  1. 2 pups left. Both males both Redtick. Both have a kinked tail. I was going to keep the one i called Kink but I have enough puppies. Have had all shots and recently wormed. $500 each

Parents are dry ground bred. They catch lions in the dirt and are excellent on bear as well. This is a repeat cross out of my 2 best dogs. Both parents are 40lb dogs.

In Prescott until next week, then Arivaca.

  2. As some of you who attend the 3D archery shoot in Clints Well may know, for the last couple of years we have donated a 3 day bear hunt to Outdoor Arizona Kids to be raffled off at the memorial day archery shoot. Seventeen year old Lacey Sanderson was the lucky winner this year.

Some of you may recognize Lacey and her father Richard, he owns Black Canyon City Archery and Lacey is the current Triple Crown champion.

This was an awesome hunt. We got out ran the first day, simply got our butts kicked. The second day we had another split race and we were unsure which dogs to go with. The young dogs got the job done and we were able to get Lacey in to this bear. This was a great first bear.

She was calm cool and collected and proved why she is the Arizona Triple Crown Champion, it only took 1 of her gravedigger broadheads to take this bear down. Perfect execution and shot placement out of her PSE X-Force Vendetta.

Richard and his daughter Lacey are excellent people and we enjoyed putting this hunt on for them.

  3. Randy had killed a nice black colored boar with us last year, but from the start he had said he would rather have a color phase bear. Preferably red or blonde. We had done our homework and knew there was a big cinnamon/blonde in an area. So after getting Johns bear done and passing on the sow on Monday we went into that area Tuesday looking for the big boy.

As luck would have it we cut his tracks. This bear turned out to be nicer than we had thought, he was really a giant. He died in a running creek and the wet hide really does not show his color or size in my opinion. This was a great hunt and could not have turned out any better.

  4. We had told John to be ready to go opening weekend and as soon as we got our first two hunts done we would bring him in. Saturday night John and Randy rolled into camp.

Sunday we ran a bear that was sponsored by Nike. The dogs put in over 20 miles, we saw the bear 2 different times in front of the dogs and when he finally did tree, he came out of the tree before we could even get to the tree. Anyone that says that bear hunting with hounds is easy needs to experience a day like that, it was a long rough day. We had similar experience with John on a giant bear last year, I think he was about ready to give up on bear hunting!

Monday morning we started a good sized track that immediately took the dogs up into the rough country, the first thing we thought was we had got back on the track star from the day before. The dogs split and we had two races all of the sudden. This bear went up and up and up and treed 1200feet in elevation higher than where we started.

John took this gorgeous old bear with his 10mm.

After getting Johns bear killed and the skinning started Randy and I went to find the other 3 dogs that had split off, they were also treed 1.5 miles the opposite direction of the truck. We headed up that direction and went through a bunch of nasty country only to find a jumper when we got there. This young sow jumped 3 or 4 times before she finally stopped. Randy looked her over and having already harvested a nice boar last year he passed, I was glad he did, because that was one pack out I did NOT want to make!

  5. The second day of the hunt, we were lucky to have Paul with us. Paul took a bear with us a couple years ago in August and unfortunately the hide slipped. He was back this year for another crack at one.

We started this bear under some big monolith bluffs, after the dogs had him jumped the bear ran them right through the bluffs and got a big advantage on the dogs.

For whatever reason this bear circled back right towards where we started him and they treed him 70yds off the road and 250 yds from the trucks. It was the easiest pack out I think we have ever had! This was a really good old boar, Paul shot him once with a .500 Smith and the bear came out of the tree alive, the fight was on. The next 10 minutes was pretty intense to say the least. I will get a little of video uploaded when I get a chance.

  6. Well I am excited to say that we are back from another great opener for this years October bear hunt. As most of you probably know by now the feed this year is plentiful.

On this hunt we had 17 year old Mitchell Jones from Phoenix, AZ hunting with us. Mitchell hunted with us for 3 days last year and unfortunately for him, it rained a ton all 3 days that he was available to hunt.

His dad Glen brought him back this year on the opener and on opening day Mitchell was able to get his bear.

Mitchell did a great job taking this bear with his bow. He was shooting a PSE Bow Madness.

Mitchell was excited to get done on the first day he was able to make it back in time to play in a high school hockey game at Jobing.com Arena on Saturday!

  7. Brian Peterson of Kodiak Alaska came down to hunt with us after the SCI show. Brian had put in over 3 weeks lion hunting in Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming but had yet to harvest a cat.

We hunted HARD for 4 days. The first day we trailed this tom a long way but we did not get him caught. The second day we must have went the wrong direction, we rode all day, found some sign but never got on anything. The third day we got on a lion again (we think the same one) and he was able to get away from the dogs in the ledges after going over the mountain.

Luckily for Brian and us this tom came back to the same country on the fourth day and we hit him and a female fresh. The young dogs split and we immediately were concerned we may have a trash race. I went to the young dogs first and they had the tom caught, the video will tell the rest of the story! This lion jumped 8 times. He did not want to stay in a tree.

Another successful hunt for HD Trophy Hunts and Team Paws and Jaws! Thanks for looking!

  8. Amanda I took a good loooooooong hard look at the covert when you had the 10% off going before christmas in the end I just couldn't find enough people that are having success with them to justify the extra cost. If the cell signal does not work, like you said a lot of our hunting spots do NOT have cell service, then basically its a glorified more expensive camera that the cheaper coverts will do exactly the same thing......

I guess I just don't wanna be the guinea pig this time. haha

  9. Looking for someone that has actually used some of these Cell phone trail cameras that send pictures. The reviews for most of them are awful.

I've read a ton of reviews and they vary quite a bit. For the money these things are pulling I would like to know that they are working for someone and what brands and models are you having success with????

I like the idea of moultries gps modem because it's compatible with more than just one camera but seems like AT&T is the only provider it works with?

Soooooo do any of you have any first hand knowledge of these cameras?

    Thanks!

  10. Apparently the 4th time is the charm.

Our hunter for this trip TJ was originally supposed to fly in Friday night at 8:15pm from Milwaukee, I was coming out of the bear woods headed to Sky Harbor to pick him up when the phone started going crazy, he had missed his flight. This was going to be TJ's 4th Arizona Lion Hunt (3 prior with other outfitters) and he was on a pretty tight schedule. So he was a nervous wreck after missing his flight. Luckily, he was able to get a flight out the next morning and at 10am Saturday I picked him up from Sky Harbor with a truckload full of hounds and a camp trailer. We drove down to camp and met Daniel, only then did TJ finally calm down.

Sunday morning we rode out in a spot we have not hunted all year. As luck would have it a big tom had scratched twice under the same tree. The dogs struck and moved the track steady. We got a little rain saturday and trailing conditions were excellent. The lion tried a few tricks in the bluffs but the dogs did a good job, they had him caught in a crack originally and we could see dogs but not the lion after he jumped from there is where the video starts. I wish I had let the camera roll the whole time, but it was my turn to be a nervous wreck. I kept shutting it off saying "we need to get over there." The dogs were in a couple of really hairy spots.

Sorry about the shaky video, I handed the camera to TJ at one point trying to take care of dogs and holy cow was he SHAKING, the ground must have been moving underneath his feet. You might notice it in the shooting as well. :-)

Also as a forewarning- THERE IS SOME SENSITIVE LANGUAGE IN THE VIDEO YOU MAY WANT TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN IF YOUR CHILDREN ARE AROUND. It was a nerve racking deal and we were lucky to not lose any dogs, but we did lose our manners.

Watching TJ try and drink out of a water bottle after the dust was all settled was one of the best parts he was shaking so bad he spilled most of it!

Congrats to TJ on a fantastic Arizona tom. This tom had some age to him, at one point his lip had been split, he had large scars on both sides of his jaws and one of his toes stuck out weirdly and had a lot of scar tissue around it. Lion hunting this dry desert is tough, it never seems to happen like this, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Take care happy hunting and enjoy the video!
