I have the same truck with new motor. I can't believe the cash these go for. What's your trick for getting 23mpg with those tires?

I saw my first mountain lion in the white tanks but I hear from biologists that there are not lions in there except occasionally one roaming. I have been hiking , biking, running , and riding mules in the white tanks for several years and I have never seen a buck in there. I do see does almost every time I'm in there. I ran into a guy on my mules like 4 or 5 miles back in there a few years ago and he had pics of a few good bucks. He only got 2 pics off his camera in 3 months but he did put an arrow in one. It took him 19 trips in there sitting in a blind before he got it done. Most people don't realize how beautiful it is back in there. If you know where the water is you can stay prety deep in there.

This thread is very good lance, keep it going. Where do you shoot?

Bummer on the injuries hope you guys heal quick. I know hurting can set you back quick

I can say brushy is off list maybe, I really hate it when they don't answer email. Bad buisiness. Oh well their loss. I will try a few more emails to some others. I would rather go rifle myself but am open as well. I am going to call the Texas game office as well and see if anyone there has some reputable ranches. I also heard Texas Craigslist has an add or adds from ranches that are free but your on your own, some even will pay you. I hate Craigslist though.

Impresive, I am pretty sure my mules would come unglued. They dont mind if I manty meat up but out where they can see it UH not so sure, My guess is Instant orbit for the rider.

Man thats one nice string, Love the dogs rolling and lounging by the one in the grass. Also that is one stud horse to have that cat laying on him.

I know I can call TNF and I will on Monday but my curiosity sitting at work is killing me. I find nothing online weather the area north of Bartlett lake road and east of horseshoe road is still closed from fires in 2006??? Anyone been out there lately? I used to quail hunt in there years ago???? Looking for some Jeep fun fro next week.
-
Ya I found that already, in 2006 they show the closure order but there is no recinding of the order shown. So do we assume everything listed in 2014 ia all restriction / closed areas?
-
Pm sent. Ya I am tired of waiting figured this year if I font get 1 or 2 but got the 3rd I would be hunting

Just layed out families picks , $1116.00 total, ouch. I know I was on gf side during fee restructure for the most part but now I see how painful it is. No big deal most won't draw anyway so it will just be the fees.

What do you guys think about an archery only ranch? Check out brushyhillranch.com just west of San antonio 80 bucks a day with lodging. I have an email into them.

You will be fine with accuracy as you are thinking. I carry a savage axis, super light and very good shooter up to 5 or 6 shots. After that groups open up but still good enough to kill

If you need tent warfare try dehydrated apricots. Get them where the raisins are at in the store. Super deadly. -
imr 7828 bass pro
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to 5guyshunting's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Bass pro had a good selection of RL powders and 4064imr last week. I snagged 8 lbs of superform, hope its good as I am hearing. Cabelas had zero on Monday morn. Lame. -
Good advise. I am fine butchering but some hunts still try to get per pound from what I read on the sites. Some help a little, some store, some have nothing. Post up your preferences so we can get on the same page or chapter anyway.

Believe it or not on sale I paid 28.99 for the QuickDraw, 39.99 for the second one, and 169.00 for the kelty
-
Alps QuickDraw I just got but have not trued yet, its minimalist just to carry my bow horseback. Next is also alps but can't find name, it gets it done for bow horseback and also has meat shelf and folds down to a fanny pack. Last is the workhorse kelty, 100 plus lb loads no problem. Kelty red cloud. I'll post pics in that order

I have a few questions , is everyone planning weekend trip? Who is leaning towards camping on our own vs cabin with meals? Also what about cabin and our own food? I would tend to lean toward cabin with our own food and going during the week but I am open none the less. Last thing is what trailer options do those interested have? Its of of meat and gear in a carpool so trailer would be essential. One last thing if anyone is calling ranches make sure we clarify added cost, I hear a lot of times they wait til you ask or are there to mention hidden meat, trophy, processing, or storage fees.

Cheap ones replace often, I use wooly assless chaps but they are not for everyone.

Like a lot of the little things to shoot long the heavier barrel gives less change shot to shot. Less whip, more rigid, you can shoot more rounds together rather than a sporter starting to creep off poi after 5 shots.
