You have to just go, exercise and the outdoors is the fountain of youth. Im sure every time you guys think of all the work of planning and packing and cleaning up after but you actually still go camp or hunt or fish you feel much better after and your glad you went??? I know i feel that way. This year I had an elk tag and spent the entire 14 days or so hunting solo. only took one day off and that was to help another hunter. It was a bummer at times but I wouldnt trade those days for anything. A few tips that may help, organize your gear for less work. I put together a small box trailer with all my gear in it. Bunk bed and camp box. All I need to do is fill the cooler and grab some food and clothes and im on the road. when i get back i just dump the cooler and grab dirty clothes and park the trailer. Its small and cheap but the bed is really nice and man its super convenient. I have a few of those plastic bins from china and all my hunting camp gear and clothes are in them, always ready to go.

Reloading bench ideas
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to Calebwalter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
recycled cabinets top and bottom, MDF top with T track installed plus custom quick change plate recessed in top, I can swap operations in seconds including presses. More labor than money in the bench its self. lots of storage. Behind this picture is a husky toolbox with similar set up for trimming and presses and all drawers filled with loose items. Still need to label drawer faces. Cant go without the old Coues calendar as well -
What's the Best Way to Save on Ammo Shipping Costs?
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to RichardJCross's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Find someone who can bulk buy at free shipping. Make freinds with an FFL with dealer status and buy enough to avoid shipping, usually 300.00 to 400.00 or more -

I was thinking of trying that, pushing bullets out to jam for shorter cases. Good thought. Aslo thinking of building a sled and water cooler fire forming set up before my next barrel. Would be good to have around the shop. -

260 Ackley Improved
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Wondering if you had any light primer strikes when fire forming? I might be slightly long on my headspace. I get close to 1 of 10 rounds no ignition. I put a new primer in and then no issue. Also notice the light strikes are on rounds that measure shorter by a few thousandths on gage line. -

Havnt made time to reload but it shoots the remington standard really well fire forming so im guessing it will tighten up a few more percent. The Ackley shoulder gives more room at top end of powder charge. It should allow for higher velocity with less powder from what Im told, over the standard rem case. -
Coues Deer Rifle Build
MULEPACKHUNTER replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
So here are some thoughts on the Weatherby 307. I would use this action again, only minor fit and finish issues after getting some measurements. Superior to Rem 700 action for sure. At 750.00 for a ready to go 700 footprint clone action so far I say I like it. Main issue I had with it was they painted the lug face, I skim cut it off while indicating and it was close to square but with just buffing the paint off I got .0005 better. So the metal under the paint was .0005 square to center axis but the paint was showing .001 Overall very nice action -
Long Action any caliber what are you building no holds barred.??????

Coues Deer Rifle Build

Put a few rounds through it. Shot decent at MOA. Opened up when it got warm. What is your preference on bottom metal? Bdl or box? I ended up standard bdl but have m5 and magazine in the mail. Delivery issues. Man it’s warm on the range. Looks and feels great in hand. Could have used better glass and bipod. took suggestion and mounted Arca with pic rail up front. Works great on tripod. -

Temporary scope and bipod. -
Wanted to get some thoughts on this. I heard on Meateater trivia that when Bass bought Cabela's they shut down its headquarters that was in a small town of 6000 people and that close to 2000 people worked there. Makes me not want to shop there ever again. I had already backed off from them and went to Sportsmans anyway but this really irked me.
