Winchester model 70 .270 150 grain load data?

Any model 70 owners out there? What loads have you had success with? Getting ready to work some up but wanted some advice before I purchase some powders. Thanks in advance. -
Winchester model 70 .270 150 grain load data?
Lazy-H98 replied to Lazy-H98's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks guys. My model 70 has a 24" barrel, NON-floated. My last loads were charged with H4831SC 55 grains, 150 grain Nosler ballistic tips, Remington brass, Winchester primers. These worked for me. Never clocked them but I can hit water jugs at 400 yards with no issue. Just wondering if anyone has had success with another recipe. BTW-I get the characteristic model 70 grouping with a hot barrel (shot 1 and 2 touching, shot 3 flyer) at 100 yards. Drove me nuts until I figured it out. -
They recognize a valid Arizona OHV sticker. Helmets required for under 18 years old at all times and adults, if driving on pavement.

I have a hunt in New Mexico next month. Do they require an OHV sticker/registration like Arizona? Also are helmuts required for adults? Taking our side by side so just don't want any hassles during our hunt. Thanks!

Thanks!

I'll be across the road in 22 this weekend scouting. Anxious to see some headgear too.

300 yards to the base of the farthest burm. 320 yards if you climb and place your target on top of the burm. If you are not a fan of hearing pistol rounds whizzing above your head, make it quick down there. The problem is the layout. There are pistol ranges on both sides of the rifle range so their ground ricochets zip on by overhead. Always makes me nervous. If people are using the pistol range I just work on the closer distances.

Great story. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on your bull. What unit?

Keep the updates coming. We were in there for the archery hunt. I'll be there next weekend for fall turkey.

This post is really going places historically. Just how long does new account activation take? Riveting..........

Complete garbage. Even if he didn't know the bull was already shot, he had one of two choices to make. After gathering all the information, he made the wrong one on many levels. It's still early, they should be getting really cranked up on Monday or Tuesday. With 23 bonus points in my back pocket, this same scenerio always crosses my mind. 4Falls post hit it on the head.

Saturday after work to help my brother in law, 3C.

Congratulations! Sure looks hot in 33, unless you connected on him in the morning. Thanks for sharing.

Nothing like the first. Now prepare him for the possibility that it may be a few years before another one like this comes along, :)

Great story. Thanks for sharing. Way to break the 100" mark.

Lord have mercy. Palmated. Congratulations. Can't wait for the story behind it.

I've been using "Offline Topo" by Trails Behind for years on my iPhones. It used to be a free app. Now its like $9.99. Works great for me. Once you download the app to your iphone, it utilizes the internal GPS, that's it. Constantly updates your location, you can set waypoints, elevation, sunrise/sunset. No signal or service needed. I've sent a screen shot of my location to others with the app to find me (of course I used cell service to send my screenshot). I have used it in 27, the true test to see if you are offline........

This is what we use. The battery operated Zodi. Runs on D batteries. Only $40 and worth its weight in gold. I have 2, one being a spare just in case. Everyone in camp is responsible for bringing their own water depending on how many showers they want to take. Normally we shower early afternoon and don't heat the water. For later hunts we heat up a galvanized bucket of water on the burner, dump it into a 5 gallon bucket and draw from that. A shower can be easily taken on 2 gallons of water.

How do you guys pass the time while sitting in a blind? Just bought a ground blind and was wondering. -
Portal says I slid in there with tag number 372 of 375. Hoping for an age class buck. If not, I think I'll just buy a nice frame for my tag to hang on the wall as a happy hour conversation piece for future generations. When asked about it, my response might be something like this: Me:Well son, that there is what used to be referred to as a leftover tag. Son:A leftover tag, what is that? Me:Well son, back in the day, the department used to always have a plethora of deer tags that you could apply for if you didn't get drawn during the first go round. Son:Really? So is that the reason why we have to fill out our top 7 hunt choices during the first draw? Me:You know, it used to only be 5 hunt choices, but the department had to expand it to 7 to give us a feeling of more opportunity. Boy did those guys with max points really hate it. Son:is that what you refer to as the good ole days? Me:Sure do. But the leftover tags are not entirely extinct, although they stopped posting them online, they still have around 900 turkey tags every year up near Utah. Son:Wow Dad that sure is a great story and a really cool looking frame. Can I get you another cold one? Me:you bet...................

Any recent updates about this bonehead from someone up in Rim Country? News travels slow down here in the valley or it gets buried by another wrong way driver or an overnight homicide. The reason I ask-me and the kids have 3 nights booked at Canyon Point CG Monday-Wednesday. It will be their first camping trip and hope it can be a good experience for them. They are old enough to know what "armed and dangerous" means...................Any updates would be great. Thank-you. If he is still "whereabouts unknown", should I still take them?
