Actually have never looked at speed on any hand gun ive owned, I just shoot groups and steel and it either is there or its not. I can certainly test it but I dont see a need. The ports are actually sealed by the bullet as it travels out, the little bit of gas passing the bullet is no longer pushing it anyway so my uneducated guess would be no loss at all. I do plan to test recoil which there is plenty of info on but each design and port size has little differences. I went on the low end as far as port size so I can open them up later. Need to get some slow mo shots from the side before and after. Looking at grouping is what i really want to see. I dont shoot the 40 near as tight as the 9mm.

Made a new bolt knob finally , cudos if you can guess how I made this all on a manual lathe!! also went out Easter Sunday and shot nrl 22 match at Ben Avery, very cool and well thought out match. Good group out there and shaded nice set up. I’ll be back.

Thanks of the help, Finally completed this project. Star doesnt do residential and refered me to Deversified, They did a good job in the end but man was it a nightmare. The trades companies these days are awful to deal with. Wish I could just talk to the crews and cut out the office.

bottom 4 are 50, the white inside green is 1" or so, the top two were 100 but not the good ammo, best group was about .400

Shot that Salado Match and man what a fun group out there. shot ok and rifle ran perfect. Those 22 match targets are smaaaalll. Didnt have the best ammo for the match but I think we found some winners now.
