Check out Crooked Horn Outfittters packs. Very well built, designed by a hunter, and well thought out.

I still have mine, bought it new the year they were introduced . It was the original laser model and the Cats Tush when it came out. I still use it for the backyard range. You should keep it, I think they are almost considered an antique hunting weapon, LOL. Sure helped my archery hunting success !

My hunting partner asked me what my goal was when I drew in 08. I knew he meant score, but I replied," To have a good time". It gets easy to put so much pressure on yourself with these once in a lifetime tags, that the joy of hunting seems to get swept to the back. You have pretty much a month to hunt, and its a beautiful time to be on the desert or mountains. Enjoy it! Good luck to all that drew this year!

No one mentioned... get in the absolute best shape you can! You will be hunting at or near timberline, and the air is crazy thin. If you live in lower elevations, get an Elevation Training Mask, and use it every day for cardio. You may look funny using it, but they work! If you plan on going this year, you had better start yesterday! I have had my butt handed to me every year I went up to hunt my parents ranch when I didn't draw here. I was in great shape for 1000 foot elevation, but milk toast at 10k. And, work the legs! Colorado is vertical. For some reason, there seems to be about 1/2 as much downhill as there is uphill It defies logic. Beautiful country, but you will earn any animal you take up there. Good luck!

My brother drew Rocky Bighorn with two bonus points. He drew Desert Big in 2016!
Would it be wrong to say I hate that guy? That is some serious luck.... he should be buying lottery tickets too.

Whoa!!! Buffalo for me. Raymond herd cow November-December. I know nothing about this hunt and AZ seems to have little on line info.
oops. Not the Raymond herd.
Looks like I have a possibility of getting a bull elk, a bison ana two deer in about a months time. I think I am seriously on system overload.
Raymond is show up get a talk, go for ride with G&F they spin some pellets out of truck and bison come in and they tell you which 1 to shoot. Then you fill your freezer!
Well, it appears I was mistaken. My tag is not the Raymond tag. Apparently, what I drew is a Limited Opportunity cow bison tag for Nov. 2 - Dec 31 in 12 A, 12B, and 13A (House Rock herd)
At this moment, I am totally confused, especially since they are culling the herd this year. I mean, are there going to be many bison left by November. I know nuthin about this hunt so far.
There will be plenty of bison left. It just depends on whether they are moving out of the park at that time of the year. Water and salt are the main enticements that pull them from the GCNP, and they will most likely have some source of water by November . I killed my bull in January, there was snow all over, yet they were still moving out to hit the salt. You have a long hunt, but I would recommend allowing as much , as in A LOT, of time for the hunt. The down side is you will have deer and turkey hunters up there in October, and the hunter/vehicle pressure is what will keep them in the park or nocturnal. I would recommend talking to Russ Jacoby even if you don't hire him. He is a wealth of knowledge on the buffalo hunt. up there. Good luck and congratulations on the tag.

I have caught garter snakes from Missouri to AZ, had many as "pets" as a kid. I taught my daughter how to catch and hold them with one at Blue Ridge when she was very young when we found one fishing with us on the bank. Great one to teach kids that snakes are not slimy or evil, and actually have a place and purpose in nature other than smashing them with a rock or shovel.

That makes my head hurt to look at . Since I had to stand on my head. IT Department?

Consider who published the article... AZ Central , AKA Arizona Republic. . Biggest bunch of libtards using their media to project their own slanted views on gun ownership and wildlife management, not to mention politics. . The current management makes me ashamed that I delivered their paper when I was a kid . I'm truly amazed that they stay in business.

Elkanddeerhunter, yes, Jared is my nephew.
I'm kinda jealous of his job, although when you have two big bulls down at once, not so much! Good work for young fellers!
Congrats again! Thanks for sharing the story!

I have two bino adapters, with one stud only. One works flawlessly, the other sticks a little bit sometimes. $75 each, or both for $125. First person gets dibs on the stud.
