Sad day .

The hosts on MSNBC are laughing and joking. Its over. Good game mitt, but not good enough.

Looks to be over to me. Good night every one and God bless us. Four more years of despair.

NM is a good example. Is their deer herd any more healthier then ours? Is their buck quality any better? No and no. I say shoot'm all.

I sure hope that we wake up Wednesday morning with new leadership. I have to admit however, that the smirky confidence of the current administration and its cohorts in the media leads me to believe that the results will go their way either by hook or by crook. I cant believe that a group of people as shifty and shady as this bunch will just sit by let the other guy win.

I have seen two. Both times in unit 22 around the control road. I had wondered if maybe someones domestic bird had gotten mixed up with some wild ones.

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?
4Falls replied to mtn-memories's topic in The Campfire
Awesome. Maybe they should just close all the roads. Or better yet keep closing open roads and opening closed roads. Just to keep us on out toes. As far as I can tell I'm the only one in the Kaibab/Williams district adhering to the rules. After an almost 3 mile hike to a tank I wanted to check out for my upcoming elk hunt. My daughter was under the impression that I had got in trouble thats why WE weren't allowed to drive on the road like everyone else had. Funny buts thats kinda how I felt too. -

Ive got an older Hoyt Tenacity. Short axle to axle. 70# pull, 29" draw. I'd really like to trade for a decent youth bow for my 13 yr old daughter, unless youve got something else in mind? bow.bmp bow2.bmp

Yesterday I sent an email to those involved at AZG&F expressing my concerns over a myriad of issues that I had with the proposed rule change document. I was surprised that I received a return response this late this morning. Hopefully they will do as they say and take our concerns into consideration.

I have a cousin that uses pack goats to hunt wilderness areas in Oregon. I also have a close friend here in AZ who uses llamas. Goats, and llamas for that matter, are much easier to keep than horses or mules. This applies not only at the "farm" but also out in the field. Its not necessary to bring in food for them as you would have to do with equines. My friends bring a little sweet feed along just in case one of the critters goes rogue and you have to coax him back in. That being said you'd obviously more of them since they cant pack near the weight good mule can. And llamas can be just as independent minded as mules especially when they get tired. IMO. Google pack goats youll find a ton of info. I've actually considered the goat idea myself for many of the same reasons you had.

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?

Was out today doing some scouting for my upcoming late archery hunt. Im on my quad travelling along an "open" road and I notice about a mile away on a parallel road a white SUV. I laugh to myself probably FS on patrol. Well in about 15 minutes i get to the spot where I have to make a long walk to a tank Ive always wanted to check out and the road to it is no longer open. So Im parked getting my stuff together and I can hear a truck hauling butt down the road I just came. He bounces through the wash to my right and what do you know! Its the white SUV with a USFS sticker on the door. He stops. I hold up my Kaibab travel management map. He waves and drives off. He must have thought he was going to catch a real outlaw. I guess he saw me when I saw him and put the spurs to it to catch me before I ruined the forest. As I went back I could see where he had stopped at each closed road looking for my tracks. -
As I stated earlier in the thread, Ive never shot anything off of bait. Mainly because I dont have the time to maintain a bait site. Ive hunted and killed over water which I guess is the same thing. Though Im starting to get confused on that too. But what I really dont understand, and I mean no disrespect by this, is why the the guys who dont like baiting are so against those that do? If your out there stalking your game one on one and enjoying it who cares if some other guy is sitting on a pile of corn? Wouldn't that be just one less guy out there potentially blowing your stalk?

Well the POS camera thieves found my camera. They got the camera, the homemade steel box, the chain, the cable and both locks. Thankfully they left my old worn out bungee cord. Thanks guys! I was actually going in to retrieve the camera cause I wanted to put it somewhere else. So I guess they were just helping me out. Sad part it they are most likely local to my area and it looks like a grown man and kid. Judging from the foot prints near by. Then today I got two flat tires. Awesome Weekend!!!!!

So I guess the only way to be a true ethical sportsman is to do things the hardest way possible.

I havent shot anything off of bait but only because I dont have the time to maintain such a thing. For those of you that do I think its awesome. So today we lose the baiting thing. Then cameras are next (which I do use, when they aren't being stolen). Then something else and something else. This is only an ethics issue amongst us hunters. The reason the govt agencies want it gone is a slow creep towards ending ALL hunting. The NF agencies and our own G&F are chock full of anti-hunters. We need to stick together.

I locked the heck out of that thing. Probably had more invested in the locks, box, chains, cables etc. than I did in the camera. And I had my last name written all over the thing with silver sharpie. So if you figure gas (they probably went in there twice, once to find camera and once to go back with proper tools to steal camera), time and spray paint to repaint my grafittied up camera. They could have just saved money and went to WalMart and bought a brand new one. I still have another camera out but I think I wont be purchasing anymore and I'll just go back to the way we used to do it in the olden days.

Wow 37! Time sure does fly. Pretty sure when I first met you you could count all your birthdays on one hand. Have a great day. - Jeff Falls

I was in the passenger seat of my buddies with a trailer load of llamas on our way to pack out his daughters bull. You were on a four wheeler going the other way.

With all the recent travel restrictions on OUR national forests its occured to me that a game cart of some sort will be beneficial to my up coming late archery hunt. Does anyone have any experience with these? any they would recommend?
