  1. When will the books come out advertising the schedules for hunts and the regulations for the year? Thanks in advance for your reply.
  2. Thanks again for the replies. I am gearing up for the hunt! My wife is equally excited.

    Gay Marriage

I agree, even though I am an evangelical Christian, that there are much more important problems in our country than getting married and who can. I wish the government wasn't in the marrying business. By the way, if you marry a dude, does that mean you can hunt and fish anytime you want?

How did you process your pig?

Ok, I'm going to show my newbness here. I never knew javelina were good to eat. Where can I get some jerky and sausage to try? I only hunt what I intend to eat (coyotes being the exception). Thanks in advance for your responses.
  5. I live in Prescott Valley. I'm actually reading up on the 36 areas. I don't mind traveling. I want to get a tag in an area where I'm likely to see some deer. So, statewide is my limitation right now. If I get the tag I will spend some time in the area this summer, maybe coyote hunting and to do some glassing. With my job I can take off a day or two to go hike the area and do some glassing/coyote calling.
  6. I've not done my research as to which area I want to hunt in this year. I would like to balance two things. I'd like to get a tag in an area where there are lots of deer, but I also want to be realistic as to what area I put in for so that I actually have a chance of getting drawn.
  7. I want to thank everyone for the advice. I will take your words of wisdom to heart and I am going to order amanda's book tonight.
  8. I admit I am a beginner hunter in the state of Arizona. I shot many deer growing up, but it was in Mississippi. Hunting in Arizona is way different. If you're drawn, you only get a small window of time to shoot one deer. Plus, we rarely had to go more than a few miles from home to hunt, so we didn't have to pack in or out. So, I have several questions. I'm not asking for you to give me all the answers but I will be most appreciative if you could point me to some reliable resources. My wife and I want to get a coues deer in Arizona this year. 1. If I am going to apply for a December hunt, when should I do my scouting? 2. What signs should I look for while doing my scouting? 3. Why is field dressing necessary? (we never did this because we took the entire deer back home and dressed, processed it.) 4. What calls work best on Coues deer in Arizona? 5. What resource can I get to learn how and when to call Coues deer? 6. If hunting with a .270 caliber rifle, which ammo should I buy? brand? other specs? 7. Is it okay to quarter the deer in the field to make it easier to pack out? 8. How long after shooting the deer do I have to get the meat on ice?
