12x Leupold maven vortex uhd comparison
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to RodFarva7's topic in Optics and tripods
I have looked through the vortex and Maven but not the Leupold. I currently have the HD razor 12's and was condidering switching to the Maven but I didn't see much difference from mine to the UHD or the Maven. I did do two different tests on low light with my Razors and both times I could see the deer well enough to decide on a shot before and after legal shooting time. -

NIce, figured this was dead on here and forgot about it. Who else has been going crazy without the gyms? I have 10 lbs I need to dump from the gut and 10 to add on the old arms, cant wait for the gyms to get back to normal. Legs are mountain ready but the top end isn't picking up chicks lately.

Every year my wife and I work toward our goal of an early retirement and this year somehow, despite all the drama of late, we have managed to become almost debt free, empty nested, promoted at work, and have some good investments. Our two kids are stable and growing more so every day despite their young ages and being on their own. We have been spending time every summer in different states to try and figure where we might want to make our last home build. If you had to choose what would it be between Missouri, Colorado, Arizona,,,, almost anywhere in each state is a possibility. If you are dead set on a state what would be the pros and cons such as bugs, heat, hunting, fishing, shoveling snow, politics, etc. currently I’m sitting here with no power since 530 and I’m a little tired of the middle of AZ.

Looks like good times man, congrats on the big change. You will be missed at Ross. Not sure what we will do about our coyote numbers now.

spent some quality time with my boy Jake this week chasing Elk and deer. I kind of knew it was getting close to time but not as close as now! Don’t get me wrong Jake is fine he will just be a home bound dog from now on, we put some good miles in checking cams and hiking my bow around and even though he could hardly stand up after a few days in he still tried to go with me this morning. He is a real bad dude, he hated it but I gave him the day off. I’m going to miss some of my favorite time in the mountains with Jake leading the way out in front of the mules or running squirms from tree to tree. Happy retirement buddy, you earned it.

My wife brought up to me that when we see elk the cows are almost all with calves. After thinking about it and looking at some video I noticed she was right. I wouldn’t hesitate to say we have seen like 80% of cows with calves this year. I just stalked in on a group this morning that was 100% cow calf pairs. I don’t remember seeing that in the past. Anyway just a random detail from spending a lot of the summer up here in the pines.

Ya Jake is 11 or so and I know it’s time. I’m preaching to the choir with the loss of dog after dog over the years, heck thats how u tell time these days. I know where I was and year based on what dog was up to what. We are torn right now on weather we will continue to have dogs in our life. So hard to watch them go but I will lose track of time without them.

Ya nothing personal and I know things are crazy right now but it is a real bummer to be in the woods and watch trailer after trailer get dropped off on Tuesday and Wednesday with no one staying there. Not to mention (but actually mention) all the trailers that are there from the weekend before. I find that to be a “”ick head move. Very sure none of the folks doing that could give a decent argument as to how they are entitled to block areas from myself and others.

Sweet man nice wrong buck

Now those units are a different story altogether, but this year we have spent some good scouting days in 5bs 5a 6b 3c. In all of those units up until today the cows we have seen have close to a 1 to 1 cow calf. Oh and heard several bugles the last couple of evenings after dark. Quite a bit of cow chatter early in the mornings also.

Are you meaning you have property in there? Or you have already squated your gear in a prime spot?

I’m up there right now , how much property and are horses ok? -
I kind of agree with the post but not totally, I bet most of us would have a good argument with who you might think was the worst attitude on here if you were in person by a fire and move on to go hunt or fish. One thing that’s a bummer to see on all media platforms is what people click on, I pay close attention and make sure I never click on silly human content. Example, YouTube video of a young man making a knife from raw metal with some serious craftsmanship gets 5,000 views. Now some chick in a bikini shows her bum and 1.2 million views. I refuse to click and make it a point to find creative folks to support and ignore the typical click bait crap. Same kind of goes here on this sight , a good hunt post gets 5 comment and a few likes and Then some stupid drama with really bad content post has 20 pages of complete nonsense. People are going to be people and fill their brains with nothing productive. What gets missed in the mix is the silent majority of great lurkers and posters here.
