  1. Great buck!!

Sounds like you have a full schedule.

Best of luck on your forthcoming hunts.

Were you in a draw area? Public land? How many points?

No points as I live in Wyoming...it would take 2-3 pts. for non residents...it is actually on private ground...this unit does not have much public ground with good mulies ( but it does have good w.t.) to get on ground in these units it takes knocking on doors and 200 to 500 dollars for most non residents...living here helps me a lot and I can check the deer out in spring/summer and then work on where to hunt...and yes..sch is FULL leave today for N.M. then back for a day and off to Colorado for Mulies, back for a day and off to N.Y. for W.T. back for 8 days ( going to try and hunt MT for deer if I am alive...) and then off to Kansas for deer! Right Knee operation the week I get back! LOL

  2. Sorry I tried to post on your question... the key to Wyoming is Points or backpacking...if you build points you can have a great hunt on several units that I know...if you backpack G or H you can have a great hunt but the pressure gets worse every year as we ( residents) buy tags over the counter...there are units (like 119) that have a later hunt and the bucks are rutting and tags are limited so this is a good lower country hunt. The other way is the "know someone" who has a ranch that the hunting is controlled on...I get points in most western states an after a few years I can be kinda picky on where I want to draw a tag..or I will buy a landowner tag when I don't want to burn points...hope that answers your question!

  3. Sounds to me like you had somewhat of a good year. Are you kidding me? :o If only everyone could experience that much success in a year. Congratulations and I agree with lucky2hunt, great looking ground blind. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see what this year brings. :)

    TJ

The Blind is made by a company called Blind ambition...small company and pricey but after a few days in a field the deer are tototaly comfortable ..again without the blind it would have been very tough to make it happen...

  4. Wow! Awesome! "brute" is a perfect description for both of those deer! So now I have a question; No offence, but what on earth are you doing on THIS site??? lol With deer like that, what on earth could you be interested in a little coues deer?? ;) In all seriousness though, welcome to the site and thanks for sharing! S. :)
You crack me up! Well I have never hunted those little suckers you guys have in N.M. and we want to see how tough it is. I

drew a Unit 27 Muzzleloader tag...now I have a goal of atleast 100 inch deer...This will be a crazy challenge I know, but don't count me out yet! I do have one little advantage...my buddy got us a Gun Werks muzzleloader for the hunt so we can shoot effectively twice as far as most other muzzleloaders...I know not fair but give me a break we have a very short season and we have never been to the unit or hunted this little cridders you call gray ghost...and if they are ghost then we will need all the help we can get! So if anyone has hunted 27 in N.M. and "wants to help a brother out" or better yet tie one to a bush it would be

    appreciated!

  5. Minus WHAT!!! COLD!!!! I dont have enough cloth of stay warm in that kind of weather! Congrats on your bison! How long did it take you to get if out (assume it was packed out on horseback)?

LOL cold was not the word...but it was a dry cold! OK it is amazing how you do this...you split it open like any other animal...cut out the rear part..then you kinda dive in as far as you can and get the wind pipe cut...this is where it gets interesting...you then take your lariat and put it around the wind pipe as far as you can get it down, then you hook it around the horn of the saddle and as the horse pulls you cut underneath the cut the sides inside the cavity... before you know it the whole works comes out...really not too bad...then we had a sled with two horses we jumped on the bison and "drove" the bison to the road...we had a life on the back of a pickup so we could lift and skin ASAP as when it is that cold there is a concern about teh meat spoiling from freezing on the surface and not letting the heat escape! After it was skinned we use the lift to load it into the back of my pickup...I have to tell you it looked pretty funny to have a whole Bison in a short bed pickup! The whole process took about 2 and a half hrs from start to finish...not too bad...if you have the right equipment.

  7. That is awesome to hunt with your wife and kids Congrats. My brother in law and I head up to your neck of the woods every other year to hunts speed goats. Gotta wait to see if we got drawn this year. Love that country

Good luck on the draw, we have been getting good moisture so far so hopefully the goats will be a little better than last year! We have ok goats here around Cody but like the units to the south a lot better...

  8. 2012 was a good year for the Scott family...although there were lots of deer a few elk,Bison and Antelope shot...this hunt was my favorite by far...

the 4 of us leave Cody at 2:30 get to a good spot...see a great buck but can't get a shot...run 200 yards...jump a MOUNTAIN LION at 25 yards! Go back to where we saw the Buck and he comes out at 275 yards and Derrick drills him!! A true family affair...with Derrick, Sam and Eileen.

  9. That is a beautiful Muley. Nice main beams and long pts. The picture with the whitetail and Muleys in the truck is unique. Pretty sweet to hunt them both in the same area. Eastern WY ?

No not eastern but western Wyoming...whitetail and Muley's mix pretty often in the lower country...

  10. Here is a picture of a nice Buck I shot in Wyoming...put him to bed and find him at first light the next day...had a great sunrise to shoot pictures....the second picture is my pickup loaded with 3 nice bucks..we were pretty popular when we showed up in town....

Good catch on the bucks in the truck! One is a whitetail the other two are Muleys...The whitetail are moving the muleys out more and more each year...kinda sad....
