2012 Coues Whitetail Video
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to gaps's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Good deal, appreciate the feedback. I do some long range shooting and get out to 1800 + but along the same lines shot deveation varies so much with the slightest difference in the field that I just don't trust any kind of comfort I get when things are lining up in practice. I dont shoot enough to really be a judge though and I only hunt with sporter lightweight guns so 200 yrds will be my max for now. -

MULEPACKHUNTER replied to kingbeer's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I was in the same area Northwest of Payson on some pears but no bears, dont doubt there in there but didnt see any. Had about a 100 in white tail walk 30 yards from us on the mules in there. -
Only limited to how many rnds you can carry. I tape 30 rnd clips together for quick change

You guys are really bumming me out, I may be solo in there for the hunt!!!! GUess I will have to bivy in some thick stuff and stay off the trail. Bad enough hearing animals at night without hearing people moving around as well.

Great info thanks, so as a ranch volunteer I will be putting out a lot of deer cane #6 for the cows. They really love that stuff, it gives them a shiny coat. Kidding of course, thanks again -
Not much change, hard part is getting a feild day

What kind of range are we looking at here? Gald you were able to put him down congrats. Seems risky to me and its just me, I am new to this but I hope I can get close enough to make the first one hit the mark. Alot of chances to wound an animal in that video. My 2 cents aren't worth alot but there they are. -
Going back to the loss of accuracy when neck sizing if it is in that same gun maybe it is a bad chamber, when reamers wear out they will taper the diameters some. I know when I neck turn and neck size I get much better accuracy. You should have a nice smooth finish in the chamber, if its rough then it wasn't cut well, on all my factory guns I have a flapper i run on a drill and it hold red burtex and i polish all chambers up to the rifling. I work in manufacturing and i cant believe some of the work on these factory guns. They dont deburr at all and I always get a bunch of material out of them after doing it myself.
-
Sounds like your on the right track, use an led light and look in the chamber for burr or damage as well. I guess it could also be head space if it were back out of the chamber too far but not likely. Hope you get it dialed in soon, let us know

Lmao that's funny, bull fever overload?????

Very common with belted magnum, your getting the bulge right on top of the belt. When you full length your feeding material down to the top of the belt. Regular dies can't resize this area. Neck sizing only is one option which I do, also search internet for belted magnum collet sizing die, there's a guy selling this die which fixes the top of the belt bulge and fits all belted mags with one die for ninety bucks

JUST a thought but mine didn't get drawn for their deer hunts this year but I am still going scouting for next year. Im sure the guys that have the answer to this question arent going to give up their hard work that easily. If you cant scout then work your butt off durring the hunt or fork out the cash for a guide. best of luck
-
You get anymore hopped up and your going to need a rifle scope.
-
It would be nice if they allow you to purchase ahead of time and predate the starting point, especialy the first year with most hunters having the whole year due to putting in for the Spring hunts.

I am thinking a great hunt spot is one where you can hunt bear, Javi, deer, elk all in the same spot and then walk a mile and fish for bass. Not alot of elk pics with pears in them. Great Bull

Rifle Build - Looking for Input
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to kwp's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I told a friend ounce if you want to get brain soup just open a load data book and figure out what caliber gun you want to build. LOL Have fun and all 6.5 suggestions i agree they are all great. -
I believe form this coming up in the meetings I attended you put in your license number you currently have and do the draw then if drawn you better remember to get the license when your current one runs out. I see this getting folks into trouble. Funny thing is i though this would be a good thing but now I think i will be buying my licence in January anyway.

Holding the Grand Canyon Hostage!!!!!! $500.00 for a us Senator or Congressman may not be a big deal but when the young family loses $500.00 it hurts just enough to put stress into daily activities. I pretty much feel like it was taken from me by our government. Yes the shut down tagged the Grand Canyon and with an annual plan of attacking the big ditch in pursuit of inner peace and health I am now sitting holding the bill waiting to see if our non government will decide that I lose my money or not. Good Job guys, much apprecieated (quote from abc 15) About 18,000 people visit the Grand Canyon daily in October, when temperatures are in the 70s and visitors can see the leaves changing colors on the drive. Nationally, about 715,000 people a day visited the 401 areas within the national park system last October, contributing about $76 million a day to local economies, said National Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst.

Brass splitting help!!!!
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to hunter1026's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Squeeze with pliars and when you hit thin wall it will be soft. Factory ammo is still soft so it didn't split since it was not hardend from firing.
