Curious if anyone has had the tag. I know a couple and have spoke to one of them. Shoot me a message! Thank you! I drew it on my second choice
-
draw the tag an we can talk 🤣 its hunting at the end of the day. never know. seems its very "pockety" where most sheep hangout. youd think there would be sheep all over in that wilderness. maybe too many lions 🤷♂️

I fell in love with sheep hunting when I was 20 years old, obsessed more than you could ever imagine. I knew if I ever wanted to really hunt a Desert Sheep for myself in Arizona I needed to play the numbers. Went on three Cabeza hunts and fell in love with everything about it. The hiking, backpacking, low sheep numbers, no water source and long days of hiking with heavy packs. I knew from then on the numbers were best on drawing a tag and had luck on my side last summer. Would do anything to be back down there backpacking in BFE with my dad and friends again. Goodluck in the draw. (im 29 years old now with half a slam 😃)

you can glass sheep up from every road around the wilderness. most rams get killed from doing so. I've guided 3 an helped on 2 sheep in 24b/wilderness.
-
so what units would that leave for sheep hunting in arizona without a road in the unit?
-
its a federal wildlife refuge. thats a big no haha. walk-in only. roads are just wherever they choose to drive. not really a road most the time. just trails chasing illegals LOL
-
thanks good luck in the draw

ive heard of this happening quite a bit, seems everyone has a way of doing it.

yeah he netted 161 4/8. game an fish counted themselves 7 rings so dustin thought he was 8. personally think he's 9 as well as my buddies that outfit sheep but can't barely make out rings with his horns being so dark. who knows. either way 8-9 years of age isn't a bad.
-
Yes nine year old ram and 163 gross broomed on both horns. 15' bases with a tight curl. He was the lead ram of seven total, they pranced around following him up the mountain. Every now and then the younger rams would smash heads. Such an awesome experience. Couldn't ask for a better sheep, can't wait to get him back from taxidermist! Really hard to see his rings because of the red horns like you said. I had a friend take in the water for me, helicopter would of made it easier on him im sure LOL. Yeah it was a trip with the roads every 20 yards dang near. But that makes it better, we earned him as a team with heavy packs marching south!
-
tons of rams in the unit. i myself passed on twenty until I found a older heavy ram. in a matter of six days.
-
awesome desert deer, I can't help but blow it on mature bucks with my bow!
