+1 for what Ruthunter said regarding "just remember to have fun". I had my tag in 2008, and the knowledge that I would most likely never again have the chance to hunt and hopefully harvest a ram almost caused me to have an ulcer. You can put waaaayy too much pressure on yourself. It took me a few months to settle down before the hunt, and realize why I hunt. because I enjoy it, and I do it for fun. My hunting partner asked me after we attended the ADBSS seminar, what my goal for the hunt was. I knew he meant score wise, which was what everyone seemed caught up in. I looked him straight in the eye and said" To have fun on this hunt". As stated above , contact the WM for the unit, they are a great source of info, attend the seminar, GF can supply you with the names of previous tag holders for what ever unit your friend drew. Most will be more than happy to share their experience and info with you. It's a learning curve, and I guarantee once you hunt desert bighorn, you become addicted. My friend drew this year, we think its the same hunt I had, so I am stoked about getting to go out again. "Sheep Fever" is a very real thing. Good luck to your friend, and as stated take LOTS of pix, start before you find sheep, make an " album" of the hunt, cause its alot of fun to go back and reminise years later.

Actually Muley224, you can draw a second tag even if you fill the first one, because we have two species of sheep. You are allowed both a desert ram and a rocky mountain ram. I am hoping to pull a rocky tag before I get too old to do it justice, but not holding my breath.

I quit using the Powerbelts, they fly well, but fragment, and I was not over impressed with their penetration. I switched to the Barnes TSX, specifically the SST which are an EZ load. 250 grains with 100 grainss of Triple 7 powder has done in antelope, elk, black bear, javelina , eastern whitetail, and hopefully this fall another BIG antelope. The bullets expand and retain almost 100% of their weight, giving them great penetration. They group fantastically out of my Knight, several friends CVA's and anothers TC. The best bet is to play with arond with it, my gun groups better with the 100 grains than 150, and my shoulder likes it a whole lot better as well.

That is a great looking dog! If you find him a girl friend, I would be interested in one of the pups.

Can you find the carp cruising all summer during the daylight ( early and late) or is that primarily in the spring around March and April? I spend a lot of time on the water, but until this year never paid much attention to the carp I see. Trying to figure out if its too late for good action at Rosie this weekend?

Help! This is my first real season of getting into bow fishing. I have a question for those of you who have been doing it a while. I went to Pleasant last night, went to the back of Humbug, and other than a few fish jumping 50-100 yards from the boat, never saw one carp. The water visibility was great, no wind, I could have spotted any fish down to 7 or 8 feet. I have read that there are a few of you who hit Pleasant regularly, I would sure appreciate any advise on that lake. I had a great trip to Rosie a bout three weeks ago. At Pleasant we hit the same types of brushy areas, checked varying depths, Nada. Any advise would sure be appreciated.

Is he house broken? I have two large labs, one older, one young... not crazy about doing the puppy- two year old destruction thing that comes with labs again, but need to find another to keep the 3 year old company when the old guy passes. Plenty of room for another, the hard sell will be the wife.

LCP's are .380 auto

Thanks for the info, how was the water visibility? I'm guessing it was pretty clear with so little run off, although I guess that will change this weekend with the rain.

Any reports from Roosevelt or Pleasant yet?

Great Ram! I'm guessing you were hunting the Tinajas in 40 b by the color of the mountain? The background desert floor looks like the one in my photos, I had that tag in 2008, and remember those white rocks searing into my eyeballs.

Well, I got the " are you out of your mind" reply, even after getting my daughter to help gang up on the wife. I passed it on to a friend who was over at Thanksgiving, and mentioned he wanted another lab after playing with my two pooches. Hopefully he will get with you and take one. I am sure you will have no problem finding them good homes.

Also, how big are parents, mother known, father an average? Sent link to the wife, waiting for either the"aaawwww I want one", or the " are you out of your mind?" We have two, youngest just turned two years so finally mellowing out, ... yea, right!

I sent you a text, I'll take one if they are the current style rather than the older screw on ones.... I already have one too many of those.

Big Tub, I am computer illiterate, I was lucky to get one picture to post. The gun is in great shape, has one small scratch on the stock, the bluing is perfect. This gun has beautiful wood grain. You need to hold it in your hands, not look at pictures!

Hoghntr, thanks for the sales pitch! The 1187 is sold pending payment, the Benelli is still available.
