Every elk unit up north holds a 380 plus bull If you are hunting the whole 13 days and scout hard 350 Is very doable. How many animals has your wife killed, It might be really hard for her to pass up a 320 bull I had this tag 2 years ago and could have let an arrow fly all 13 days at 6x6's let a 360 bull go first morning at 7:30 am holding out for the 2 bulls I wanted missed one of them on day 10 and called the other in on day 12.and waited for a better shot and didn't get one.I drew this tag again this year.hopefully I can get my 380 plus bull.Good luck on your family's hunt. Also a great tag for a kid, lots of birds and usally very easy to call In several birds. not much hunting pressure.and don't forget to buy a lion tag. Seldom Drawn

So tell me why this Is so bad ,It has been there for years looks pretty clean maybe some of you are young guys, this is how many stands have been built for the last 30 years.and where do you guys hunt that you have the forest service take peoples stands.the last 2 forest service trucks I have run Into were lost even had a map. had to tell them how to get out, how Is this stand any worse then a store bought one that someone has left up for 5-6 years? First off If you don't guide or have helped on many friends or family's hunts you have to ask yourself what your expectations are, most people that wait this long shoot the first 70 inch goat they see and If they are happy with that It's awesome, so If you are good with that you don't need to scout maybe once just to learn the country antelope are all over the unit.If you want to shoot a toad you need to scout hard and find 3 or 4 bucks you will shoot because one If It Is really big the auction or raffle hunter will kill it before your hunt even starts usally the 3 or 4 days before, you have a really good tag just find the one or 2 or 3 you would be happy with. most people that get this tag don't no how tough It can be,but hunters who are In this unit year in and year out shoot 350 plus bulls every year. If you don't no where to hunt this time of year or can scout like crazy you might want to shoot the first spike you see. Seldom Drawn

Well I drew a archery bull tag. so I will be going down to Cabelas or Sportsmans to look at bino's I have at least 8 sheds I am going to keep.but I think I have around $2.300 In sheds so that should buy me something good. Seldom Drawn

In the last 4 days I have seen three flocks all with Gobblers they are starting to go crazy.On Friday a fourth flock was Struting on the Highway I came around the curve and almost took out one hen and three Gobblers they didn't even come out of there strut, love Is In the air.I think this year with the short winter they might be 2 weeks earlier then normal I think the elk droped there antlers a couple weeks early as well. I was on that hunt with my grandson last year and we saw 17 different herds of does ranging from 6 to 21 deer in a herd. we were only there 2 and 1/2 days.I think they could use a little thinning out. Seldom drawn

You must be new to shed hunting? this Is one of the reasons the forest service Is closing down all the roads. at least that's what they say.I don't let boot prints or quad tracks get to me when I shed hunt a lot of times I find sheds right In the quad tracks with no law enforcement out there this will always happen.has for many years.there Is 5 law enforcement for all of the area around flag make that 4, the fifth doesn't start for 2 weeks so It Is really hard to catch these people even when I have called law enforcment they might be 80 miles away so It's hard to catch them..with the popularity of Internet and the greed to find sheds for the money just like hunting I think It will only get worse.I hear It gets so bad up In unit nine they fly planes to catch these people. Don, I drew this tag with the Intent of giving It to my son, when I drew and went down to the game and fish and they said he was to old I was devastated.a week or so later I was about to call Hoal and donate the tag.Then the night before I was to call I got the reqs out and realized she made a mistake ,he had 3 more weeks before he was to old. the night before opening day we put a 84 inch buck to bed and I didn't see any body In the area.In the morning with 30 minutes before shooting light found me, a really good friend,and my son and within 500 yards of this buck before daylight then we saw headlights off In the distance that leads to a dead end road.when It got light enough my son was 5 seconds away from pulling the trigger, Boom the buck went down the other hunters got him what a beautiful buck It was. The next day we went to the area I had seen this buck only one time.all summer,we got rained on for 2 hours and were soaked to the bone. then out of nowhere he came running by us at 1000 yards without any of his does.he ran to a small hill in the trees where I had always seen the bucks In the area run too when they spooked, It took us 20 minutes to hike there and when we came around the cedar tree well the rest Is history. All but the single 5 point are from this year I didn't realize I tok that one off my pile. I was lucky and found these and a few others In 4 trips and a totall of 12 hours walking,I wish It was always this good,I am heading out this weekend to a couple other spots,I hope I get lucky. Seldom Drawn
