Hey guys, let's keep the name calling down as it is completely unnecessary and begins to ruin the best site on the web. Differences of opinions and posts taken out of context occur naturally. Please do not let it turn into name calling. Lots of different types of people read this site, from kids to adults. We need to all step up and keep this site the best one out there, do not let it divulge into those other sites. Now back to your original programming. 5BS is about as easy of a cow hunt as there is in this state. It is not an easy hunt always, but it is one of the easiest of the cow hunts due to high elk numbers compared to extremely low cow tags for that hunt. Find water, you will find elk.

That is an outstanding hunt! Cows are EVERYWHERE in that unit. Water is key, find some excellent bedding areas between two waterholes and work over any of those areas. Getting off the roads is absolutely key and you will find huge trails to follow. If you are interested, I think I may be liquidating my my laminated maps of 5B. I have 19 laminated maps of the unit in three tubes, never really used. Brand new. I may post them in the for sale section.

They are not too hard to follow if you look at the regs. Also, if you look at the HabiMap on the Game and Fish website it will have the boundaries on it. I took the boundaries from the regs and drew them onto a google earth map and used that. Pretty simple boundaries for this section of 22. Good luck on the hunt, it is REALLY a tough hunt with tons of hunters plus there are 150 more bull tags this year for that hunt. It will be a zoo far more than in the past!

Hit the same stuff on the same trip! It may be because we only live about 2 miles apart! Yeah, it was coming down very hard at times and that Scottsdale Road area was a really gully-washer!!!

Looks like a tank. May be a small apron that is not visible in the shade or along the edges to provide water from the tank. I have seen round tanks that have water collections feeding the tank, with very small waterering holes right next to them.

I have the same tag and it holds very special meaning to me also. I grew up learning to hunt in 36c and 33 with my brother and best friend. My brother is no longer with us but I still go down every year to relive memories and make new ones!

Thanks TJ. The family definitely helps. My now-5 year old has been asking a lot of questions lately about why bad people hurt Uncle Jimmy. Not sure how to answer those questions yet. How do you explain evil or bad to a 5 year old? How do you explain the choices that people make that hurt others? How do you explain murder? I have been trying to dodge the questions because I cannot answer them without welling up.
