    Hitting Cards

Raymond is show up get a talk, go for ride with G&F they spin some pellets out of truck and bison come in and they tell you which 1 to shoot. Then you fill your freezer! Well, it appears I was mistaken. My tag is not the Raymond tag. Apparently, what I drew is a Limited Opportunity cow bison tag for Nov. 2 - Dec 31 in 12 A, 12B, and 13A (House Rock herd) At this moment, I am totally confused, especially since they are culling the herd this year. I mean, are there going to be many bison left by November. I know nuthin about this hunt so far. There will be plenty of bison left. It just depends on whether they are moving out of the park at that time of the year. Water and salt are the main enticements that pull them from the GCNP, and they will most likely have some source of water by November . I killed my bull in January, there was snow all over, yet they were still moving out to hit the salt. You have a long hunt, but I would recommend allowing as much , as in A LOT, of time for the hunt. The down side is you will have deer and turkey hunters up there in October, and the hunter/vehicle pressure is what will keep them in the park or nocturnal. I would recommend talking to Russ Jacoby even if you don't hire him. He is a wealth of knowledge on the buffalo hunt. up there. Good luck and congratulations on the tag.

    Woods Canyon

I have caught garter snakes from Missouri to AZ, had many as "pets" as a kid. I taught my daughter how to catch and hold them with one at Blue Ridge when she was very young when we found one fishing with us on the bank. Great one to teach kids that snakes are not slimy or evil, and actually have a place and purpose in nature other than smashing them with a rock or shovel.

    AZ Jaguar Killed?

Consider who published the article... AZ Central , AKA Arizona Republic. . Biggest bunch of libtards using their media to project their own slanted views on gun ownership and wildlife management, not to mention politics. . The current management makes me ashamed that I delivered their paper when I was a kid . I'm truly amazed that they stay in business.

Elkanddeerhunter, yes, Jared is my nephew. I'm kinda jealous of his job, although when you have two big bulls down at once, not so much! Good work for young fellers! Congrats again! Thanks for sharing the story!

    Boating 101 small v hull

GF will go by rated persons capacity. I don't think they will let you put two kids to one adult conversion factor in play. Make sure you get life jackets that FIT the kids! They will outgrow them yes, but snug fit is a must. Store the motors like you have them, always run the gas out for prolonged storage, and always start with water to them or you will ruin your impellers. They will be fine on the transom when trailering, I had a shift lever get broken from laying in a truck bed and hitting one too many bumps. JBWeld to the rescue, but the motor was ugly after that.

    Lee's Ferry Mid June/Early July

I was there two weeks ago, fishing is good, and the fish are big and healthy. Headed back this Friday. Get a #9 (3/8 oz) Panther Martin, in black with a gold blade, or the orange and yellow one in the same size. Only lures I used for two days. Use light line, 4 or 6 lb, and have fun. Your truck will be fine at the launch, Park Rangers are in and out, and some river runners are usually there as well.

    Mid Life/wife crisis Question

If you are going to a bigger trailer, and definitely if a toyhauler is a thought, get the 3/4 ton. Every flipped trailer I pass on the highways were connected to a 1/2 truck. Even if they are rated for the weight, they dont have the butt-end stability you will need. Gas or diesel? Your daily mileage wont vary much, most will be around 14-15 in town, 16ish on highway unloaded. The diesel shines when towing, The big hemi that Ram is putting in the 3/4 tons will certainly pull, but the diesel will run cooler which is a huge thing in AZ in the summertime. Plus turbo power when you need to pass or climb is sweet. That being said, repairs on a diesel will be double. If you get one, try for a low mileage one, 2012 was the last year the RAM did not require the DEF fluid. The Ram transmissions seem to get questionable about 125-150k from my friends experiences. GM with the Alison has the transmission, the Rams's Cummins engine is solid. I dont have any experience with the Duramax on high mileage, perhaps some others can chime in.

    Max Sheep Point Holders

Then it essentially becomes a preference point system. And "point creep" will become a factor. I think the fact that anyone has an opportunity to draw when they apply is a good thing. I remember the 3 year sit out for elk and antelope from years gone by, and hated it.

    Max Sheep Point Holders

You cant draw if you dont apply. If you do draw, then its like winning the lottery. I was so excited when I saw the hit , I couldnt even dial my phone to call my hunting buddy at first, and then he said I was speaking gibberish and told me to call back when I calmed down. But, such excitement in life isnt everyone's thing.......
