Il be going on a 6 day fishing trip in Yellowstone national park in the end of July. I picked up some fly rods and have been practicing. Any tips or tactics or locations would be much appreciated.

I also am going to Yellowstone this summer, was thinking of brining my dog but after reading the rules of the park it will severely limit what you can do. "Pets are allowed only within 100 feet of a road, a parking area or a campground – and, when outside your vehicle pets must be crated, in a carrier, or on a leash no longer than six feet at all times." this is from the NPS website

Awesome thanks and good luck! Bring waders and be sure to stop at the gate for a license (7-day @ $25) and a copy of the fishing rules. There are areas that are only C&R and others where you can keep certain specie. Lake trout from Yellowstone Lake are a "please kill them" specie, but it's tough fishing without a boat. The Yellowstone River is big water, but some of the smaller streams also provide quality fishing. I always enjoyed the Madison on the west side of the park but only fished any of it in the fall. So I'm not sure where would be the best spots for summer angling. Also, expect lots and lots of water at this time of year because of the snowmelt up high. It goes without saying, but I will anyway. Watch out for bears and do not approach bison too close either. IOW, be careful. Some good advice appreciate the info, I did read about the barbless hooks rule I plan on buying some as well as just crimping the barbs on my existing gear! I'm willing to try anything thanks for the tip

Minimum Height for a Feeder Pen?
Coues assassin replied to melvin's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I will bet $100 "Melvin" is HogHntr on a joke account. Any takers? -
I have a 14' Vhull and have crossed Roosevelt in some nasty wind with no problems. It's on a small trailer and easy to tow around, like someone else said your going to like the trailer instead of taking it in and out of your truck. I spent about $100 in material and a day of my time and turned the front half of it into a deck but I still get the stability of a V hull

anyone, what kind of experience in 35B last bunch of years?
Coues assassin replied to AZAV8ER's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Most guys hunt a very small portion of a unit they are familiar and comfortable with which is only 5-10% of the unit and then draw conclusions about the unit as a whole -
A lot of work to make sure you get all the bones but worth it when you open one of those bags 6 months down the road. I make all kinds of things with my trout when I smoke them from tacos to sandwhiches or just plain! I found a great brine on the internet I wrote down somewhere if I find it I will post it

If you have the time smoke it all then freeze it in vacuum sealed bags!

Hot, Mexicans, Jackwads with leftover tags running everywhere -
If above doesn't take it, I will.

My buddy was able to fill his first ever javelina tag this past Sunday on the general rifle hunt. I was getting ready to skin and quarter it when he tells me about this method of leaving the skin and just shaving the hair off. I have heard of this done with wild hogs but never a javelina, curious if anybody else does this?

You do this to me every year! One of my favorite hunts by far. -
Canon Powrshot, fairly inexpensive as far as cameras go takes high quality photo and video. Best part is it will fit right in your pocket and has adapter for mounting to a tripod. I have a go pro also and prefer the canon any day. I also have a Nikon D5100 little big to be lugging around but you can't beat the quality. If I were to do it all over again I would get a Canon power shot and a Canon rebel. As far as editing if you have a Mac you are set because movie maker comes installed and is super easy to use, on windows their movie maker is great as well just not as easy and less options (my opinion)

Willow springs lake. Camp at sinkhole it's about 1 mile from the lake they have RV and tent spots. Beautiful lake always get my limit of trout on flies and your only a short drive from woods canyon if you want to switch it up! Your also very close to canyon creek, lower canyon creek is artificial lures and flies only and catch and release and they have big browns!

Does anyone have one that they feel is actually a good spot you could get a limit within an hour that no one else knows about. That isn't private land. I'm not asking for one it just seems every time I find a good spot it already is known to the public and the birds are Skiddish. Curious to see if anyone else has the same problem

From my experience javelina are really just like every other animal. Peak activity in the morning and evening bed down mid day. However I always hunt all day and have killed plenty of animals in the middle of the day. if you smell them you are close as they typically only have a 1sq/m radius they call home and are very habitual. They are great to eat and you just have to handle the meat like every other animal. I personally grind mine up every year and make chorizo out of it all. I don't have a specific recipe as each year I experiment trying to find the perfect mix of spices. Anything you read about removing the scent gland is not necessary it comes off when you skin it anyways. One thing with javelina especially is to be careful not to have the outside of the skin come in contact with the meet. And change blades for gutting/skinning/butchering
