Trying to obtain high FOC - without killing velocity
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to Buckwheat893's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Play around and spend money if you want but your set up is fine where it is. I went into this and did some testing and ended back where I started. I made my own custom inserts at 35 grains and shoot 100 grain heads so im 135 up front, have no idea what the percentage foc is but it paper tunes dead on and goes up to the fletchings in targets.. A little trick if you do start playing with front weight is to add wraps to the back end if you get underspined, I had 8 in wraps on mine with 4 fletch and that's the best I got until I dropped the front weight. I just need to shoot better like was mentioned above. I shoot too many different bows also. (Easton fmj 29 in cut, 3 fletch with 6 in wraps 35 grn inserts and 100 head at 502 grns total) 72 lbs draw @29 1/2 hit about 278 fps I wish I had a sound meter to see numbers but I can tell a big difference from lighter arrows in noise -
Loreto is one heck of a trip, my buddies family took me with them down there when we were seniors in high school, we drove all the way. epic fishing and diving. Ill never forget that trip. we spent 3 weeks down there and caught just about every fish there is. 30 lb tuna all day long and I pulled in a 130 lb grouper. Back then it was 85.00 for a panga for the day and those guys had you on fish non stop. We were 15 years old and they dropped me and my buddy off in the little town and left us for the day, bet that doesn't happen any more down there. Walked around with a six pack of beers and a belly full of steak. Some of the best diving and snorkeling Ive ever seen right out of the casita. I bet it hasn't changed a bit since 1992

Today’s lunch spread, Durado Tacos avacado cilantro lime aoli tempura jalapeño slices, red cabbage and gotta have the home made corn masa tortillas
-
Really simple man, I can’t believe I wasn’t making these all along. Masa Harissa or corn masa and chicken stock or broth. Mix in masa and stock till it’s like popcorn texture and if squeezed it keeps a nice smooth shape. Press in between plastic on tortilla press and cook in hot pan 3 min total and place in foil covered to steam finish. I have added lard and it’s good too but this is clean and light.

Corn tortillas went fast but here’s some flour the kids requested.

Ya they showed back up, got a call on this, just running late on a day of hunting.

Carefull with the campfire thing, we had some do gooders stop in our camp when we had our propane fire pit running. Good for them for trying to help but yelling from the road cuss words could go wrong some where. We just laughed and showed them it wasn’t wood fire.

Haha hey man I got a search and rescue call about you I think, then about an hour later my mom calls me making sure I’m at work and not up hunting because it’s going around Facebook in forest lakes . If I wasn’t at work I might have been riding around looking for you. Someone really cares about your butt.

super cool man im jealous, I think that's one of the first times I have heard of a good experience with those hunts. Congrats

Did anyone hunt squirrels today?
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to PRDATR's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
That's my two favorite ways, brine no matter what over night then either stew low and slow or bread and fry. I do want to try meat-eater style, back hams chicken wing style. -
Not sure if they are still around but try Marquis Cattle Dogs, they were out in rio verde and had some really good lines and training as well.

Anyone having issues with lake access??? when COVID broke out we had some issues at lake pleasant with access. I had thought things would eventually open back up but Maricopa county took the opportunity to tighten things up more than ever. For a lot of years we have been fishing pleasant and have never had issues and being 25 minutes from the water used to be great. Well now they have closed the north ramp and parking completely during the week and close the gate on the weekends at 8 pm. This restricted me from my favorite running trailhead and hiking. This has caused crowds to be concentrated on weekends and long lines at the gates. I hit the main gate after driving to the barricaded north entrance at about 7pm one day and they would not let me use my year pass since it is a day use pass and they close at 8pm. I’ve been night fishing for 15 years with a year pass and never was questioned. Now they said I can’t use my pass if I’m going to night fish and wanted me to pay again. I made a U turn and went to the east side and paid there. If your hitting lake pleasant anyway be ready to be treated like a criminal and restricted, the east side of the lake is privately run and they are friendly and welcome you and are open 24 hrs I’m hoping they have a year pass for next year. hows it going on some of the other lakes??

I decided a long time back not to use Starbucks products so I switched to an aeropress and brought my own home ground coffee backpacking or packing mules. It’s a lot more work and I would like to have some instant coffee packets again. Anyone know of an alternative company like one of these military startups that have instant??? Any good??? I’m a coffee snob so leave out the Folgers
