MULEPACKHUNTER replied to azhunter85's topic in Buffalo Hunting
Nice work all. Have they started implementing some of the new stuff up there to help hunters harvest ? -
My last few trips to SD I just used my big bass rod and an old Abu Garcia reel and had a blast.

I Just had a thought for a new law to be brought by us to help inform the public on these groups that seem to want to stick their nose in everyone elses business I.E. HSUS, PETA, and others. What if we could pen a law that forces such charity company to have to inform any donation of basic financial disclosure. Here is an example, Susan G Coleman ,,,,, 1 year revenue of 258 mil 180 mil goes to charitable causes such as research grants 34 mil goes to fundraising 24 mil goes to management 20 mil is a surplus in order for any charity to receive funds they have to inform the donor of this information, I feel this would help some not so great charities do better in deciding where to spend donations. And possibly help donors understand some charities spend money on issues they may not want to be involved in. If a New Jersey cat lady sees 60 percent of all donations to HSUS go to lawyers pushing the charities agenda and not supporting the animals that need it?? Who knows?? After doing some research on this issue I have seen some bad numbers, mostly some of the CEO salerys. 1.2 mil a year to run a charity kind of defeats the purpose??

As I stated in previous comments what about updating the Dated Pittman Roberts and Dingle Johnson acts? along with hunting and fishing we have issues with attacks on public lands and access. I believe its time for all multi use individuals to start paying their way. New self imposed tax on products related to all users not just hunting and fishing, I.E. hiking, biking, climbing, camping, all things outdoors. Lets call it the multi use act, an all new organization fighting for all and uniting us as well. Even if we just updated the current models to match the times.

Like the top photo comment says, sous vide. Salt, pepper, butter, rosemary, sealed in ziploc bag air taken out and sous vide at 132 for 3 or more hours then marked hard in a Dutch oven with olive oil no more than 3 or so minutes then rest for 45 minutes. Had some for lunch today and it was tender but not as moist. Search "sous vide everything" on YouTube, you'll look at cooking meat in a whole new light. Game changer. I started using this method while catering some private dinners. It's hard to mess up and helps with timing for a large party meal. It's also great for meal in a bag dinner. I like to cook carrots, onions, potatoes, spinach,in a pan then place in vacuum bag with chicken breast and put in sous vide at 160 degrees for several hours and eat whenever dinner hits. Works awsome and little fus or mess

Sportsmans Input Sought by ConserveandProtectAZ.org-Unit wide Raffle and Auction Tags
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to Jay Scott's topic in The Campfire
Some of us do what we can, the on the ground work is poorly ran by all groups who do the work, they don't get the word out and they don't have flexibility on the times. I would love to get out there and get involved but it's always on the weekend and it's last minute if I hear anything at all , this area needs a lot o work to get the word out. Again education -

Raffle tags will not work, 673,000 raised in last years big game super raffle which is nation wide and 10 tags and that's not going to get the funds needed. -

Money raised from the 200 tags in the raffle in Utah 1.50 of the 5.00 per raffle tag goes to conservation on the ground, 70 percent of the money goes to admin fees for SFW and the mule deer foundation. You'll be happy to know that a state wide az mule deer tag is auctioned off at the same expo. 280,000 last year. The good news is over 4 million is raised at the event and a large amount like 93 percent of that money hits the ground. Also good news is the money from az auction tags does come back to az. This is all new to me and I'm having a head ache now -
Sportsmans Input Sought by ConserveandProtectAZ.org-Unit wide Raffle and Auction Tags
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to Jay Scott's topic in The Campfire
I think Jay did just fine getting as much info out as possible at this point. The only way this works is if they do auction tags, I know this is not popular and the rich guys seem to be the enemy but the fact is they raise the majority of the money going this route. With that said I don't believe this is the way to raise the money and I would not support anything involving tags at this point. I would rather have a separate Arizona tax on hunting related products to raise the money or something in that relm. If you look at the math from last years Expo in Utah the majority of the money raised was auction tags. 2 auction tags raised almost as much money as the entire azbiggameraffle for 10 tags nation wide. The raffle tag model will not work in my opinion, and tossing numbers like 100,150 tags makes my stomach turn, also hearing someone try to tell me that that number is such a small percentage of the total tags is even worse. Draw odds in AZ are terrible as it is, driving them down will only alienate more potential hunters or even current ones. I agree 100 percent on the need for education of the public that does not understand AZGF, Hunting, Fishing, and general public lands issues. As a new hunter I dove right in and joined conservation groups and devoured information from guys like Steve Renella, Cam Hanes, Joe Rogan, Randy Newburg, and more. I myself have converted my anti hunting Vegan Mother to the point that she would actually support hunting if confronted with the chance. I have met many people who are just not in touch with this part of their world and unfortunately these are the people who decide on issues like the Cat hunting Ban. HSUS is very good at getting to these voters by playing on their lack of knowledge on the subject. An article or add written by HSUS can easily leave out details and sway the uninformed voter to slowly take all hunting away. Education is going to be essential in the future not only to help keep public lands open but to keep conservation efforts like hunting in the hands of biologists and science based groups like AZGF. It would help maybe if all of the numerous conservation groups who receive millions of dollars in support from sportsman and woman could get together in a think tanks situation and come up with something to help with education of the non hunting community, this is not just an Arizona issue, every state is going to need similar ideas. Anyway Just My Thoughts -

900 $ dollar bottle of wine no thanks, I can survive on my beer and vodka for 3 months with that amount, Thats nuts .....Ya you can but why would you want too? Hey, maybe I can auction off my elk tag and we can split the bottle me and you, see what we are missing? Haha
-
Ah not sure I care if they make money selling adds on the tags. Why not , not like it hurts me or anything. The one that bothers me is "somehow " my email address ended up in some outfitters outbox for services on my upcoming hunt. That one ticks me off.
