Propane pits are ok as stated. Couple of years ago I had a few encounters with other campers up at a horse camp, they had an issues with my fire and told me so but had to eat crow when I told them it was propane, one guy didn't believe me until I made him come look. Lol was pretty funny and good that people called me out , it does look just like a real fire but if you can turn it off its ok per the restrictions

We had our first real issues with this last year on late archery bull hunt. It was pretty easy to tell if someone was on water so we avoided it and had several back ups each morning. We even used an existing tree stand for a few days until we went in one morning and it was gone so we put ours up and continued on. We never saw anyone anywhere near that stand so that was odd. I even brushed tracks clean and only ever had the one other humans tracks when they grabbed the stand. With that said the biggest issue we had was with the upcoming hunt after ours, several times we had guys coming in days before the next hunt to set up their blinds or stands while we were hunting. That was a pain, I always glass my way into water but these guys just rolled the ranger right to the water and blabbed away for 10 minutes before noticing us in a blind.

Sawyer mini and 2 platypus 3 liter bladders is the hot ticket. The idea is you fill one bladder with good water and hike in, on the way in fill dirty bladder and filter into clean bladder then refill dirty bladder and finish hiking to camp then you have some clean and a full dirty to refill off of until you run out. You can also run larger dirty bladder or plug the mini right to either and drink through the filter. Lots of options. With that said I use the MSR Sweetwater pump for now and still run the two bladders, I already have the pump so why switch. If it ever breaks I'll buy the mini. One situation we ran into that makes the sawyer questionable is one trip was super dry and the only thing that kept us on the mountain was a small puddle that we were barely able to pump from, if we had the sawyer style we would have needed to dip water into the bladder and no way we could have in this puddle. So know your water source and choose accordingly. Always bring iodine as back up no matter what. My buddy I helped on his hunt also bought me the larger sawyer base camp type deal but it's much larger than the mini and has a 5 liter dirty bag and 3 liter clean. I'll try this one at horse camp this year. To heavy for backpacking solo.

Just make sure you store outside the vehicle when traveling, a lot of horror stories of discharge when being transported.

Pretty fun when the fish you catch is almost as big as the rod you use!!

Man that's crazy cool.

I don't think you would keep points if you donate it but if so that's a really great thing and I don't see any reason someone would not donate instead of turn it back in if that's the case. Maybe Someone knows for sure?

Man those deck shoes are so last year man time to upgrade!!! -
My first backpack tent was the eureka solo, good sized one man and pretty light. I road out a 2 day storm in it and only hit the edge ounce or twice. Hahha I'm able to wedge everything in it with me and have room to move a little. I stick my bow in between the fly and nest just leaning it against the nest. 69.00 bucks online new and I still have it and use it every year.

I don't have pictures but broke both my legs at the same time and had surgery. I'm top full of metal and scars but I do know broken bones heal back stronger than before. You just have to do the recovery and hard work and have a little luck. Look at Travis pastrana, the human body can take a lot of abuse. Amazing some times when you think of it. Mike I can say my wife had the Achilles surgery and had the relief cut up in the calf, she is now back to the gym and hiking and she is very happy she did it. -
Happy birthday

Kifaru makes a sawtooth with stove also that rocks, I don't own one but slept in one. I do have a lite outdoors titanium stove for my 10x10 lodge tent and its money for cold weather. Also Kifaru has the new tut that's close to the sawtooth and cimarron. I too dream of a tipi, I think that's the last tent I would like. I'm headed for the Kifaru 8 man and already have a stove so I would be set for 3 guys on late season hunts

Quilt vs bag, basically you are gaining the warmth of the down you compress under your body. So you also gain the weight of the down or fabric that is now not under your body.

My first ever backpack trip and first archery hunt was in 2012 if I remember right and I went from zero to 10 miles back in 1 month including bow. I shared a tent with my partner , used Walmart backpack, Walmart sleep bag, cheap foam pad, 7 year old boots, 9 year old camo, pocket rocket stove, mtn house and tuna fish, pse nova bow, bushnell binos, I'll tell you right now those were some of the best dang days I've ever spent in the woods, it hooked me for life to the backcountry, I spent all the next years slowly upgrading items and still keep that first set up for friends to use, goodwill, army surplus, Walmart, Amazon used, or even make your own stuff. I've built my own pack saddles, fixed bags, sewn clothes, glued boots, there's always a way and we definitely get caught up in the top gear, don't let lust keep you from getting out. Get tough and buy cheap then save and buy the lust later

Planning a big trip next year starting in Wyoming fly fishing my way back to AZ over two weeks or so. I am a rookie at the fly deal and could use some help, oddly enough I'll be building my own rods and lines from scratch but I'm not sure on length and weight. If you had two rods and 3 reels what would you bring for rods and what 3 lines would you spool? Also if you had your pick of rivers to hit what would be your top 2 rivers in Wyoming and Colorado?

Great info thanks a ton. One cool deal on my guided float is flys are included, that will help get me started then I can shop local and get the right flys , for Wyoming anyway. Right now I have a total of 7 flys. Haha
