    javelina processed - yield

10-15 pounds of boned out meat, is usually the range on a javelina. The reason I asked about the "dressed" part was because most of the time when a butcher talks about % yield, it is after the head and hide has been removed. Javelina are all head. When I shot my first many years ago, I was a little surprised by the lack of meat I had after de-boning him out. My processor requires 10lbs of meat to make sausage, and more than once, we have had to combine pigs just to hit that #. Enjoy your Javelina, they are great table fare despite what some think.

By dressed do you mean skinned and gutted or skinned, gutted, hooves removed and head removed?

    Which Scope for ML

I like the omega series by Nikon. They are not very expensive, and have good clarity for the money. They also feature the bullet drop circles which are great.

    Suggestions for new scope

IMO, I go ZEISS all the way. for 500-700$ they are the best scope out there. Only drawback is limited MOA adjustment. Need to get a 20 moa base to shoot longer range.

SC Rez Malay Gap hunt help

I can remember taking 50 gallons of extra fuel when heading all the way back in there. Bite the bullet and take atleast 25 extra gallons of fuel. It sucks to waste 160 miles to get gas.

    Girls and Hunting

IMO, there are 2 different types of trips: Guys only trips, and family trips. Just depends on what type of hunt I am going on.

Maybe the collars those sheep wear are putting out a high frequency sound that only the lions hear? It sounds like a dinner bell!!

Are you allowed to hunt lions where the sheep are located? If so, seems sitting near the herd might be a great opportunity!!!!

    javelina bckstraps

90% of people who claim they do not like javelin, have never tried the stuff. I think they are excellent table fare. Looks like a solid meal there!!!

    Which Pack??

I too am debating on a new pack, I think I have narrowed it down to either a kuiu or an Outdoorsman pack. Has anyone used both of these packs, and could give a review of which one they like better. I have been reading a few horror stories about kuiu's carbon fiber frames, being very suspect on heavy pack outs. Outdoorsman's uses a carbon fiber frame as well, but I haven't found any negative reviews on theirs.

    Unit 21 Rifle Javalina

Good luck!!! There are still SOME left around humbolt, but I emphasize SOME. It is not like it used to be, I think closer to Cordes is a much better bet.

A couple neat atl sets from last year

No way!!! That guy has a bunch of ads on EBAY, and must be a huge scammer. What an idiot!! I was a little worried when I saw 100% opportunity on 170+ bucks over the counter archery in AZ. That is a bold claim!!!! Maybe you should at minimum report him to EBAY, so he doesn't scam people out of money, using your picture.

Nice horns!!! Are you a guide? Curious because I came across a picture of a buck you just shot on EBAY. HuntingwithRich is doing an Ad with your picture in it.

    Deadline is over

Most people that write it down twice, do so, so that their 3rd, 4th and 5th choice also get consideration if not drawn for 1st or second. If you only do 1 choice, you have no chance at 3rd choice cow hunt or something to that nature.. Some people fill out all 5 choices so they can hunt even if they do not get their most sought after tag. I do not know anyone who puts a 1st choice, skips second and then writes a 3rd. I suppose this would work tho..

    Deadline is over

It does help to do the same hunt for 1st and second choice. The reason is: Lets say 1st choice bonus point pass is 14 points, and second choice is 9. You have 10 points. You will get your 2nd choice, and will have never had a chance for your first. So if you do the same hunt for both, then you are not going to get drawn during bonus point phase, but you still have a chance during 1st and 2nd choice phase. Hopefully this makes sense.

    HELP!! NEED TIRES!!

I would run goodyear over BFG. Just a personal preference, but I have had lots of "chunking" out on BFG all-terrains. Might get 30000 before they are rotting and starting to chunk. Goodyear Kevlars, either A/t or duratracs would be my choice.

    Arrow builders

IMO nocturnal lighted nocks are the best. I do not care for lumenok. Had it turn off too many times after the arrow blows thru an animal. I can not stand the way their nock turns on. Nocturnal's turn on with the string , and it takes a small knife or paperclip to turn them off. Fly tru to field points as well.

    #5 bites the dust...

Way to be pro-active MathewP. Lions need to be kept in check, or our sheep will vanish. I think there are more problems, other than just lions, but they play a major factor in sheep and other animal 3#'s.

    warning on axis arrows

Where did you get your +/- .008-.010 on their inserts? If this is the case, I would be a bit concerned as well. Also What are other arrow's +/- on inserts? I can not find this data anywhere on the internet, and never thought of it when looking at arrows. If some companies are producing sub-par products, I would like to know about it so I can steer clear in the future.
