northeast ramp and a camero drove straight into the water thinking it was a road. I was fishing close by at night and saw the whole thing. I can tell you 2 trucks couldn't pull that car out, they had to bring a big dozer in due to the car being full of water and also the drag and grade they were on. I caught 3 fish while watching this go down.

Hey I like late cow!

The worst part oF this hunt is the meat is not great, especially compared to august bear. Or Oct even better. Let em fatten up first.
-
I have played with this hunt a few times and may go this year again but sightings are far and few between. We usually go calling and scouting for other hunts on this one.
-
Not to take anything away from op post but well said browns. I also say kudos to Kayla, she single handedly will bring down heck on those who held her. I hope some paint strokes are putting her name on a little token from an f22 right now. Maybe up yours, love kayla

-
All in. 7 bodies and 3 apps completed. Unit 8, 7, 5, 1, 22. I have a good feeling this year. May need to quit working from sept til 2016.
-
I'm going to drive down there monday morning and get me a big cup of frustration.
-
I didn't really mess the app up but I wanted to add another person, no big deal. The only thing I really need is to get the license number corrected since I put in a number that is expired and the new license was purchased at a retail and not online so I would assume g and f will have no idea of the new number
-
I am going to call them Monday and see but I am guessing the same thing. You would think up until the deadline you could make changes or delete an app. Stone age business.

Coues Backcountry Archery Hunt with Horses

I can't decide if I am glad I missed this trip or if I wish I was wet and cold with you guys. Lol good write up. -
I picked up a 30 degree slumberjack at sportsman's that I have used down to 14 degrees 49.99 and it weighs under 3. I have a high dollar 3 lb 0 degree but its never cold enough. If its down to 0 degrees I take bivvy sack but still use my 30 degree slumberjack. If I was buying I would try a 20 degree around 2 lbs but they are pricey.
