Neat pixs. You have a nice set-up. On the lone doe, I see a couple of extra horizontal lines. Could there have been more than one? You guys are having too much fun. I gotta start taking pixs too.

I guess "Good Bye and Good Riddance" says it all.

New to Area - Unit 30A Tips
ghost hunter replied to ketchupcox's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
While I won't debate the "whose road is it", I have always thought, and every chance I get, tell G&F that the public land owners (FS, BLM, St Land) need to get together and remind the ranchers just who is driving the train, or in this case, it shouldn't be 'the tail wagging the dog.' Their rule should be simple, like "No access, No lease." -

Um,...how bout Snow Lake. -
I first saw some in the late 80's. It should work well anywhere it isn't 'totally green'.

Does anyone have any Monsoon Rain Totals to date?
ghost hunter replied to Coues79's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Not sure how accurate those "to date" totals are. Just typed in Willcox and got the rain totals from Douglas (85 miles south) It is an interesting tool though. -
I've used ASAT for several years. Its hard to find and a bit pricey but its good.

Unbelievable Dept. Mess UP!!!
ghost hunter replied to azcamohead's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I agree with mzlloader. I started putting money away each paycheck years ago. If I don't get drawn, I have the option of letting that money buildup, or I can use it to buy a new 'toy'. When you hear yourself say, "I can't afford to put in for Arizona if I have to pay up-front..." just ask yourself how you expect to afford it when those tag fees are put on your CC at 18% interest. Do what you want,...but at 18% interest, your tags will cost you atleast 10% more by the time you get them paid off. -
Unbelievable Dept. Mess UP!!!
ghost hunter replied to azcamohead's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Well now you got me thinking. I applied for some hunts "on-line" until the system crashed, then I just did the paper apps for the others and dropped them off. The only tags I drew were from the paper apps that I hand delivered. Guess you know how I'll apply from now on. -
Well guys, don't break out the waders just yet. 29 gets cloud build-up almost every day, but as of yet, hasn't gotten much rain. They haven't even got enough to get the creeks running. One lady who moved to W. Turkey Creek a long time ago, said that this is the first year since 1932 that Turkey Creek didn't run during the winter. What rain there is has been spotty and light for the most part. As for the quail, the first little one I saw were just a week or so ago and they only had 4-5 per pair.

I must be a bit farther south than AZ RANGER. I live in Willcox.

Campsite Trickery
ghost hunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
After returning from fishing, I put one of those styrofoam worm cups in the fridge. Only thing was, I got a soft plastic worm and had it hanging about half way out. It was in the back so you couldn't see it when you reached for the cup. It took about 3 days, but the wife finally grabbed it. Except for the fact I had to clean up the mess, it was worth it to hear the screaming and see those poor worms flying through the air. -
I just read the article and must have missed something. What part of this is detrimental?

Heck, do the work yourself and save a bunch of money. Unless you are driving something new AND exotic, it shouldn't be too hard. Yes, you wont be able to recharge the AC system when done, but there are lots of places that will do it. Just a thought...

Today, I happened to see a blue, late model pick-up with the "cwt" sticker in the back window going east on I-10 outside of Willcox. Scrolled through the pixs and it looked like "Coueselk's" I've been looking for one since people started putting them on and I finally saw one. Looks as nice in real life as it does in the pixs.

Jennifer Martin Commission Nomination
ghost hunter replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
After reading Martin's resume, I was left speechless at all of the important jobs she has had, the upward mobility she has demonstrated and the increasing degree of management and supervision each entry shows. NOT!!!. She has barely graduated college, had a few summer jobs saving a few birds and some prairie dogs and now she gets not only the nod from the Gov but the backing of NRA? Something is amiss here. Last night I got an automated phone message from NRA asking that I support Martin. I waited for my chance to let them know how I felt about it but it hung up when I pushed #2 for more info. Can't believe NRA would spend that kind of time, money and effort unless they were VERY interested in how this turned out. Guess we just need to get to snooping around and find out why. -
What Worked and What Didn't?
ghost hunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hum...seems that several of us had the same problem with the water bladder leaking all over. Another thing that didn't work well was my Eberlestock pack. Of course I figured out had to adjust the straps correctly AFTER the hunt was over. What worked well was a walking stick. Got the idea from Doug. Also tried an MRE one night and that was surprisingly good. Might eat a few more. -
Desert Bull - Identity Exposed!
ghost hunter replied to muskrat's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Oh ya...I'd recognize him in a crowd. You just can't forget those eyes, and those rugged features. -
I haven't been over by the spillway is a few years, but I don't remember any such sign. I can't imagine anyone putting a fence around the entire lake, but the road that goes to the upper end has a pipe fence across it that is locked by the FS. You can't drive past it, but you could walk past it. I'd say you only need to decide medium or medium-well. Bon Apetit

More hunt changes proposed
ghost hunter replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Darn, I must hunt all the wrong places. In a whole lot of years, I've only seen 1 rifle hunter out in December with me.
