Congrats! Those Goulds are beauties. How many points did he have to draw that tag?
-
Bought my points. Looks like they changed some stuff around.

That's crazy I was just on the 45 minutes ago checking and it wasn't up. Thanks

Not sure how familiar you are with the 45 Colt but they have enough boiler room to load them to 44 mag capabilities. The downside is if you do that in a Single Action Army or one of the replicas ( Cimmaron or Vaquero) you will have yourself a hand grenade. The bigger Rugers and specialty stuff like Freedom Arms can handle the stout loads. I have a couple vaqueros that are real fun. Just need to now their limitations. Good luck in your search.

Those doublers should say "Simmons" on the side.

This thread is awesome! I dig the variety on the boat. Always makes for a good day. Glad you posted them up. Side note, didn't know what a Sierra was but I thought you had a booner Spanish Mackerel there.

After much searching, I have found these that particularly caught my interest. This one seems to be almost exactly what I am looking to make.

That is an interesting view for sure. Especially when considering the mechanics of a negligent discharge on a large single action revolver or even a double action trigger pull like that of a 629.

I needed the same thing a while back and ended up sliding a new PTG bolt into a donor action for my 6.5 SAUM. Good luck on your search. I'd love to hear about the SS when its up and running.

I fell in love with the RamCat head last year. Fixed blade that truly flies like a field point. Blades are sharp on the backside and will fold the opposite direction and cut when pulled back out. Someday I will try the Solids or model similar. Only reservation is the broad profile catching too much wind. Love to hear of others results. I played around with the Schwackers a bit. Flew great but I didn't like the delayed opening of the blades. They have worked great for others, but I want a full diameter cut on the entrance wound.

Definitely the Alaskan Guide Creations. He has recently made some improvements and is constantly working to make the best product. He is a great guy on top of that!

Absolutely awesome! Great pics and thanks for sharing.

I think the same way, or at least I start out that way. I would be an awesome minimalist hiker but then I bring all my hunting gadgets and camera gear.

I'm very interested in where you are going with this. I was hoping someone else would chime too. No experience with either shaft but looking into the skinny stuff. Let us us know what you think.

Cheek piece?? Need opinions
WampusCat replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Defensive Edge makes a saddle style cheek piece if that's what your after. -
Sorry to hear that. Do some online searching. It's easy to DIY as the systems can be very modular. You basically need cameras and a DVR and a way to control everything. The great thing is you can get as simple or high tech as you want with any individual piece of the system. They even make cameras now specifically designed to record license plate numbers. You'll just need the aimed in the right direction. The DVR should be big enough to record for the duration of your usual "away" periods. This time frame will also be effected by how many cameras are feeding the DVR. It's been a little while since I dug deep in this but there are plenty of resources out there. Good luck in your efforts.

Thanks for posting this! It appears the bearing surface is quite a bit longer on the ELDs. Can you confirm?

Just kidding. I took these this weekend and they turned out pretty good so I thought I'd share.

Good stuff. My little nugget isn't quite there yet, but I look forward to when he is.

What's the deal with RUM brass
WampusCat replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If you aren't set on a RUM and still want an elk hammer, the 300 Win is no slouch with a 215gr. I am excited to test the new 212gr ELD-X as well. If I was stuck on a RUM I would be slinging 230s! I'll be honest and say I shy away from the RUMs to preserve barrel and can life. Realistic killing distances don't leave me feeling under gunned with a Win Mag and 215s at 3000 + or -. So many options so little time. There will always be something faster and and drifting less but there will always be a trade off. Everyone has their happy medium they are comfortable with. I'll be interested to hear what you settle on no matter the result. -
These bats are living in a cave in Africa. While I am not 100% on the species, I am fairly confident they belong to one of the larger species in the Horseshoe Bat family. Pretty weird experience crouching in a dark cave feeling wind from their wing beats on the back of your neck.

What's the deal with RUM brass
WampusCat replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
6.5 SAUM !!! I've got several hundred pieces of brass with factory headstamps from GAP. They will be doing another run in the future. The performance and barrel life from a short action is hard to beat and it eats the same powder as my other rigs. (H-1000)
