Christmas day hauls - what'd you guys get?

Over the years we have pulled away for mainstream and we don't do gifts at Christmas. We make a big effort to spend time with our spread out family instead. With that said we still bring house warmers on occasion. Lol my house will be very warm this season.

Maybe I am off base and I hope maybe I am. I hope it's just a temporary shortfall of funding but I am thinking commun sense and all possibility of even lackluster management of an agency is completely out the window. America the beautiful pass equals 85.00 plus 15.00 for boating pass and your good for the year on tonto right? Nope , toss that and 85.00 for both! Well I didn't buy this year so 4 dollars is all they got. Now I drive down to the lake and ,,,, oh the gates are locked to the boat ramp? Ok no big deal we launch in the dirt. Fast forward to the next day we come back to pull out and forest service is using the ramp! They pull out and lock the gate back up! I am confused, why exactly am I paying for lake use? I am so pissed right now. The place is a mess, really embarrassing to see , pit toilets are worthless, Ok I'm done but tonto national forest can kiss my bum, coal for Christmas for you dopes.

    46BE Quality

Hey dirtbag my buddy told me his dad killed on day 6 and he was 165. Nice old ram but just didn't have mass like yours. They had a great hunt as well. They rocked 16 mules in there quite a few miles. Congrats man that's a beast for that area.

It's not a ramp fee but a watercraft fee. Believe it or not they charge a family for kayaks. Same a a boat even though it does not need to be registered ( oh and yes you pay for registration of watercraft) Sao wether you launch it or not you pay to get to the water. Cost me some cash to take the kids out with the kayaks last year! Some facilities are well mantained and I have no problem with paying, but Bartlett lake is a joke.

I will say rosy is better but I was at Bartlett lake. Oh and the genius in the forest service boat decides he needs to clean the 300 motor out in the parking lot and fires it up right there out of the water! What a dope. They will be trying to figure out why it's overheating next trip out! Sounded cool thoug. Lol We caught cats all night. Nothing was stolen but I did pull the truck over to an old guy camping and asked him to police the area, he was happy to.

    Mud Terrain Tires

I am really loving my toyo at11. No doubt really good tires. Now there are 7 of us at work all running nitro or toyo. I think bfg are good but not for heavy trucks. My Toyota loves bfg and they last but on my diesel they sucked.

    Careful what you wish for

Special thanks to Kelly for having me along on a monster adventure. I thought I was a backcountry guy and in good shape! This guy showed me what humans and mules can do if they are off their rocker! Homework done, scouting complete, thanksgiving with family, Kelly made the 3 mile trek into one heck of a hole not accessible by road or trail of any kind. Finding the elk for the second day in a row he waited 3 hours for the best of the bunch to make a mistake. After touching off a 300 yard one shot kill the work really began. Solo butchering to the point of exhaustion it was time to make the straight up hike back to the truck. After a rough nights sleep we made our way with the mules to get the trailer to a decent launch point. 3 hours of off trail steep rocky nasty thick mountain travel had us perched on a 45 degree hillside trying to unwedge a large bull elk out from under a log. The meat was cold and no critters had messed with it. Even with two guys it took an hour to get the antlers out from under that log, we cleaned up any residual meat from the carcass and loaded the animals to the max. It was so thick Kelly had to carry the rack on his back while I tried to string three mules off the ledge down to better ground. We spent as much time on foot through really rough steep patches as we did in the saddle. 4 hours, 1 wreck, and 200 cuts and scrapes later it was dark, snowing, and we were a mile from the truck. Usually it's a bummer to see the truck after a ride but this time we were smiling and couldn't get the heater on fast enough. A beautiful snowy night and elk blackstrap breakfast later the adventure was over. Now I need volunteers to help unpack a mountain of gear??? Here's to new country, new friends, new knowledge, and making it back to our families safe and warm. Did I mention warm?

    Not one dam elk

Ya we worked hard, hiked , drove, glassed, scouted before season, put out salt, used other people's salt and blind, zero! Glad it wasn't my tag.

Trailer to tow a F350 with?

Yup, faulty fuel pressure sensor. Easy fix, I just unplugged it. After 300K miles any sensor can die. But we will be towing one of the vets trucks home. Tranny went out. Did I mention it's a Dodge Ram? Lmao! Mulepackhunter, great seeing you up there in your element. We're going to pass the hat around and buy you glasses so you won't scream elk each time a critter stirs. Lol 14813083709991853969011.jpg Oh and I put more hours on the glass that day than you 3 combined, I can make antelope into elk if I want.
